I've found its hit or miss. 1 am always seems to be the magic hour too for some reason. Fished at night allot this year, and had some nights where we slayed them, then others where we just caught a few. I will say I caught more big fish at night versus the day. I mostly fished a spinning setup, very slow retrieve through the current, and let them come up and hit it. We'd hear the splash sometimes and then you'd set the hook as they would hit from below. Good luck, and let us know how you do.

Good luck out there. Throw some big nasty streamers too. The bigger the better. If the fly rod is slow try throwing some shallow diving stick baits on a spinning setup 6-8lb test if they are running any water. My best luck has been between the cable and outlet 1. Anything big and shiny should get you a few.

Glenwood Springs Trip Report October 2016
JestersHK replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in U.S.A. - Colorado
Man great report and love the pics! Looks like you had an awesome time, and fishing with your kiddos is always special. Thanks for sharing. Colorado is still on my list of places I gotta get to. -
Ha, That's just awesome. I literally did a double take when she popped up there then LOL'd. You should train her to bring you a new jig when you break one off Glad to see Jacksons got a playmate for when he's not chasing herons.

If you all do not watch One Cast you need to check out the one from 2 days ago... Although I love and have fished with Jackson, I must say Phil that's the first time I've seen a feline critter hanging out on a boat! My kiddos got a kick out of it, and is that a new addition to the Lilley family or just a dock kitty?

My photo is a finalist in an Orvis contest
JestersHK replied to Plastic_worm's topic in General Angling Discussion
Congrats, I still like your pic better than the winners... Maybe we could do a photo contest here for fun. That would be cool. -
Wow! Thats a big walleye. I saw a monster walleye earlier this year down in the Taney trophy area... I run a red lens on my headlamp at night and you can see the eyes and even watch them follow your bait back in. The space between those eyes on that fish was twice as wide as what I usually see on an 18-20 inch fish... Thanks for sharing.

MDC video presentation on Taney's Health, 2016
JestersHK replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
What a special fishery we are blessed with... Hats off to Shane and Clint and all of the MDC crews there for what they are able to overcome and accomplish given sometimes very adverse conditions. Very informative Phil, appreciate you sharing, and well worth spending my lunch break watching. As for those O2 sensors at the dam they talked about needing, I wonder if a private gofundme could be setup to help them out? I for one wouldn't mind chipping in so that they have better monitoring and management of the hatchery waters that we all rely on to keep Taney in my opinion one of the best Trout fisheries in the US. -
Love the colors on that bow. Where were you fishing at if you don't mind sharing?

The rifles are nice, but at this point in time are insanely over priced for what they are imo, although I'd love to have a 91. I missed the P7 trade ins when you could pick one up for $500. Still kicking myself for not jumping on one. And yes the USP.45 is a brick, and just on the verge of being too big for my hands, but man they are ridiculously reliable and accurate. The HK45 and 45C are just about perfection for me. You pay a premium for them, but they really got it right in that package.

HAHA sounds like a date then ! As for Taney I am working on a trip down there hopefully before the end of this month with my cuz and to sync up with Phil. Pretty sure we can cross that Taney Brownie off the list if we get a night or 2 in for sure. I'll shoot ya a PM once we have dates set. Have a fam trip booked already for late November as well so we have some options. Love me some fall fishing!

Before really jumping back into fishing 3 or 4 years ago I shot handguns very regularly. Although the HK germans have a spot in my heart as well as my EDC I own and shoot all varieties. SIG makes a nice little 1911 based .22 if you decide to go the 1911 route and want to keep the controls the same. Ruger mk II is also a great option with tons of options to customize it to your liking. The S&W bodyguard is a great little pocket gun for summer days and gym shorts, and their whole shield lineup has been pretty great. Prefer that over the ruger LCP and LC series. The Springfield XDS compact makes a great glovebox gun and have been fairly reliable in both .45 and 9mm and their 1911's are great values too. To echo above try to shoot some before purchasing and see what you like. Revolvers are always going to be more reliable, but I have close to 12,000 rounds through 2 of my HK .45's without a single malfunction. They just flat out work, eat any type of ammo, and I trust my life to them. For big frame revolvers I love my Ruger Super Redhawk in .44mag. Sure its enormous but its one of the more accurate handguns I own, and they have the smaller Alaskan model for out in the wilderness. Whatever you do make sure you get out there and shoot it. And try to shoot regularly. I know for me my skills diminish if I wait to long between sessions...

I mean if you 2 needed some guy to carry all of your gear around for a chance to find some brownies I could possibly fit that description Eric82 we still need to hit up that creek too!

hitting taney tonight after dark and all night long
JestersHK replied to trythisonemv's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Man wish you had little bit of flow. Glad you were able to still catch a few. Weather looked good for ya. I love being out there at night, soo peaceful, and I have definitely had those nights where they are hard to come by, then the next night you are slaying them. -

BH you aint lying... I'm already trying to figure out a way to get back out there. We came through the Canyon pass by Bear Lake that cuts back into Utah... Unbelievable drive and well worth the extra hour it took getting back to Utah. Should be able to pull some good stills off my gopro from in there. -
Nice man, Love the markings on those bows. Sounds like a great time.

Awesome fish and thanks for sharing!

Nice Walleye for sure!

And here's a few of the site we were working at. Not sure if I could take the heat, but man it'd be nice to be so close to all of the nature we saw. -

And heres some action shots of me "trying" to fly fish LOL. I can do it, but it sure isn't pretty after watching some of the gopro footage But hey I am doing something right as I'm still able to catch them. -

Whew... Been back for over a week now, and even got to drive through a tornado in Utah on our way back to the airport in Salt Lake. Sorry for the lack of updates as craziness has consumed my life. So I've kind of chronicled my adventures out there. I wish I could of stayed longer, but it just did not work out this time. As I said before the country out there is beyond beautiful. Heres some scenery shots. Still haven't dumped the gopro yet so may have one more update after this one. -
That sounds like an amazing trip! Jealous as I've never made it up there yet. You adopting any more "kids" LOL. Pretty close to those bears, but I guess they are fat and happy on fish right now.

Nice job! Sounds like the wife's a keeper too .
