  1. Just like trout fishing below the dam. We tried several different drift lanes until we started catching fish and then stuck to that one. It was in January and it was cold. It's been 25 years ago I bet. Pete
  2. Yep, true story. After he passed away he was voted into the Federation of Fly Fishers Legends of the Southern Council in 2011. He had a whole bunch of awards over the years and I got to meet a lot of famous fly fisherman from him while I was growing up. He served in many roles for the Federation, Trout Unlimited and Ozark Fly fishers. I didn't realize how lucky I was to be around all those legends when I was growing up. The memories I have of fishing and hunting with those guys are awesome. Pete
  3. I went years ago. We killed em with Chartreuse jig heads tipped with minnows. Right below the dam with ice chunks floating around. Pete
  4. Cardiac Hill and Suicide down river. My dad is the one who had the heart attack coming up the hill that they named the hill after. Pete
  5. I'm open to either. Pete
  6. Cody is in the house! Where have you been all year? Pete
  7. Do you have a dehydrator? Is there a method to dry them without a dehydrator? That looks really good. Pete
  8. What did he catch it on?
  9. Joe, joe, joe..... You just can't help it, can you? They're all big fish. Pete
  10. That's a beauty ! Details? Method of catch? Released? Pete
  11. I'm in!!!!!!!!!! I can prolly come down Thursday too. Pete
  12. Two plus units around the clock. Check out he lake level graph. You can pick around the edges. Pete
  13. Wrench, Do you hear of 10 pounders caught at LOZ? Pete
  14. "You won't catch as much fish as bait," I don't agree with this. Pete
  15. My buddy's son caught this last week in Florida. 12.2 pounds. Pete
  16. I agree too. Me and a buddy were curious of what bass weigh so we bought a digital scale and played guess the weight. We guessed way high until we had weighed dozens of them. After that we would guess within a half pound either way. The only reason I caught 8 pounders was access to a private lake that had them. Never caught anything above 5 in any other lake. Unfortunately the lake was used to water crops and several years ago during that long hot spell they drew it down to empty. Sad day my friend. Pete
  17. Wasn't 915 the old lake level? Pete
  18. The topic of double digit largemouth came up in another thread so I wanted to see what everyone thought. Took me 40 years to get one over 8 pounds. Now I have several. State record out of Bull Shoals was over 13 pounds but was caught back in 1961. I always thought north of Hwy 70 would be pretty tough to catch a 10 lber. How common are double digit largemouth in MO? Pete
  19. Double digit largemouth this far north. Wow! That's saying something. Heck I had to Google up the sate record. Are ten pound bass common in MO??? Took me 40 years to get an 8 lber. Pete
  20. Yeah the whole management of the Park seemed to change. I don't know enough about what goes on down there but man did they ruin a nice place. I heard they put some patio at the spillway but I haven't bothered going there since the pipe was put in. Pete
  21. You guys kill me. Fishing 4-5 days a week!!! Pete
  22. Al said, no bubble gum flukes My daughter would quit fishing without bubblegum flukes. I got her into bass fishing using a white fluke because you can't hardly screw it up. I took her to bass pro and I said why don't you pick out what you think will work. That pink fluke surprised me so much I throw it quite a bit now. Then again ,maybe it's these metro sexual bass we're catching in the suburban lakes around here. Pete
  23. Yeah Tony's on Main is one of my favorites. Ate there Saturday as a matter of fact. I'm surprised Ham and Griz Wilson haven't replied. But maybe they are lucky enough to be fishing instead of this. Pete
  24. I've been going to Bennett for many years. 40 plus. The past 5-7 my experience relative to the past is only bad and ugly. We quit going when they put that stupid pipe in below the main bridge. Too bad too, I have a lot of family memories there. Pete
