  1. Champ, sound like it was a Mutual of Omaha kind of day. For those not old enough to know it was Wild Kingdom. Eagles, turkeys, ducks and fish, oh my!! The water color looks real good too. Nice healthy looking fish. Mike
  2. We really shouldn't worry about most of the millennials because if they don't catch fish a few times out and when they realize they don't get a participation trophy, they will quit fishing and move on to something else. Mike
  3. Got on the water about 1pm and fished till 4pm just past Indian Point. WT was 66 to 68. Still very clear. Saw fish on beds but did not cast to them. Managed to catch 15. Only 1 keeper SM. Many 14" though. Stayed with the shakey head lizard and when things got slow picked up the pbj Ned and began catching them again. Saw pleasure boaters just drifting in the main channel so I had to maneuver through the obstacle course. Don't mind them, I just wish they weren't spread out on the S curves. Oh well, sharing the lake is good for all. BTW, I did have 3 hits on a TW horny toad. TW is pretty close. I'll have a couple of extra rods on the deck with TW from now on. Mike
  4. Bferg, earlier this year I bought 2 Raymarine Dragonfly 7pros and had Ulrich install them for me. Those guys commented on the clear picture. I am by no means a techie so I wanted something that was clear and simple to use. I have used it to locate fish and even caught some pulling a lure through what I saw on the units. I'm not sure when you are ready to buy but if you want to check out the units on my boat send me a PM. Good luck. Mike
  5. I launched from Moonshine around 10am Wednesday and fished until 1:30pm. WT was 60.4 to 63.2. I fished small cuts off of a major creek. Many bedding fish can be seen in that super clear water. Every bed I saw was next to a log, stump, rock or something. Some had fish on them while others had fish cruising nearby. Green slime is still there. Caught 8 all non keeper and all LM. 2 on a shakey head lizard and 6 on a spinner bait. I purposely did not throw the Ned just to get reacquainted with the bite on other lures. Beautiful day to be out. Mike
  6. What Dave said. Mike
  7. QB, I have a table I can bring and I have all the plastic utensils, paper plates and napkins. If Muddy is getting there early we can drop off our stuff before the start time. Along with the permits. Mike
  8. QB, nice day indeed. Thanks for the details. Mike
  9. Ive got the new permits and will bring copies Mike
  10. Hunter, take 13 south to 86 and make a right turn on 86. Takes you right to Eagle Rock. We will be at the camping area and boat launch on the left. Mike
  11. rps, I've got all the plates, utensils and napkins. Mike
  12. rps, nice. It looked like the wind was having its way with most boats today. Mike
  13. kdc, nice looking fish. It looked a little windy out there today. Mike
  14. Gary, drive up there by land at 2:30 and join in the picnic. By the way fish only have to be weighed at eagle rock. You can put in and fish anywhere. Mike
  15. Gary, thanks for the report and congratulations on the derbies. If you r down on the 22nd we have the forum one bass tournament out of Eagle Rock. It is a time to meet the folks on the forum. Mike
  16. 176, I use 5.4.1s for cranks and 7.1.1 for jigs. I like the slower reels for cranks because they don't move too far too fast in the water. On the other hand when a fish picks up a jig they swim away and I've got to catch up with it quick. Not sure my theory is correct but it works for me. Mike
  17. 96, don't your reels get wet when you launch the boat? Lol Mike
  18. Rps, nice 3 hour trip. Healthy looking fish and the water color looked real good. Thanks for the information. Mike
  19. I'm in a tournament every time I get on the water. I have always either finished 1st or 2nd. Those times I didn't win, my competitor (the fish) won. Mike
  20. Nice reports from both of you. Lizard bite tells me it is gonna get real good soon. Nice pics Quill. Mike
  21. I've been catching them inside the coves on secondary points in the dam area. Mike
  22. Bill, thank you for the report. The various posts by forum members confirming that the bigger fish are few and far between because of the life cycle stage is something I have wondered about for a number of years. We have to put that in our knowledge base and monitor the movement to the spawn. If we understand it, we can replicate it each year. And since TRL is so big, it is possible that there are different stages going on in the different areas of the lake. And this is one of the reasons why this forum is so valuable. We get daily reports from fisherman all over the lake who provide information about the stage in their area. Again thank you to all who contribute. By the way, 3 hours in Beardsley and you got out intact. Abk's watchdogs must have been off duty. Mike
  23. In my context I was referring to topwater lures. Mike
  24. Quill, thanks for the details. I saw a big bass sitting on a bed in about 4' of water in the back of a cut behind a dock on Tuesday. WT was 58.6 and I just watched for a while and didn't throw to the fish. I agree they are getting ready. My next time out will include a couple of TW lures on the deck. Mike
  25. Z521, Good luck in the BFL and welcome to the Forum. This is your place to contribute information as well as absorb useful information about TRL. Mike
