  1. Champ, nice fish and thanks for the confirmation on the jerk bait. I have that same one tied on for this weekend. I did not throw it up there last weekend but was hoping with the colder weather this week, it might be worth a try so I left it tied on. Great water color. Any idea on the WT when you finally got in the water? Mike
  2. Maybe somebody should call Indian point village and ask them if their town idiot is missing. Mike
  3. Bill, the spot across from Roaring River was one of those that I circled for my trip this past Saturday. I saw it on the map and when I went there to check it out there was a boat sitting on it. But your advice is spot on!!. I long time ago a wise fisherman told me to look at the land that is out of the water and imagine that was under water. That will give you a pretty good idea of what the lake bottom looks like. I do exactly that and compare it to paper maps and my electronics. It is amazing how much sense it makes. Again, thank you for the valuable information. Mike
  4. Quill, nice fish!! Thanks for the report. Mike
  5. Jeff, let me know if I can bring some food/snacks, etc also. Mike
  6. Flatbottom boy, nice day indeed. Great pictures. Thanks for the report. Mike
  7. I saw 3 teens (2 boys and a girl) in Rock Creek on Saturday jumping off the edge off the dock. They had a surf board in the water and took turns sitting on it while the other 2 jumped in. I just shook my head and shivered watching them. Crazy! Mike
  8. This information is awesome!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I absolutely agree with fishing your strengths and learning new things. I proved that last year with the Ned. Now I don't leave the ramp without it. I hope that this year will be my year of gaining confidence to fish off shore a bit more. And the way I will gain that confidence is to stay with it. When I prepare for a trip this year I will study the paper map, select a number of spots based on all this valuable information and stay with that plan. These trips will be an education for me so that when I retire next year I will have a better understanding of TR. Mike
  9. Cheese, thanks for the report. There is always next weekend. Mike

Thank you for the report. Sounds like a quality day for you. Mike
  11. Bill, since I have not fished any water up that way I studied the map during the week and circled 6 spots I wanted to see. All of them fit the description you mentioned as I too thought it is the beginning of a transition time. Of the 6 spots I circled, Quillback was sitting on one of them. And boats were sitting on 2 others. 2 boats were sitting on that spot at the entrance to rock creek. But I only had a couple of hours and wanted to check out the workings of the boat and motor. So when we found one of the transition spots I circled without any boats we dropped the trolling motor and threw an a-rig at the fish sitting in 15' - 20' feet on the edge of a drop. Caught my first a-rig fish and felt like I actually learned something with the pre-planning. I truly appreciate everyone's posts because it is helping me as I learn to fish TR. Bill, thank you for the insight and words of wisdom. Mike
  12. Quillback, good to meet you also. When we left you and entered Rock creek there was another silver and black Phoenix with a merc sitting at the mouth. Sounds like you had a pretty good early bite. Good color in that area. We will try to hit it again next weekend. Mike
  13. Thanks for the report. That dog needs to go to pointer school to help you out. Lol nice pictures. Mike
  14. Ham, maybe after the March 12 tourney. Since a bunch of us will be there. Mike
  15. Don't anyone show this to my wife!!! She'll put all my gear on eBay. Mike
  16. We put in around 11 at eagle rock. WT was 49-50.2. About 4 foot visibility. First time being in that area so we rode around and looked at a lot of water. Stopped to talk to Quillback for a few minutes. Then left and went to rock creek. We fished about an hour and the rest of the time checked out the boat, live wells, electronics. Took out at 1:15. Caught my first a-rig fish. It really slammed into the lure. I took Bill Babler's advice and gave Ulrich Marine a laundry list of little things to fix on my boat and motor. I have to say that they did a fantastic job. Full motor tune up, identified the problem I was having was due to a voltage regulator, they fixed my live wells and some other small items. I was very satisfied. Here is the picture of the keeper. All in all it was a great day. Mike
  17. Steve McB, nice report thank you. I'm heading that way tomorrow. Great pictures. those fish sure are fat. It looks like they just left the Golden Coral Buffet!! Mike
  18. rps, thank you for the report. I think I will put in at Eagle Rock tomorrow and head towards Big M. Hopefully I can post a positive report. I'm really going there to run my boat as I pick it up from Ulrich in the morning. They were repairing my live well pumps and some other misc. stuff. Nice picture and your bait looks huge! lol Mike
  19. MO, Nice LOZ fish. I fish LOZ once a year with a bunch of railroaders in May. It is a small tourney out of Point Randall. I know that springtime is a good opportunity to catch a nice jag there. Congratulations. Mike
  20. Thanks for the repot. I hope to get me some of the rc action this weekend. Mike
  21. I'm going to use this as an excuse for why I have to hoard more than one of a lure. Anybody think this will work...."honey the reason I need 3 of these in all 10 colors is because it is likely that this bait company will be bought out and moved to China and the quality will go down fast. Remember how that happened to wiggle warts? And now the original ones are priced way out of my range." Anyone think it will work? Mike
  22. lymorej, thank you for the report and pictures. Sounds like you were flexible with your plan. By the way, any idea what the water temp was in those areas? Mike

    Xcalibur is done

Trophy, I ordered a bunch in December. I had the same problem. I had the best luck with the sq bills and the deep divers. I couldn't get the WW knock offs to run straight no matter what I did. Last time I'm going there. Mike
  24. Ben, thank you for the data points. Good information. Mike
  25. Bill, your insight is priceless. Besides the fishing angle, living on the water most of the time means dealing with septic systems and wells. We chose to live off the water but close enough to get to long creek, Indian point, aunts creek, KC, Bridgeport and mill creek in a matter of minutes. Another reason why your reports as well as the other contributor's reports are valuable to a guy like me that is trying to learn the lake. Believe me when I say that I appreciate everyone's contributions to this forum. Mike
