Outside of the fishing game, we also like to ride ATV's along with other things. We have a trip to Oklahoma coming up to play in the sand, so with this being the slow time of year for most shops, and me wanting to get a few things gone thru, I decided to drop my 4-wheeler off. I told Kevin, the owner what I wanted done, and said I would wait for his call when he had it all completed. Sitting on my couch yesterday watching fishing, I see his number pop up on my phone. Excitedly I answered, hoping he was done and I could go pick it up. With the tone in his voice, I assumed something was wrong. I asked how everything went and he said great. Cleaned the carb, did a valve job on it, and a few other things. Then came the pause. He said before he left Friday, he put the battery charger on it as the battery was a little weak, so when I came to get it yesterday, it would be good to go. He said around 11pm his alarm company called to say his alarm went off. His worker went there and everything looked ok,. Around 11:15 the neighboring business called him to say heavy smoke was coming from his building. By the time he got there, the building was on fire. Turns out my battery which was connected to the charger blew and caught fire, which burned my 4-wheeler to rubble. I have are heard of guys talk about situations they have had with leaving a charger on their boat, but until this situation with my ATV, I never figured it would hit so close. For years and years I've left chargers on between fishing trips with no issues. Now come the wait. He said his adjuster will be out tomorrow "Monday" and we will go from there. He said I will get taken care of no matter what. Just thought I'd share my battery charger experience.

No Fish Fishburne love? I have watched that guy for years, and have laughed at least once at every show I have seen. Really liked it when he first came out. No one at the time did it the way he did. Come on Dave, gotta like ol' Fish at least a tad. I see he now does the Skeeter show now with his girlfriend, he's a toned down fisherman.

It's going good buddy. Well I'm sure that Champ will still look and ride just as good with a few less horses. Are you fishing the OA tourney at Eagle Rock in March?

Andy, In any profession, especially those that are in the public eye, a person should be able to understand that there will be people that think no matter if they were joking or not, they should still refrain from saying things that make them look a fool. I too figured he was "trying" to be funny, with what appeared to be a small hint of dry personality, but at the same time, his tone, lack of smirk or smile made him look like a fat, grumpy guy that the ref needed to push out of the boat to cool his head. As far as him acting a fool due to the lake not producing. Well, if that's the case, we would all have those grumpy, PMS days to where everyone around us thought we were pricks. And Im sure a lot do, but not in the TV world. I love the show, but like stated, it brings out the lack of knowledge in some of the pros. It's good to see them struggle like us average guys.

Please explain the rational of fluro for leader material
Ketchup replied to Ham's topic in General Angling Discussion
Using mono for the past 40 years, and dabbling with Fluor the past year, my opinion of Fluor is a lesser line than mono as far as getting nicked up. I cut and re-tie 2-1 the Fluor fishing the same obstacles with both lines. This winter I switched every reel I have with a Fluor leader, all to a mono leader. Not a Fluor fan. Weak line when it hits anything. -
Sounds typical of his appearance on the show. At one point he let his fish touch the boat, which in that format is a 2 minute penalty. He asked the boat ref, what if I hit you. In my opinion, he said it in a way that he was threatening the ref. He made a few comments about how he didn't like his boat ref. At one point he even said he would kick his butt "not his exact words". Just have zero respect for the guy. There are many many young kids that watch that show, and to be forced to watch his childish actions in order to watch the show, isn't what I turn the TV on for. He made the cut "top 4" to move on, so at some point I will have to watch his antics again. Let's just hope he matures some between now and then. #growupwatson

What new motor did you get D?

I don't watch a lot of television, but one of the shows I record and watch is Major League Fishing. This past week, round 3 had James Watson as one of the 6 guys fishing. During the show, he made several comments that made me come to the conclusion that he isn't someone I would waste my time getting to know, or fish with. Maybe one or a few of you know him, but his appearance on the show didn't do him well. I've read tons of similar comments in regards to his appearance on MLF, so I know I'm not a loner here. Anyone one else watch it with a feeling that he appears to be an immature queen?

New Boat Pix
Ketchup replied to Captain Ronald's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
So let me get this right, he walks over, removes the cover off of the boat, hops up in it, starts opening lids, and isnt affiliated with Lowes?. uh huh Nice looking boat tho.. Nice looking layout and huge front deck. That console was sharp looking. -
Drop shotting, like most styles of fishing, have its time and place. I fish Pomme alot, and have 18 years. I catch fish in the same places that i would on any other lake using that technique. One of my favorites, since im not a deep water guy, is to fish it around docks, starting on the outter deep water edge, working my way shallow. Another is to find a brushpile and work around it. Tho i dont fish it as much as the jig, crank, or C-Rig, there have been days when it was all they wanted. I fish it on 6 or 8lb line on a spinning reel with a 6'6 or 7' rod. Presentation and how long to leave it sit will be dependant on the fish. As far as fishing around Nemo, you will be within a 15 minute boat ride to some good fish at any time of the year.

Fished Saturday on south end from 7am to 2pm. More shad than you can shake a stick at. Most bites came on swim jig. Alot of fish in backs of coves feeding. Caught some on secondary points, but better fish in back 1/3 of coves.

rps, i didnt see that in the bin. They had lots and lots. I did pick up a few DD22 suspended cranks, as i didnt have any deep suspending left after loosing some during high water. Quill, i had a few of them already, but as you can see, i picked up a few more. I love the size and action of those.

They've made the G3 bass model for atleast 17 years, as mine is a 1998 Pro 175 with a Yamaha 4 stroke. Not an issue yet, including with the Bear trailer. They are much wider than my boat nowadays. We have looked at upgrading after this fishing season is over.

Got a text early that Bass Pro was having a sale on their Norman cranks, so after my errands, i made a quick stop. Talked with a buddy that works in the reels, who is a member here. He pointed out where the baits were, and after 30 minutes, i paid for my 51 cranks. Heck of a sale, and a great time to stock up if you use these.

Fished out of bolivar landing this morning
Ketchup replied to coreykallmbah's topic in Pomme De Terre Lake
How deep were you fishing and area you were in? -
abkeenan, thats about how i feel every trip there. I always leave asking, why. mjk, theres things in life that just doesnt fit our style, and TR for me is one of those things. After talking to a few buddies the past few weeks, im glad im not alone in my thinking. Everyone knows the struggles fishermen have there, and this year seems to be a greater struggle. Net month is at Pomme, and i will feel better, so all's good.

Put in yesterday at 4:30pm and fished until just past dark, at 8:30 out of Cape Fair. Theres a reason i dislike this lake, but with tourney in 2 weeks, had to get water time in. I fished points starting with a C-Rigged 4" tube and caught a few short fish. Switched over to a square bill throwing parallel to the bank in 8' of water and caught 2 13" fish. Around 6:30 i moved to another secondary point with same baits, and same situation. Fished a few docks the last hour drop shotting. Again short fish. Good luck. Ive fished the area 3 times in a week with same results.

thats McCracken Bridge. Its off of PP Hwy between RB and 83 Hwy on north side. Pretty good ramp and parking for smaller boats. Fish along the bluff around Bolivar Landing in 8 to 15 FOW. If you have a boat, troll small #5 Flicker Shads. That will get ya bit.

I will take the Shimao spinning reel.

Good posts BH, Those pigeons eat good, as well as the dove. Glad the Mrs. got out with ya. Now all ya need is a dog to get them out of that fence row and you got it made.

Cats are pretty much in every area of every lake. I caught a 5+ lb'er on a flat bill crank last weekend. I would look on an online map that shows contours and depth, look for an area with deeper water nearby, that you can access from shore, and sit there just before dark, til midnight.
