  1. Well, after reading all the posts about the WP, i finally got a hold of one. I tried it out on Saturday from the shore near the Patterson Duck Club's docks in the dam area. I just had a small amount of time to try it so I made only 10 casts and caught this LM and then a short KY. The thing I noticed is that both fish slammed it hard. Looking forward to using it when i can spend some time on the water. I am just happy that I found this LM in the dam area! By the way, nothing great about the casts. The fish in the picture hit near a rock pile just off shore and the KY hit off the end of the dock. I was just using a steady retrieve. Wow it kicks up some water! Mike
  2. John, welcome to the site. I fish a lot of the same area so I will look forward to your reports. Mike
  3. Nice jag. sounds like a good day. Mike
  4. It seems as though a lively discussion about seasonal patterns is the topic and will include the different baits to use during a particular season so we might cover all the baits mentioned above. I'd really like to know more about the transition from early fall to late fall to winter patterns as that is where we are now. Mike
  5. Nice wallie. We caught one very similar a couple weeks ago in the same area on a crank bait. It was the 2nd one this year. Good to know they are there to be caught. Mike
  6. The COE ramp by the dam is called Moonshine and at that time of the evening it is on the honor system for payment if you do not have an annual pass. Ramp is open all night. Mike
  7. I'm still laughing!!!!!!!!!! Mike
  8. Quill, I think that is a great idea. I'll be there on November 3rd at 7pm. If someone wants to identify a topic for the first scheduled chat that will be great too. otherwise it can be just a free discussion. Mike
  9. When I fish, I always set my mind that my next cast is the one that will catch a fish. That way I am never disappointed. On those days when I did not get a bite, I tell myself that it is because the bite was gonna be on my next cast but I ran out of time. Helps keep me sane. Mike
  10. Nice action. Trolling? Mike
  11. Nice report for your first one. Welcome. Sounds like a good mix of fish hanging around together. Now we just want to figure out why the 10 were hanging around the one boat slip. Bait fish there? first or last boat slip? brush pile underneath? Mike
  12. Bo, sounds like a fun couple of days. Nice pictures of some healthy LMs. I guess I am going to have to learn the upper end if I want to catch a jag of LMs. Down by the dam area it has been mostly SMs this year for me. Mike
  13. Congratulations on your 2nd place finish and in your first tournament!!! Like Champ said now you will be looking at entering more tournaments. Hopefully you won't be swayed to get lookalike jerseys. Keep it real and have fun. Cashing a check is the icing on that tournament cake!! Mike
  14. That is exactly what i was thinking about when I posted about using my cell phone camera. Public posting may cause behavior to change. Mike
  15. Very well said. From now on I will keep my cell phone handy to take a picture of those that are causing hazards. Moving forward, I think that it is time we post pictures/videos of the jerks we encounter on the water. Mike
  16. Hammer, nice report sounds like a good time on the water with your son. I've wondered all year where the black bass have gone. Mike
  17. Nice trip and glad to see some pictures. I'm thinking that I have to read up on targeting smallies. Mike
  18. Dan, i don't specifically fish for them but we have caught 2 over 20" this year in the dam area on crank baits while fishing for bass. there are others on here who fish for them specifically and they can provide better information. Mike
  19. Glad Alex wasn't out on Saturday morning. lol Mike
  20. Walleye was on a sq bill next to a stump. Shad color with a little yellow on it. Mike
  21. Finally we were able to get on the water for a few hours Saturday morning from 8-11:30am. We fished the first cove inside Jacques Creek before Rock Lane Marina. Water was 72 with good color and nice ripple on the water from the wind. Only caught 10 fish but 5 were keepers. Kind of a mixed bag. My friend caught his first walleye and it was 23" so he was very happy. We had 2 keeper small mouth on sq bill shad color crank bait, a keeper KY that blew up on a bone color super spook in an empty dock stall, a keeper KY that blew up on the same lure on the point. Missed the bigger one that blew up on the next cast to the same spot. The keepers were 15" to 16" nothing large but certainly was a good few hours of fun. Mike
  22. Champ, thanks for the report. sounds like a fun morning with numbers and keepers. Mike
  23. Bill, thanks for the update. Looking forward to your report next week. Mike
  24. Thanks for the details. Sounds like a fun time for the family. Mike
  25. Thanks for the report. I have to enjoy the success (or lack of success) of the anglers posting on this forum because i have not had an opportunity to get on the water for a couple of weeks. I really appreciate the information that everyone posts. Mike
