Congrats buddy!

Jeff I think that you are talking about the show Mudcats on History or Nat geo channel. I watched both seasons.

Let us know when you would like to go. Livie wants to try and I willing to go with her and stick my hand in a flattie's mouth. At least once.π

Beautiful brown trout Phil!

Very nice. I fished a lot at lunch when I lived in FL. Would be upset if I didn't catch 20 fish or more. Mostly sunfish and bass.

Good trip this morning - white jigs

There's that guy from Maryland. Gotta watch out for himπ€£ -
So to answer the question raised, the additional koi pictures are fully justified ππ I haven't yet caught either a mirrored or a leather koi or carp. Always thought that they were pretty cool.

We used to go down to Springfield from Columbia for the Fishing and the hunting classics. Used to have great seminars. Then they had their big expansion which diluted the seminar schedules trying to accommodate so many more stores. Also loved the Missouri Deer Classic that used to be held in Columbia (not sure if it returned from St Louis). I met a lot of the hunting show professionals at those events.

They catch them pretty well below the spillway in the Republican river. At least the times that we were visting our son at Ft Riley. Folks were using white paddletails or live/dead shad for baits. We tried for blue suckers below the dam and only caught bluegill and lost terminal tackle. We haven't fished the main lake yet.

Maryland March Fishing thus Far
Johnsfolly replied to Johnsfolly's topic in U.S.A. - North & East Regions
I have some time to catch up on our last fishing trip (saves you from having to read more about solar and wind power π) which was last Sat. With rain forecasted for this evening that may have been our last trip in March. I was dusting off my list of fish caught in Maryland. Yes I keep a list of freshwater/brackish fish caught in Maryland and that should not be a surprise to any OAF guys that know me π . There are ca. 128 species on that list. Looking at it I noticed that I still had not caught a carp in Maryland. I know that I put Livie on them a couple of years ago to make up for not netting her carp she caught in AR and it getting away before getting a photo. Livie has been wanting to try for snakehead and I knew the spot to try for both. @Quillback it was a tributary of the Little Blackwater river that flows into the Blackwater reserve. We pass a couple of guys at the first access and there were two already at this one fishing for snakeheads. It was a cold and blustery day. There were small but persistent rain showers blowing in frequently between brights sky moments. Livie was throwing a frog and I had a high/low rig with nightcrawlers. Livie was having no luck but I got a bite not long after making my first cast. Set the hook and landed my first brown bullhead of the year π. Next cast I missed two bites but hooked into my first carp on the next cast. Check the box on carp π! I caught another but this one had some bigger shoulders than the first and even pulled drag while getting it into the net. Livie didn't even get any follows or attempted bites and she took over the bait rod. I fished a swimbait around the banks and brush. thought that I might have had one bite but no hooks sets. Livie landed another carp. Going back to a previous discussion about possible effects of snakeheads, we have caught white perch in this area before and now only caught catfish and carp. I had a few more locations to try so we headed out. The next spot was where I had fished previously for banded sunfish and caught my first and only redfin pickerel. The water level was higher, there was less vegetation (still coming out of winter) and more flow than those previous trips. We fished for close to an hour with microtrout magnet jigs and tiny redworm pieces. We saw three fish only and could not id them. No bites and we moved onto a spot I hoped to get into more white perch using our remaining bloodworms. We ended up at Byrd park in the town of Snow Hill MD that sits on the banks of the Pocomoke river. This river gets a decent perch run and a shad run later in April. So it was worth the shot. The wind was now pretty steady and cold. We were only at this spot about 45 mins. I caught a tiny blue cat and Livie a slightly bigger channel. I had originally intended to hit one last spot to do a little night fishing, but chilled to the bone we left and had dinner on the way home. -
Now you're just milking it π€£

Looks great RPS! I just found a shop that had excellent short ribs. Have head back this weekend and pick up some. You know we love a good braiseπ

Coyotes do a great job of not leaving any traces of a dead cat. No reason to bury one. At least that's what I have heard....π
-
Yes many of the brachipod fossils that I have seen are similar in shape to a scallop (Shell oil) shell.
-
I'm far better at finding fossils. A couple of brachiopod shells from PA and petrified wood (left) from Hinkson creek in Columbia.
-
That's a great one. I would think that you are getting pretty close to catching all of them from that pondπ.
-
I have to go and fish that pond! Hopefully sometime soon.
-
Wasn't my grandson. I came across that video. That's a pretty cool find!

I think that the girl that I used to dance with at a teen only dance club in HS used cherry chapstick. None of my girlfriends did that I can recall. Maybe Pina colada π€.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it π

Nice Goldies Dave! Just checked off my first common carp in MD on Sat (report coming soon). It's been a long time coming, but I just don't target them. I still need a goldfish here in MD to check that box π. Have to find a new location to try or wait until summer. The best location for goldfish that I know of in MD now has trout in the creek and only youth and blind fisherpeople can fish it for the trout.

I pick up my microfish catch/photo bags at Hobby Lobby. They are the bag from a five to six variety pack of little girl lip gloss π . I throw out the lip gloss as soon as I get home. Bag typically lasts 6 to 10 weeks of use before it gets too scratched up for good photos.

They do. We had a similar situation with a red bellied woodpecker for several years. He was knocking away letting all the ladies know that he was available, had his nesting site ready, and looking for love. Unfortunately his nesting tree died and we cut it down. That put an end to his knocking.
