  1. There are some guides in N WI that specialize in it especially on Green Bay. Perch and Walleye both, google Larry Smith, he has a show now and he will have a show on it probably.
  2. My kid are too smart, the kid I hire is cheaper than the repair bills. They have other chores, but I all ready bought a new mower this year to replace one with a bent shaft.
  3. ENSO positive conditions are forecast to hold on through the summer. High water might be the norm this year.
  4. This whole issue has become decidedly political. As a fellow fish head, ignore the hyperbole and vitriol and pay special attention to the FRI scientist from UW as he describes the fish themselves and the ecosystem. I am familiar with most anadromous fish on this continent and these are unique. They also are becoming extremely limited in their present range compared to their historical range. It will not affect most of us in our lifetime. The video is interesting for informational purposes. Hope you enjoy it! Sean
  5. If you go around the fourth you might hit the HEX hatch. Big Deal!!!
  6. I would have to say a fresh from the ocean king salmon. Not the best at anything, but very good at what makes a fish special. Getting scarcer, too.
  7. https://www.tu.org/blog-posts/protecting-bristol-bay-this-one-is-personal There are always better wordsmith's than myself. For thirty years I have been blessed to spend time in this region. If you don't get it, take a trip with Phil and experience the place. There were many, and only a few places like this remain in the world. Wild fish are special! The comment period basically starts tomorrow. Sean
  8. https://www.tu.org/blog-posts/save-bristol-bay Follow the link.
  9. Montauk lodge had Shorelunch on the shelf last year.
  10. Saving for the next installment Pete, Atlantics in Newfoundland in 2020. Swinging wet flies and fishing dries for wild fish before they are gone. You in? Bucket is still not empty.
  11. Tuna and some snapper came home, we concentrated on the Marlin and avgd 2-3 tuna a day in the afternoon. Fished cubera and roosters one day and could not get the cubera out of the rocks. No roosters, but have caught them in Mexico in the past. Very diverse fishery and fun. Ate like pigs, every day.
  12. Spent three days in Panama chasing the big fish and they were big. It is a destination easy to get to, cheaper than US, safe, and just plain fun. The water was full of porpoise and turtles as well. One off the list.
  13. Normally I would be in that weekend if you are going offshore. Fortunately I will be in Panama the week prior. Have fun it is a hoot.
  14. There is some pretty good cutt fishing in the rivers closer to the coast this time of year. 'You need to head toward Depoe, Bay, Florence or north toward Manzanita and Tillamook. And there is always the Deschutes with a guide and drift boat. Sorry all of my contacts are old.
  15. They explained it with the Pike. Pike have become a real problem in some areas and have taken over whole watersheds. I could take you to a lake where I fish that has stunted pike from 12-18 inches long every cast. There are a few good ones, they live on fresh water shrimp till they get so big, then..... on each other! They must have ideal spawning habitat in some of these lakes. IDK
  16. Wisconsin is a pretty place for sure, I grew up there. You forgot to mention that the barns are all well painted, Garrison Keeler could not have described it any better. I have eaten at the steakhouse during bird season. Good pheasant hunting in the area.
  17. In May fish late steelies on the pidgeon as well as big browns. The upper boardman is nice as well. There is a great drake hatch on the Maple that time of year. All of those are in the same area you will be. They are lessor known rivers, but better fishing IMHO. Like Gavin said take a canoe, but most of the rivers I mentioned are very woody. The reason for the big fish. The HEX hatch later can be hit or miss, but it is worth seeing when it goes off. Thousands of helicopters above your head. The seams on the outside of the log jams always hold some monsters. Landing one in the dark is tough. The strike in the dark will make you fill your waders. The upper sections of the Big Manistee also fish well at times. If you are inclined to chase big browns, mousing these rivers right at dark will produce fish in May.
  18. One question, how does it release to stay out of the way and let the boat use full power at high RPM's Thanks
  19. I have not fished it in 10 years, but there used to be good smallie fishing in the rivers close. As stated we were mainly chasing W and M. Have heard about the gills, just never fished them. WI lakes seem to have bigger gills in general than locally. The weather will be cooler for sure! If you're that close, a trip to superior would be worth it with the kids and the bird carvers museum in Wausau is pretty amazing. The Brule is not too far and has some good classic trout water, never hear about it much down this way. It's worth checking off the list.
  20. Found several messes in the area (Rolla) this week. It has been a good year all ready, Getting pretty green.
  21. Good time of year to fish the park. There is a lull between now and summer.
  22. This is a huge can of worms. I would not want to open it after it's been in the hot sun for several days. The repurcussions are endlees.
  23. Caught these in high and muddy last spring on bright or black 4" walleye assassins.
