Had a great getaway. The crappie we're as plentiful as a person wanted. Between 7 of us Friday evening from 7:30pm til 9, we caught over 130 and kept 30 of the biggest. Went out at 6am this morning alone and caught over 20 in 15 minutes. I Bass fished and my better half and buddies wife stayed behind and caught several more. Good to have fish in the freezer again. As far as the bass go, had a pretty decent trip. For not ever fishing Grand, we found some decent fish. Friday morning was pretty slow with a decent wind most of the day. Around 1pm pulled up on a wind blown bank with 6 or 8 docks in a row, about 20 yards apart. Started throwing a crank that I can catch fish on about any time. That first gap between the dock and shore in 5 FOW produced a 21 1/4" fish. Took a few pictures and put back in the water. A few short casts later on the next dock produced a 20 1/2" fish. The 3rd dock I caught 3 short fish in consecutive casts. The belly was calling for something to eat by this time, so back to the resort we went. Got out this morning just at first light with a lite breeze. Started with the crank that produced 1 short fish in 30 minutes. Switched over to the Ned and caught 7 more in about an hour fishing between docks on gravel in the cove we were staying in. After lunch went back to where I caught those nicer fish. Put the trolling motor down and no go. I noticed my on-board charger was not charging right on Friday when I plugged it in. One battery showed charged as soon as I plugged it in, so I knew something was up. Fired up and back to the resort. After catching about a dozen more crappie from the dock, it was time to load up and head home. Love what I seen of Grand. We bought our yearly license so plan on going back off and on. Overall great trip.

Staying at Longs Resort just outside of Grove. FLW event going on, but they narrowed the field yesterday so shouldnt be to bad out. Got here yesterday to watch a guy pull over 50 crappie off the dock. Some of those were 16" or better. All went back in the water. Going to give that some effort today and tomorrow between bass fishing.

Headed out Friday morning and looking to book 2 rooms somewhere. Any clean places that you would recommend? Thanks. The Grove area would be great, but will stay wherever.

Several years ago I took some unscented 6" worms, stuck them in a ziplock bag, poured in a dose of Fish Formula, and let it soak for months before that bag got a hole. Those old formulas sure would stain the carpet on a boat if it got on there. One of the advantages of the spray on attractants is it helps the bait slide thru grass, weeds better as it is coated with the formula and is slick. I used some scent/dye last year on some jig trailers that was garlic scented and not sure what the difference made.

While reading his posts, many of them, that was one thing that stuck out, was no proof as in picture form. The old saying "If you don't provide a picture, it didn't happen" comes to mind. I don't know Trav or anything other than what I have read here, but according to his posts, he has the lower figured out. I remember reading one of his posts where someone mentioned one of his posts not being accurate, or something, and he stated that he is the man in that area, and he would prove it, or something to that. I'm always game for a good challenge to those that need to prove a point. Glad to post pictures of my outings, as I have done several times Is Trav still around?

Awww, the Ol' Arbogast bait. Haven't seen one in years. In my younger days, fishing in one of my grandparents stock tanks "Known as ponds in this area" I remember one of the old Zebco's my grandpa let me use had something similar tied on it. I'm not 100% sure that's what it was, but it rings a bell. I hear there's lots of Lilly pads in the lower, or Bull Creek area which is what I grew up fishing around, so the old childhood feelings are ready to expose themselves when I venture down this weekend. I'm excited to start learning that lake, and see what the challenge of those secret fish is all about.

Here's what I found. http://copsforkidstournament.com/tournament/

Between the online readings, looking at maps, breaking down Travs reports years back, to looking at the "secret" pigs that have come out of there, I'm pretty sure I'm ready and experienced enough due to the above info, that I can have some nice 100 plus fish "LM" days very soon. Yep, pretty sure I have Lower Taneys number. ?

Nice rig. Center rod storage is a great addition on that model. Layout looks good. Perfect boat to come fish with us guys. We can handle the punching and kicking, but the biting we will have to discuss. "Others body fluids don't set well". Congrats on the Lund. Only fished out of 1, and it was on Lake Erie Smallie fishing. Very stable and solid rig.

Thanks for the detailed reports Bear. I too am trying to learn this part of Taneys bass. August tourney there and I'm the type that gets to know a fishery before I donate my money. I will share any info I find on my ventures and maybe help us both out.

That would fill a feller up.

After you get that new boat, your more than welcome to come join us bass tourney tin guys.

Fish Finder Training – Screenshots & Interpretations

Ok J, out yesterday evening up the James, and took a few snaps for ya. The humps on the bottom are rocks I assume do to having large boulders on the shore close by. What are all of the suspended spots all over? Also some of those arches puzzle me. Sometimes I miss just fishing. Haha . Now when I go, I find myself putting around trying to learn what im seeing. Thanks again for helping us newbs. Sorry for the the screen glare. -
We've seen a single otter on 3 occasions the past month. Love seeing the wildlife while out fishing. That tickles my fancy just as much as catching fish.

That first voyage is the toughest. Trying to find a good spot to stop and try when a lot of the water looks fishable. Glad you made it out. As we stated before, the wind is different on Stockton than any of our area lakes. Your first few trips will be trying to locate areas that hold fish for that time of year.

Sounds like you guys did good Sunday.

Spinnerbait? I thought it was caught in the Ned? ?
-
Where's that at Champ?

Nice cheese, We fished it once last year with not even a bite. We have a tourney there in August,, so I'm planning on fishing it at least 3 times a month until then.

Congrats everyone, especially Buck. Thanks to those that put on this event.

Good luck again everyone. Its calm out this morning so should not only spread everyone out more, but make catching better since more main lake fishing can be done. Its 39 degrees out so a bit warmer than yesterday morning. If its calm on the water, the jig should do well, or dont be scared to drag that Berkley worm or lizard around. Good luck.

It was tough out there.

That O'Douls hits some pretty hard. Hope his white che'wa'wa isn't drinking the same. That would be a mess.

Just a good luck thread for those fishing this weekend. Looks like a chilly start so bundle up. Be careful and hope you get to weigh in fish every hour. I will be watching the live leaderboard for any of those guys I know.
