  1. Nice ones there Travis. Hopefully you stick a big brown. I was surprised I didn't catch a single brownie last weekend up in the trophy area...
  2. Here's a few pics to help visualize from an older build... We had channels set up for the tournament and a bragging board, but you could use them for different bodies of water as well. I have some actual fish Pics from when we used it for the CAM tournament but they are at home on my Mac...
  3. Wrench we have a pretty accurate measuring system built in already. You had to have a reference object in the picture on the same level with the fish that you knew how long it was. When you hit the measure button it dropped a virtual slider that you set on the object and then set how long it was. Then a new slider popped up on the picture and when you place that on the fish it would give you a pretty accurate lenght measurement. We were working on automating the reference object measurement by using a 4x4 square with a bar code on it. You'd set it down next to the fish and the camera would pick it up automatically and set your starting measurement for you. Then you just drop the slider over the fish and it would capture the length and upload it to the leaderboard. Was just about there then iOS 11 hit and lost my developer to MIT in Boston... The sky really is the limit. They have blue tooth scales that you could sync to an app as well. That was on our list. We talked about having a wireless sensor on the boat that would report in water temps as well and basically try to capture as much data as possible to track your catches. The app would already drop a pin on a map for us each time you caught and photoed a fish. That came in handy as I could see what spots produced the best results and notate them to go back to that area next time... If enough anglers used the app you could also start tracking larger fish by their spots and patterns. I know when I see a big brownie caught on Taneycomo I have a folder of pictures I go through and compare markings to see if they've been caught before and some have. With technology today you could build out a trophy database of fish, which you could also have as a reference for different species as well. I have thought long and hard about trying to do this full time, but just not in a place right now with the family and the kiddos to leave this job behind and focus 100% on making a full app happen. Takes either allot of time or allot of money to get everything baked in and then try to keep it updated, published, and working right...
  4. Way to get it done buddy! Congrats
  5. The app potential for the world of fishing is huge. I worked a little bit ago on an app to use for the length tournaments that Phil was doing for CAM. It also had a bragging board and social feel to it towards the end. I will start by saying I'm not a developer, but have years of practical work in the mobile ag space so we gave it a go with a kid that was doing a co-op term here at my work. We ended up with a rough beta that was iOS only but had the general shell built out. We even used it in one of Phil's tournaments and learned allot. Unfortunately my developer ghosted on me right when iOS 11 came out which also broke the app and that's where it's been on the shelf since I've been buried work and family... The app had a login feature we tried to tie into the OA forum user database, we had camera integration where it would time stamp and put a GPS coordinates water mark on your photo, then upload it to a leader board. That piece sort of worked... Phil I hope your app guy is better than mine ended up... I will say try to keep focus on the usability side of things. Nobody will use a clunky app. It's got to be easy. Take the auto measuring stuff for the pictures example. I wish we could of really got that part working better and easier to use. Always here for ideas or testing and like I said previously you can have the source code that we ended up with if you'd like.
  6. This one was built very similar but not as big from last year... Same thing couldn't get a handle on her. They are great fighters though generally when they are built like tanks
  7. That's awesome. What's up with it's tail! Looks off, or out of proportion to it's body
  8. Good luck, hope you can stay dry...
  9. My goodness that fish is stacked! Sounds like a great time!
  10. They are still on fire! I was throwing the hump back model, either that or the 606. Around 4am it was pretty much every cast.
  11. Ham you steered me towards the St. Croix Avid and it's got well over 100 trout already on it. After fishing the Premiers in the shorter length for so long I can say I'm more than impressed with the upgrade. Yes they are kinda pricey, but the feel and back bone are crazy good on it. Well worth the extra $60 over the Premier rods imho.
  12. Me too, and the walleye, and the bass too. First time in a while I haven't caught something besides rainbows. I did see 2 sets of eyes in the red light, but never got one to commit.
  13. I moved around a bit last night. After the dink fest by rebar I moved up past outlet 2. Similar results as the DotySS was getting popped in just about every cast. The one I was using a while back I broke the tip of the bill off. It's got maybe 3/4 of a bill and it runs super shallow which was perfect with the water off. It was almost like fishing top water as I had some great blow ups and would set the hook when I heard the splash in the fog. Started catching some bigger ones too. I fished till dawn then switched over to a jig again. Caught a few more real pretty rainbows. Again just some great fighters and chunky fish. They turned water on at 6 and kicked it up at 7 so I bailed as the crowds started showing up. Great early morning on the water both with numbers and some decent quality too. I'll dump some more pics from my other phone.
  14. Got out down past rebar, and there must of been a herd of dinks out there. They were hitting the DotySS almost every cast. This was the nicest one out of the bunch though, and he wasn't much bigger lol...
  15. So with the rain last night I did something weird that I rarely do down here and that was go to bed at a decent hour... I'm just now starting out though. We'll see what we can find this morning. Water is off I believe.
  16. A few more from last night. They killed water at midnight or 1 I think. Once it was mostly dropped out I switched back to the grey jig with black head. Picked up a few more then called it a night. Fishing hasn't been on fire for me, but it's been steady leaning towards good. I will say the rainbows are fighting strong and all have been chunky and given me some great rides getting them in. They've been eating real good for sure. Have to see what they do with the water again tonight, but I'll be back out again no matter what.
  17. I've been going off the gauge height. That seems to be accurate, but yeah it's been off a bit.
  18. Started around 11. Had 3 small bows, then got crushed by a nice fat silver bullet. Right at 19inches on the tape, but had some shoulders on her... Pics are gonna be crappy, sorry, I'm flying solo this weekend...
  19. The little wlure 606 model is just about perfect... I'm out of Doty specials in that size , but I bought a bunch of their generic rainbow patterns and at night they can be almost as productive despite not having Duane's artwork on them. Second cast a nice little chunker just hammered it. A good say 16 or so inches. Next cast same thing. A little guy in the 3rd cast and after that it slowed down as the water started falling out. Seems like they are slowing it down similar to what they did yesterday. Caught all fish up between outlet 1 and the cable tonight. Work, wrangling kiddos, driving, and me getting old has me back in bed early tonight... It's a good pattern if they keep it up. If waters still off when I get up may take my oldest out to go see what we can find.
  20. Had some decent jig action on a 3/32 black head and grey body. Lost a nice one right out in front of me... Good to get the rust off though. Switching over to jerks now.
  21. Off to a late start getting down... Finally just now hitting the water. The website shows 0 generation, 20cfs, but the lake level looks to be about 3 units running... Weird.
  22. So I'm failing miserably at trying to fish Taney once a month... I've had some good trips, but work and personal life have been just beating me down relentlessly. I've just not been able to get on the water as much as I'd like. Luckily I have a long weekend starting tomorrow and although it's more of a family trip, I'm looking forward to some time in water again. Duane's trip today definitely got me pumped up. Hoping to throw jerks and jigs in the dark. I'll be hunting for some Walters to take home too. As usual I'll try to keep this post rolling, and if anyone wants to join me for some night time monster hunting just shoot me a PM. 24 more hours to go... can't wait, and hope I at least get a few windows of low flow to play in.
  23. How bad was it today @Phil Lilley ? I know you said 1 to 4 inches. See they bumped back up to 3 units again too.
  24. That's really cool, and a nice addition to the site. Maybe one day I'll make it on there
