  1. I say that EVERY outing at TR, you can ask any of our club guys. That being said, those people who fun fish area lakes, stay because they are fishing for food, family time, and fun, that have zero interest in tournaments, are still going to do so, no matter what. That being said, you said the derbys could actually hurt the area in the long run? Please explain more. So if those fun angler guys are there no matter what, spending money, how does derby guys ADDING when they come, ever hurt an area? I guarantee you that without the income to any lake area in this nation, that tournament people bring in, there would not be as many tackle shops, ma-pa motels, public access areas "yes i said that", small eatery places, etc. if tournaments were to stop. Luckily for myself, and the hundreds of thousands of others that enjoy them, they are not going anywhere in my lifetime.
  2. When the weather changes as much as it has been, it can be hit and miss. Those fish in those areas you fished could have moved up at 2:30, or turned on the bite then also, just after you left. Last week i fished a shoreline at 9:30am without a bite in 2 hours. I left and went back to that same shoreline at 4 on my way to the ramp, and within 50 yards had 4 fish, all keepers. Motored across to a point i had fished earlier without a bite, and picked up 2 more. Its fishing.
  3. Who all has birds scouted, and is going to make it out? I have been seeing several on the back side here, and on the neighbors. Im hoping i can sneak out a few hours in the morning, but its not looking the best work wise.
  4. wrench, after thinking about it, yes they are. Pink looking dot is Masters ramp by the house. That cove seperated by the orange line is the Bona area COE campground. Part of that campground is in Dade county and the other in Cedar county. As a Cedar Co. deputy you have to go into Dade county to get to the Cedar part of the campground. Very odd indeed. So yes i fish that cove/area most trips out.
  5. same question as snagged. I will take my seat behind him with interest.
  6. How cool is that? Small world. Have fun and enjoy the sun because were not enjoying it here.
  7. Also thanks for being a supporter on this site.
  8. Well dang it Daryk. Im gonna send ya a PM this evening.
  9. Just noticed the sponsor for the conservation section of this site is an insurance company. AB Agency Insurance. Says they are a member here. Anyone know of them?
  10. Ha. Rarely ever run more than 2 miles between spots. Last tourney a few weeks back i ran almost a full tank that day and didnt seem to run alot, but obviously we did. Of course always at full throttle, full livewell, full gear, with 2 guys. So gas is rarely in my boat more than a week. Its only a carb'ed 150, but boy does it like the fuel. Miss my 4 stroke 50 Yamaha.
  11. well i put 22 gallons in last friday and sunday i was on E. That was just running spot to spot fun fishing.
  12. I have used the marine Stabil 360 for a few years now. Cant tell if it does anything other than cost me money, but it gives me a piece of mind.
  13. There was lots of lightning north of Springfield before dark.
  14. If while towing, your trailer tire blows and somehow damages the hull of the boat " happened to a buddy" then im assuming your auto insurance steps in? Another avenue to look at. Your boat is on a lift, plug left in it, heavy rains put a foot of water in it that stays until your next trip to the lake 6 months later, and everything in the compartments is ruined due to rust, etc. That is all covered? The damage to the carpet, any wood on the floor/decks. Is there flood insurance for boats?
  15. yea that just doesnt sound like fun to me. As i was just standing on the deck outside, that 10 to 15 now makes me glad im not out there.
  16. What a couple of cuties. Congrats on the additions.
  17. wrench, when i talked to them on the phone they said if im covered it didnt mayter if it was in a tourney or sking. Insurance is insurance they said.
  18. Oh snap, you didnt!!. I lived there for 9 years. My land literally bordered Michigan. I could put a foot on each state while standing on my own property. That rival is everlasting. But im a Sooner/Longhorn fan, so when they play each other im a winner either way. My first house i bought there was on the Maumee River, which runs out of Erie thru Toledo, and west. It was 50 yards in front of my house. Picture the trout opener at Bennet, and multiply that by 100. That river walleye run was unlike anything ive seen any place else. And those walleye arent of the smaller size that we have here. I used to run my Stratos out to the bass islands on Erie. As ive stated on this site in the past, dont get caught out there when it turns. But you can fish anytime as the islands let you duck away from the wind. Ive always said if i move it will be back there.
  19. I know nothing about floating the areas, but have spent some time on Alum Creek Lake.
  20. Thanks snagged. Thats the type of info that helps me.
  21. Dude, you started this. Get back to the airgun section you pot stirrer.
  22. Maybe thats not a bad thing quill.
  23. Well duh, yes. They use those same monies for restocking of other fish all across the state. Not only fish, but wildlife. So if i dont hunt, why should my portion of conservation go to anything related to hunting? Or if i dont trout fish, why should any of my money go to restocking millions of trout? Your second part is common sense. MDC knows the benefits of dumping money on their end into local economys. They dont stock or restock every body of water in the state. The ones they do are chosen due to use and location.
