  1. Do you know the number on the bottom of that form?
  2. Top one looks especially deadly
  3. Nice smallie.
  4. “Snapped this picture right before it exploded”
  5. This is great! Thanks so much for posting. Hopefully I can bring my son with me next year and follow your lead
  6. Nice fish. I’ve spooked up more than a few fawns like that. Amazing how they stay put until you accidentally touch them with your foot.
  7. Thanks. Nice fish.
  8. Yes you’re right. Those aren’t actual Dutch ovens they’re chicken cookers with round drip lids
  9. I found a whole lot of Wagner and Griswold pans and Dutch ovens at an estate sale in California ten years ago. I bought two boxes, about 20 items for $40. After my sisters and mother picked through it all I think we have two left lol. I’d let them borrow one and they would beg to keep it until I gave in.
  10. For all you creek/lake stompers and kayak fishers out there…. My fly fishing pack has two ports that will fit a small diameter aluminum rod tube. I only have the newer style soft on the outside rod cases so when I want to bring more than one rod it starts to become cumbersome. Also, I like to travel light so I ended up with this.. Five dollar fluorescent bulb storage tube in the light department at Home Depot. A few end caps for round tubing at true value. A six dollar roll of camo gorilla tape. It made three rod tubes for about $12. I put three strips of tape on each tube long ways overlapping and one layer around each end to hold it down. Definitely not bulletproof but much better than just having it in my sock sticking out of the bag. The gorilla tape increases the strength and could be handy to repair a boat or bandage something if needed heh. bonus foot picture
  11. Thanks! Those are beauties. What size bead head would you recommend iydm?
  12. Good to know. I went way upriver the next morning and caught three browns and two large mouth on the same rig. Didn’t even untie. I put it on the wall after that to preserve the ju-ju. Are there other patterns that do well with carp around here? I’d love to do that again. Loved every second of it. Phone ran out of batteries so I only got one picture.
  13. Thanks. There was one swimming with it that was probably twice the size. Thank goodness it didn’t bite first 😮
  14. Thanks! Yeah it was my first time targeting one as well so I may well be ruined. Do they usually take crawfish patterns?
  15. Right there with ya on the fishing and trouble lol

  17. Recently I’ve decided to try to familiarize myself more with fly fishing so I’ve made it a point to keep my fly rods with me in the truck. I have a 2wt and a 5wt. Last week I was working in eureka and I decided to check out a spot on the Meramec before work and I caught two large mouth but while I was there I spotted some carp feeding on the surface. Couldn’t really see the fish because of the light and glare angle. We finished the job early so I slipped back down to the bank and decided to go to upstream and climb a 15 foot tall mud bank for a better view. I saw dozens of carp patrolling the edge in groups some feeding on the surface some on the bottom. Some were huge. Fortunately I decided not to use my 2wt (though it was set up and ready) and I grabbed my 5wt and put a crayfish pattern on. About ten casts later agroup of five headed towards my fly and a I gave it a little strip. They all spasmed at once and instantly muddied the water as my line went tight. I jumped down the bank as the fish headed out to the middle and down stream. I have no idea how I turned him back towards me. I think I had maybe five feet of backing left before he came back up river. I had four pound tippet on the end. My dad and brother were nearby and took some photos and brought my net from the truck. Took me about an hour and 45 minutes heh.
  18. I feel you on this. Having plucked two +27" wild bred rainbows from our place in the Pacific Northwest on stream that I've never even seen another man fishing, it's hard to feel the same connection to nature for me standing elbow to elbow at a park here in Missouri. I just don't get the same primal feeling. That said, I grew up on the Black, Current, Jacks Fork and Eleven Point and when I'm chasing goggle eye and smallmouth, I feel right at home.
