  1. Why cut it short? With so many ramps on the lake, and other fishable lakes in the area, the last thing i would do would be to leave. Look on a map, locate an area of any lake you want to fish, launch in that area to save from running around with potential of hitting something, and enjoy your stay. Just watched KVD's morning ritual before blast off, and on Ross where their fishing, same situation as here as far as rain, debris, but there its 40 mph winds. And hes excited to get out there. Especially after a good day yesterday. Just enjoy your vacation. If you want to try another area lake, head north to Pomme De Terre. More fish per acre, better size per acre, and less junk in the water.
  2. I had a day like that last Sat. On Stockton. It makes a guy want to go out the next morning.
  3. Doesnt impact us. Ours is next sat. ?
  4. Great info John. Tho im not a LOZ fisherman, your article can and does work on our other lakes. The topwater bite is a favorite way to catch them after leaving the beds. Again great article, like many of your others.
  5. Get your boots ready. Its coming down.
  6. All this talk about SpotLock while landing fish. What happens when its adjusting itself and fish do as fish do, and pull your line under the trolling motor when your not expecting it? Guess just the loss of fish/lure. But tournament guys may see it as more than a lost fish/lure.
  7. That new youth talk ya know
  8. One of those is our open buddy bass tourney out of Aunts Creek a week from Sat. May 6 so come join in on the fun. Plenty of fish for everyone.
  9. On my old boat, the throttle tension screw was behind the center cap in your picture. Does that cap come off?
  10. Received a few calls and texts in regards to registration and big bass. You can register at the ramp no later than 6:30am. Big bass is included in the entry, which is $10.00 added which will go to that angler. It is getting close. Hoping to see some of you guys/gals at this event. Especially those that havent fished tournaments in awhile, and would like to just join in. I will be there at 5:15 or so to register those fishing. All typical tournament rules apply.
  11. Great to have you and your buddy Nick. looking forward to you fishing with us again. Stockton was producing some fish Saturday, especially after the front and weather came in. I really thought it would be a tough day.
  12. Thats a boat full of smiles. Looks like a great day to me.
  13. Hooked up the boat with intentions of heading to Stockton to see if they were on fire like Saturday. With it being 2:30 i thought i would just hit Aunts Creek instead of Stockton as its closer. Well on the drive down i thought i would try Taney. Put in at Rockaway at 3:20. Fished the cove to the right without a nibble. Motored up to the Landing and let the water push me down, throwing the Ned. Again nothing. Fired up and down to Damsite. Fished the cove to the right just before the dam. Again not even a single tug. 7:30 and tired of no bites so i went back to the ramp.
  14. There is another similiar boat that fishes. You are welcome to join us after you get the livewell system installed. Lots of options available to get it done.
  15. Welcome. Born and raised near Texoma and the Red River. All of my family still live there so we get down a few times a year. Enjoy your visit back to Stockton.
  16. Hi Pat. Yes we are a club. $30.00 yearly dues that go towards our year end BBQ and give aways and $25.00 per tourney entry fee with a $10.00 big bass side pot that you could enter. We fish Table Rock, Stockton and Pomme, with an August tourney on Taneycomo to get away from heat and boat traffic. Here is our schedule.
  17. What a fantastic day of "catching". I caught over 100 bass in 8 hours. Had my limit at 8:52. Those 14 1/2" bass just couldnt let the bait hit the water without swimming off with it. I pulled into a cut in the back of a channel and caught 12 fish in 20 casts. They were bunched up like sardines. Not sure i went more than 8 casts all day without a fish. My day started out throwing a white spinnerbait. Hooked into a 14" fish on the 2nd cast. I put that down and picked up a Swimmin Fluke and never put it back down the rest of the day. That bait was on fire. Even the crappie and walleye wanted it. It got to the point around noon that my thumb was getting raw from taking fish off, that i started using my left hand to take fish off "which for me is an acheivement as im not left hand friendly". Fished all gravel banks with most of the fish coming off shore in 8' of water. The smaller males were up tight to the bank, so in order to get any keeper fish, i started throwing out deeper. The key was to let the Fluke free fall to the bottom. Alot of the time when i started my retreive a fish would already be on. That was a common occurence. One of those days you never forget. Weighin echoed my day from the other anglers. Tons of numbers. The males were so abundant that the big girls didnt have a chance. Big fish was over 3 pounds. Congrats to aarchdale and his partner on the win and big bass. Now on to Pomme next month for some size.
  18. Shhhh, you will make his head swell.
  19. Living 2 miles from Academy and 5 miles or so from Bass Pro "Springfield", im at both weekly. Academy visits are to get what i already know i want "today was 3 new bungee rod straps for the decks", and Bass Pro to look at what i think i might want. BP has so much that i usually find myself walking around like im lost, and ive been there hundreds of times.
  20. Neither of those areas hold bass this time of year. I would head for the dam, or to Aldrich. Maybe try your posted areas after August. ?
  21. Thats a good plan. If the fish are bedding they will usually stay as the water above them gets higher. Try a few moving baits as well to see how they react. That slow presentation all day can wear on a guy.
  22. Thats a good trip on any lake. Good to see your trip paying off with fish.
  23. Just tell her that you will do th dishes for a week, and even take out the trash when shes asks. That will get ya another night without backlash when you get home.
  24. Its still on. Only thing we would cancel for would be lightning for the day. Hard to say on number of boats. Some dont mind a little rain while others would rather sit inside and watch it on tv. Tournament is 6:30 to 2:30. We will be at the ramp around 5:45.
  25. Weather has changed guys. Saying the rain will be on the Arkansas line. Springfield and north rain should end friday night. We have a tourney on Stockton and tho it will be cool out, i think the rain will be south.
