    What's Cooking?

Last night my betterhalf made an American Irish dish corned beef and cabbage. Nice to come in after some cool weather fishing ti a hot delicious meal! No photos since it didn't last long !
  2. Nothing wrong about being persistent under poor conditions and being successful. Congrats my friend on your green bass caught on your Lefty Deceiver. As Rick mentioned that may be the best tribute one could make on one's passing!
  3. Quill nice looking smallies! With fish like those no reason to worry about not getting a green bass to the boat. I wish that I could get out on water like that and throw some of my PBJ Neds. They're just sitting in a bag on the bench at home. Just can't make the time to head that far south while balancing work commitments. Looking forward to more posts.
  4. Those fish are either eating really well or a couple of egg ladened females. Very nice couple of spots! Congrats!
  5. Congrats Seth on a nice bunch of spoonbill! Catching a big one while fishing for crappie is pretty amazing knowing how spread out they cam be once there are boats chasing them. Can't wait to see the video. They are still a bucket list species for me and I did not have any luck last year.
  6. Those are some chunky cutthroats! Great job!
  7. Dan good job. You guys got a meal or two. Congrats!
  8. I could not get the photo to open on the email notification that I received on this story from the MDC. I would like to see this fish. He caught this not too far from where I was fishing for redhorse last weekend and I wish that I had caught it . Or at the very least caught a river redhorse as well as the golden redhorse I did catch. Love the kid's name - Maverick. Good for him and his family.
  9. Looks like your son enjoyed catching that spot! Those are great memories regardles of the total numbers boated!
  10. You ground it out and have a couple of nice bass in the boat! Congrats Dan! Though it is different not seeing you holding a Beaver Lake Striper.
  11. That is an awesome bass! Congrats Basfis! Not bad for a couple of hours on the water.

    What's Cooking?

Had no idea what my Betterhalf was going to make for dinner. I was quite surprised when I saw what was in store. Now I am certain that there will be some BBQ purists that might scoff at this rack, but this was fine tasting rack of ribs that she cooked entirely in the oven. She made a rub consisting of brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and a packet of commercial fajita mix. Cooked at 250 deg for over 3 hours. They were tender and very tasty ! I had some potato salad as a side.
  13. We had a nice day her in Columbia today. I got home, had a quick bite, and got rods and tackle in the car. Livie got her lucky fishing cap and we got in the car and headed back to fish the pond by my office. The day held a lot of promise. I wasn't sure how the fishing would be. Livie started with a 1/32 oz tube jig with a green pumpkin and chartreuse slider body. I put on a green and black 1/64 oz jig and float. We both made several casts on the one bank and just got nothing to bite. We walked the bank towards the north side. Even after the cold winter there were still a fair amount of weeds. We tried to fish the gaps in the weeds. The wind would mess with our casts. Finally got a couple of small bites, but nothing worth setting the hook. Livie had switched to a white and chartreuse 1/64 oz jig and she got a few small bites. We moved one last time to the deep water near the outlet. Livie made a cast into a a weed gap and got a solid bite that actually pulled the float below the surface, but missed the strike. I put in a cast by her and I got a solid bite and missed it. Made a second cast and got a hook set on the first fish of the day. I landed a decent bluegill/green sunfish hybrid sunfish! Livie got a couple of other bites from that same area, but never did get a fish. I had a bass on for a quick run, but the small hook did not get a go hook set and it eventually pulled the hook. It was a slow fish day, but a nice sunset and time spent with my youngest while fishing was priceless !
  14. I can see that being a great and a challenging habit. Hopefully she's not filling your boat too often.

Mrs Whooowwiggins! Very funny. I found a few Carol Burnett episodes to show my kids. They enjoyed mist of the skits. Some were somewhat dated. Still laughed quite a bit. Tim Conway just loved making the others laugh especially Harvey Korman.
  16. Thanks Quill for the info. I like that show. Enjoy the underwater portions. Just don't pay attention when it is on. I'll try to get the show on the DVR.
  17. Great fish HW! Did your daughter fish and did she catch any?
  18. I know that you are trolling us by putting a PBJ Ned rig in their mouths! Nobody catches fish on that color. We're on to you buddy ! Congrats on a great bunch of fish on whatever bait you were actually using!

    What's Cooking?

Ok not many details about this dish since my Betterhalf made this dish for dinner. It was very tasty. She had been thinking about making this soup for a couple of days. Here is her baked potato soup. I topped mine with Monterey and cheddar cheeses and the bacon. Would have been good with green onions if we had any.
  23. Les I'm glad you guys got out and put some fish in the boat. I'm often confused myself so no problem there . Knowing Ham he may have neen texting Stein as well.

    What's Cooking?

Let me ask for those that like pudding or at least did when they were younger. Prefer cooked pudding or instant pudding? Me I prefer to eat cooked pudding particularly chocolate. When I make it I add dark chocolate into the mix.
  25. I couldn't tell you about the river levels in that area but really like your profile photo. There are a few of us like myself and daughter that have a thing for catching sculpin!. Hope that you have a good float and get into some good fiahing.
