Love the pics and keep posting them. I need to get my smallie fix vicariously through the forum since I can't be there enough.

Here's the build thread on the first boat. I don't know why the photo of the green boat pops up below. Anyway, new one is going to be exactly the same design and plans, just shortened and narrowed to 17' x 34" instead of 20' x 40". Click the link below. Now, I said I'd have this under construction by now and there has been a delay due to cold weather and other issues. Hope to start soon.

Coming down the weekend of February 17-18 to fish. I haven't been down that early in the year yet. Is lower BS historically starting to warm up on the bass fishing by then or should I just trout fish? Doesn't matter to me which I do, whichever is the better bite, I'm happy doing either. Just me coming down so if anyone wants to come down and wants a free place to stay for the weekend I'm open.

Science panel backs lower drunken driving threshold.

I've been going to China more often lately. My host will not have one drink and drive. We take the Chinese version of Uber when we are going out for the evening. China has instituted a 0.00 alcohol policy. He said the fine for him as an ex-pat is the equivalent of a $30,000 fine and likely deportation. As a communist country they have mandatory checkpoints on most main arterial streets and portable check stations that are moved around often. It could be worse. -
Nice! I have an STI Executive and they make some sweet handguns. Good price!

Thanks for the offer. The plans are detailed for the original boat as designed, just need to adjust some dimensions for each piece so that it all works together. Pretty much done with it.

Still happy with the purchase. Location is perfect, right between the river and the lake. I keep catching myself checking Zillow and I still haven't found one that I wish I would have purchased instead. I do need to quit looking - eventually something will trigger buyer's remorse! The high water hasn't bothered me because I still have the river in any lake condition.

So, after building my first trout boat, after talking with people here on the forum and at JigFest I think it's time to build another one. This is going to be a smaller boat for smaller rivers. OK, really I'm building a boat for floating the Buffalo. I have been updating the dimensions on the plans to give me a boat that is 34" wide on the floor and 16'6 long. The length is a result of the bottom being limited to two sheets of plywood and only one joint in the center. I'll have to scarf the sides from three pieces as they will be slightly longer than 16' but that will allow me to stagger the joints away from the joint in the floor. The rest of the build will be pretty much the same as my previous boat. I'm going to eliminate the transom knees and the doubled rear ransom to reduce weight as much as possible. I shouldn't need either of those two modifications on a low powered boat. Targeting a finished weight of 150 lbs. That may be optimistic but should be close. The plan is essentially a float-only boat with the exception of a two stroke 4hp motor that I already have at home. It will primarily be used to be able to get from the mouth of the Buffalo back to Buffalo City ramp. After seeing how the 9.9 pushes the 20' boat I think the 4 hp should move it upstream ok, barring ridiculous flows. I'm planning on no trailer for this boat, just a pickup hitch bed extender when using this boat by itself or setting it inside of my 20' boat when wanting to use both boats. Should nest inside of the other boat just fine sitting on some strategically spaced foam blocks. Should start construction within a week.

Well, a company's primary objective is to make money, not jobs. It's not a charity or hobby. We continue to automate as much as possible. Primary reason is cost reduction but we have also been driven to it by lack of job candidates. I say driven to it because it takes a lot of capital to automate things. Realize that Nebraska has a 2.7% unemployment rate. Technically they say you are into the "unemployable" ranks once you hit 4% unemployment.

That is starting for right out of school with no experience. Our top machinists get around $35/hr and dang good benefits. and yes, they can work as much overtime as they want. We have several positions open that have been tough to fill. Our local trade school used to take 12 students per quarter at each of the two campuses. There used to be a waiting list to get in. Now they have closed one campus and occasionally not start a quarter when they don't have at least 6 applicants at the remaining one. It's tough finding machinists.

Possible change - regarding the three guys from Tulsa that were going to stay with me, the one I have been talking to is out and has gone silent on the other two so would there be room for me if I want to stay with y'all? Would be better than staying at home alone. I'd probably still stay home on Thursday night since I won't get in until after midnight but could show up if people would still be awake. Or stay at my house Thursday and then just come down Friday night and stay Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. OR if Sunday isn't open go back to my place. I am in meetings all day tomorrow and will check in this thread tomorrow evening.

Well, my boat partner down there bailed so I'm looking for an open seat for Saturday or Sunday just so I don't have to fish alone. I'll probably just fish alone Friday as I don't know what time I'll get moving that morning after arriving late Thursday night and have some things to do in the AM around the house since I haven't been there for a few months.
-
I'll have a spot or two, just don't expect me to know where I'm going! I'm a neophyte.
-
I did pick up a boat partner, though. He lives down there close to my house. He wants to fly fish some so I'll get a little experience with that. Looking forward to it.

Well, I recently found out that a one day meeting on the 6th turned into a two day meeting at Honeywell the 6th and 7th. Leaving for the 8+ hour drive down as soon as I'm done Thursday afternoon so I won't get in until 1:00 am or so. I was planning on taking Thursday off. I'll still be fishing Friday morning but by the time I get up and moving, get boat gas, unload some additional house things from the truck I will be running later in the morning Friday. See you all on the water.

I I have both boats down there so open to anything! Glad to see you were on some fish.

I've never seen one before with the lower on a euro mount.

The board is slow, how about a Missouri Tiger thread to liven things up
Stein replied to Jerry Rapp's topic in Sports
I was going to start a "Huskers suck" thread but it would have been short lived since no one would be able to disagree with me. So, I'll just post here. -
I'm planning on fishing Friday - Sunday, going home Monday, FWIW.

I instantlly thought of Johnsfolly and Ham
Stein replied to BilletHead's topic in General Angling Discussion
Well, you do! Here I am trying to catch a trout and Ham spends 15 minutes trying to get a poor little perch that is half frozen to death to take a jig. -

Not the state run one, I didn't use that one, but Nebraska Outdoor Forum. It's gone. -
AMERICAN CARP SOCIETY, the Trout unlimited of carp angling
Stein replied to MoCarp's topic in Throw It Down
I remember Mo Carp creeping on our local hunting//fishing board in Nebraska 7-8 years ago. Sadly it is down now, otherwise I would link his threads from that board here just so you can see that many of the "new" threads that he has posted here are virtually identical in topic and content to threads he posted there. Same topics, same pictures, same "how to" articles. Mo Carp is truly the king of "cut and paste". -
I'm late to the party but let me know what I can bring. If no suggestions I'm going with scotch and Crown Royal.
