Great images! Thanks for the report!
  2. On the flipside of what Dave said...there's usually a good showing of top of the line ($50k+) boats that Dad and Mom provide to make sure their kids have the very best. The disparity is quite interesting to say the least. Awesome to see anglers volunteering their time and boats to help get kids involved though. I would do the same if I had the means. Great job guys!
  3. I've had the same issue with the Elaztech's getting too hot and gooping when out of their bags. I pre-rigged up a bunch of them with Loctite and everything, arranged them all in a Plano and stored them in my garage. Learned quickly that was a poor place to store plastics when I went out there to grab them for a fishing trip and half of them had flattened/melted. Now I just keep them in the bags and pre-rig the night before based on what I think I will use.
  4. Looking to try my hand at drop shotting this weekend around the Cape Fair area. Any recommendations of worm types/colors? Areas to target? Have heard great drop shot reports from areas further down the lake where the water clarity is better but not sure what to expect in the Cape Fair area. Any help/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks to all who contribute on this wonderful forum!
  5. PM Dtrs5kprs and he will get you set up right. You won't be disappointed.
  6. I just wanted to say that I have been reading a ton on fishing the Ned Rig on these forums and have really enjoyed using the little guy. I have experimented with all different sizes of the Z-man Shroomz and BPS’ own version of the mushroom jig head in both weedless and open. I tend to do a lot of my weekday fishing at a large local pond that has a bottom littered with branches and algae. I would get hung up about every 4-5 casts and would end up losing about 2-3 jigs a day. So I decided to order some of Dave’s (Dtrs5kprs) custom Ned Jig’s since many have said they are great. Well let me tell you, these are by FAR the best Ned Rig Jigs you can use. I fished the 1/16oz last weekend and was amazed how well it did with all of the cover on the bottom of the pond. After 5 hours of fishing I only got hung up once. I don’t normally review products but I was really blown away by how much better Dave’s Jigs fished than all of the other ones I have tried. Not to mention setting that #2 Mustad hook was effortless. I HIGHLY recommend anybody fishing the little guy to take a look at Dave’s jigs. You can really tell all of the experimentation he has done goes right into the way these rigs are setup. Great stuff!
  7. No problem at all, was great meeting you and your wife, albeit the circumstances. Thank you for all of the advice and the great tackle. Can't wait to try it out!
  8. My name is Andrew and I live in Springfield. My in-laws own a lake house near Cape Fair so I spend a lot of time in the James arm of the lake. I recently got in to fishing (about 6-8 months ago). The only experience fishing I had growing up was with my Uncle in Minnesota (when I was just a little guy) as my dad was a not much of an outdoorsman. So I am learning how to fish on my own for the most part. I have spent many many hours on this forum reading the different posts and articles to gain a better understanding of, essentially, how to fish. To say the least, I have learned an absolute ton from all of you and I thank you full heartedly. I had the pleasure of meeting Pepe and his wife yesterday down near Campbell Point. The circumstances were less than ideal (motor troubles) but I must say that they were both stand up members of this community. Pepe gave me a bunch of great pointers on fishing that area of the lake and even gave me and my wife's cousin (who was with me fishing) a bunch of his custom swimbaits and tackle for helping him out. He had asked if I was a member of this group and I told him I had been a sideline viewer for quite a while but after meeting him I know this was a group I wanted to be a part of. So again, thank you all for all of the information and advice you present on these forums. As a TRULY novice fisherman I have learned a ton and continue to do so each day. While I may not have a ton to contribute I look forward to being a part of a great community. -Andrew
