I was thinking about this and it’s possible to get both. I love my job but it took years to get here. I work remotely. Don’t travel. Get 4 weeks of vacation a year and if I loop them in with 3 day weekend holidays it gives me 5 at least. I used to have pictures of all the bridges I’ve supplied piling for but it got to be too many so the end product is cool to me at least. I did the Lewis and Clark viaduct over the Kansas River in KC. Not sure it’s open yet because piling is so early in the process. i know a few other guys that love their jobs too. Some are in their late 60’s and don’t want to retire because they like it so much.
