  1. Great read Vernon. Too often the easements are forgotten and they were put in place for a reason. Could explain the sadness but lack of anger the folks on taneycomo display in interviews. Having owned above Truman on the Osage those flood easements are binding and watched. The farmers up that way are real gamblers.
  2. If you go, give a report. I get avoiding storms, debris happens just have to be aware and take appropriate action.
  3. I picked last place. Had no idea zero points for an angler was possible until yesterday. Who weighs negative 1.0 at the elite level???
  4. Cutting my teeth on Truman, it seems Mother Nature has more impact than man ever could on fish populations and size. With the intent of the lakes being flood control, what reproduction we get is what it is. Win some, lose some Same goes for waterfowl hunting. Corp seems determined to pull a lake out of the vegetation just before a migration. Not sure MDC is the culprit so much as the lakes (LOZ aside) exist for a different purpose and recreation is a byproduct. The rock always seems to have fish for me and more than it used to.
  5. Both wires to my graph are in a loom with some slack so they point straight in with a gentle curve. Bushing going thru the glass so there is zero "pull" on them. Perhaps having them bound together makes enough misalignment to keep them anchored?
  6. In my experience it depends on how the lake comes up and the temps of water coming in. Fast raise and warm in flow some chase it and a guy can junk fish. Fast raise and cooling, man can it be tough. Seems like they stay wherever they were and let the lake come up over them and wait it out for more stable conditions to really bite again. If if they were on a bed 5' deep they will be that plus whatever the rise is.
  7. Albright all the way. I along with my son use braid exclusively on spinning gear. He gets more twist than I do and he tends to reel against a slipping drag where I try not to. Usually have a leader in excess of 5 ft which runs the knot into the guides every cast. Zero issues with the leader knot and ALWAYS wrap the braid over loosely folded over fluoro. Never ever never kink fluoro as a leader or even tying a palomar knot.
  8. That is wild. Aquarium for it?
  9. Thanks. I recently re powered with a rebuilt series 2. Got conflicting break in info from the dealer. Double oil/no double oil. Near as I can tell, and per manual, no double oil. Was curious what hydrotec suggested.
  10. HPDI? If so, what break in advice did you receive?
  11. Yep. Not 100% coverage but plenty to go around.
  12. Our local Scott Clift didn't have the fish but sure represented himself well. Class act on stage. Have to root for the regular guys in an event like this.
  13. Any chance your tach has a dial on the back to change its inputs? Kind of a buckle sized circle with a pointer? if so, make note of where it is set and dial one way, back past setting then to your set point. If contacts are dirty they get flaky. If not, disregard. Works on faria type gauges
  14. I'll start by saying this is fear based. Blew one up this week, replacing it with a freshly built direct injected engine. I doubt the gas in my tank caused the issue at hand since it put a hole in the block but (back to the fear part) I'm wanting to hedge my bets on fuel cleanliness and avoid pump/injector problems. Thinking about adding another 10 micron fuel filter in the bilge area. Any cons?
  15. Way off RK wart topic but... are the bilge area fuel filters worthwhile for an HPDI to help further with fuel cleanliness? i poked a hole in the side of my 200 merc Thursday and am swapping it for a newer Yamaha
  16. Got out for a few hours today. Yesterday, all largemouth on stickbaits. Today all spots on a drop shot 30 - 40' deep. On the upside a couple were real footballs most were short. I'm looking forward to a different part of the lake. Hopefully Friday.
  17. That's been my rule and my rig is in a slip in long creek thru Thursday. Trying to view it as a learning opportunity instead of a hindering. Is the sun the key to grub swimming?
  18. Ok, so between sub freezing temps and family time I've made it out for few hours a few times since Saturday. Mostly Indian point to 86. Had a strong jerkbait bite this afternoon, suspended fish not necessarily on cover. So, with clearer skies do they still bite some other technique? normally, I'd point a boat to dirtier water if there was sun showing. With that in mind, I've never tried to catch a bass by the dam with sun in the sky. Any tips?
  19. Thanks. Intend to fish a lot next week with my son. So far, he hasn't had the best of luck with algae or weeds on other lakes. Had not considered the impact of wind on it.
  20. So, I've heard there is algae/moss/slime from KC to the dam. Is there a stretch of lake where it is not as prevalent?
  21. I bought an obscure impeller from there a while back. Not Amazon but not terrible.
  22. My wife put a picture of me when I was under 5 with a couple of bass next to my son with his first bass in a frame for me. Pretty cool. Reminds me clothes look much better now, I have no idea why my parents didn't cut my hair and my son is way lucky to fish like he does.
  23. #5 is THE hook. Owner stinger holds its edge for sure (Jim @ Sportsman's). Gamakatsu and mustad work well too. 5s won't tangle like other sizes. No loss of action on old or new, serious catch rate improvement with owners not cheap, but worth it if $ is on the line

    Cabin Fever

I bought straw today to cover my already up asparagus. 50's are easy to find on Stockton.
  25. Thanks guys. I cut my teeth with a stick bait at l of o 20 some years ago. Rule of thumb I learned there was white belly in sun, orange or gold in clouds. As you all know, stickbaits have changed a LOT in 20 years. Is there no concern for sky conditions for color selection on table rock? Water color/visibility only?
