  1. Maybe, but that's not what the title says.
  2. If this is half as bad as the authorities are saying, then we are about two or three months too late in getting started to prevent any spread- it has already spread or been spread. I reckon the real damage will be to the economy, not from the virus but from the preventive measures. Gas was $1.50 here today. Grocery stores with empty shelves and some with limits per shopper on high demand goods. Bound to get nasty in the high population areas?
  3. Probably results of surveys conducted 50 years ago or the whim of some long gone Superintendent? The trout program is tailored to the customer balancing happy users against cost. So if Bennett had a high use rate by live bast anglers they would likely get a set aside area. RR has very little live bait use from what I can see, and the area is long enough that the bait anglers don't have problems with others fishing in it. I have in years past fished the bait zone at RR all day and only seen one or two other people. The one time I remember fishing Montauk it seemed like everyone was using bait, again a different user group. Just a guess. Why does it matter? Just fishing put and take stockers out of a canal. Be nice if they just sold trout by the each or by the pound so one didn't have to waste time snagging them. If I want a pure fly fishing experience I go to the natural creeks and fish for native fish.
  4. Just wash yer nasty hands before posting, we'll be OK.
  5. Where is this Tackle Warehouse? Karl's? Do they have a store in NWA?
  6. I have scanned a lot of ladies over the years.... just never for custom shoes.
  7. 12,000,000 CFM? Right now the Osage is @23,500 CFS at Bagnell so think ten times that much water, if jdmidwest is correct. What is a good guess for current speed with that flow. 25-50mph?
  8. Think that's a 30-45 minute response ? I don't know but presume that 911 goes to the sheriff and then a dispatcher would route it to some water patrol who might have to transport and launch a boat or travel the length of the lake by boat, meanwhile those seconds were ticking away and the phone talker wasn't helping to paddle the boat. I don't think it would have made any difference if all three had phoned in or if sixteen bystanders on shore had all phoned in. If a rescue boat was within line throwing distance they would have responded without a phone call. Not having seen the video or having access to the 911 records we can only guess, but my guess is there just ain't time to write home in those circumstances. Phone calls would be the last thing that would occur to me in any crisis, but it would have gotten the body search underway sooner.
  9. I normally leave the phone in the truck. But if they had called who would they call and what would be the response time? I imagine that it took seconds from when they realized they were in trouble to the point of no return. Destroying all those dams would prevent this sort of thing, but nothing will prevent people taking risks.
  10. I just had an idea, vet wrap bandaging is cheap, self adhering, tacky griping etc. easy to find locally.
  11. I think I'd wrap in cork or foam tape and then shrink grip it. 1/8" thick tape gives a 1/4" diameter increase and the shrink tube gives it finish and protection. Two layers could add 1/2" to the grip. https://www.mudhole.com/Components-Rod-Building/handles-grips-components/tape-cord-shrink-tubing-handles Usually I prefer smaller and longer grips than common.
  12. The silica won't do any good unless you take it out and dry it every month or so, it just holds a small/tiny bit of water, about like a table spoon of rice would. Pickle jars are good (and free with a pickle) mouse proof storage, but jar canning takes water so that it will create a vacuum pressure on the lid to seal as the steam cools I recall going through all the fallout shelter prep back in the early '60s, the church group got access to a tin canning facility and the ladies put up all kinds of food and water, be sure to can enough water for a year or three supply, you never know. Of course back then 50# of flour or beans was normal but as part of the nuke prep Dad (and others) bought rice by the hundred pound sack thinking it would store well long term- it takes a family of four about several years to eat 100# of rice and I still don't much like it all these years later. 10 gallon milk cans were the storage container of choice for dry foods.
  13. If it was written a month ago, it was all catch and release. But you can C&R there if you want to even during the kill season.
  14. I think Cabelas died and BPS bought the carcass. Cabelas ruined Cabelas. I'd guess that from BPS view the idea was always to eliminate Cabelas from competition. Like Cabelas did with Herters, BPS will keep and use the name on some merchandise.
  15. $3 to make and $75 to sell there is a lot more money in shirts. And if you buy up and close down all competition, it won't matter if you sell goods or garbage, the only girl in town is the one most popular.
  16. It's been tossed around for a couple three years and I've seen a couple poll things asking about higher tags vs fewer trout vs higher limit vs smaller size; been a while since I read about it but I believe the public input (probably by non fishing people) favored higher limits with smaller fish and increased fees to keep the same/more numbers. Also some keeping up with the neighbors, it's always brought up how much the neighboring states charge. The urban program is gonna get all the resources it takes, for as long as it takes, long range goal is to recruit those inner city kids into becoming part of MDC so the agency is a reflection of the state's population. Currently not many of those kids go on to become wildlife biologists or fisheries managers etc. or I should say that's my guess.
  17. I once saw a video of a weed trimmer rigged as a motor at the stern for this type use, and that would probably be lighter to tote around and with a drop in yoke attachment easy to remove and stow in board. I think an oarlock might work as a mount.
  18. Jon boats I had in the past didn't portage very well. The TM was just a thought, I don't canoe a lot anymore anyway, but I always go up a ways and then back so as to avoid all the shuttle nonsense.
  19. I've seen similar things from other vendors in the past and it seemed in those instances that the earlier orders got processed and at some point they caught on and stopped the processing of or orders with the "no longer available" story. I figured it would be gone at starting time Monday morning, but computer generated and processed orders prior to BPS taking down the ad might go through. Likely that if an item normally sells two a week and you get a 1000 orders overnight that alarms go off.
  20. It was an online deal when I posted $99.99, I think- I slept since then, but I imagine that is no longer true. Actually saw that referenced on another forum where the guy said he and friends had ordered twenty; someone there said they had missed a decimal or.... I've never had a trolling motor but have considered one for upstream trips in the canoe. Wrench suggested it wasn't appropriate and I believed him. Glad some one got to take advantage of the sale. @Daryk Campbell Sr let us know if that deal went through or what happens?
  21. Saw this and wonder if it's worth while https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/motorguide-x5-cable-steer-bow-mount-trolling-motor Is that the whole set up and would it work on a canoe?
  22. I don't think the DNR wants people to use the parks at all, or maybe just for bird watching. Big undeveloped park here and I was told we can't use the Park to access the creek that borders it in two places.
  23. Even before a boat went over, anyone that can think knows it will happen sooner or later. Surprises me, but I don't do lakes so had no idea.
  24. I was looking at a map yesterday and decided that he was probably outside the park, just. Probably still good advice not to post landmarks. That is a pretty nice fish, congratulations on a pb @trythisonemv.
  25. I would have thought dams like that would have cable above the danger zone? Are all these hydro dam spillways accessible by boat?
