  1. Check out all that "rip rap"! Same! πŸ˜‚
  2. Mahseer are certainly more rare and much harder to get to. Still...it has a nice ring to it, and might even bring more much needed conservation attention to Mahseer, because certainly folks around here don't give them much thought. Bonefish are in a class by themselves too, I suppose. There are worse comparisons...look at the similarities! Practically identical! πŸ˜‚
  3. Needs a little more love....how about we call 'em "Missouri Mahseer"??
  4. Yes, I've caught most of my goldfish on these. Sometimes white is the best color for goldfish, have also caught them on silver and on chartreuse.
  5. Yes. I started off this year trying something. It caught some small grassies early in the year. Turns out all sizes of grass carp like it. You can see it in some of the pictures in the fish's mouth. Its been continuing to work very well, so I've stuck with it. It works here, hard to say if it would work as well anywhere else. I'll keep with it until they quit hitting it, I guess.
  6. 34" 15 lb+ fish from last night (also caught 2 smaller ones and lost another at the net):
  7. πŸ€ 🐭
  8. Gasconade, Niangua... I haven't been to either. Are these best approached as float-fishing streams, or good wading streams?
  9. Looking at Google Earth in Missouri, I saw this, for real! Anyone been there??
  10. I get it. I'm getting burned out, but feel like I should tough it out on the grass carp at least thru the end of the calendar year. Saw a couple snakeskin sheds yesterday.
  11. Caught 7 more Grass Carp today, bringing the annual total to an even 60. Sizes were varied. This one might be my smallest yet: Most were this size or a bit smaller: I lost a BIG one. I was really excited when I hooked up with it, then bummed when it shook free at the end of its first run. This was the biggest one of the day (I'm standing on a steep riprap slope with my camera propped up on a rock, its tough to get the right distance from the camera, and level with it, and have the fish fill most of the screen...so... had to long-arm it.): I rubbed my fish-slimed hands in the dirt just for @snagged in outlet 3 ! 😝
  12. Some days are inexplicably less successful than others, for sure. I'd love to be able to put you on some! πŸ‘
  13. Grass Carp...it what's on my radar. Having had a good year with them so far, apart from a whole month during "prime time" when the creek was flooded out and unfishable,...I plan to see how many Grass Carp I can catch with the fly rod this year. Currently sitting at 53. Here's a couple decent recent ones:
  14. A creek chub caught, is a creek chub COUNTED. Congrats, Livie! πŸ‘
  15. I heard some were protesting all the PED's that are taking over the sport. πŸ˜… I made that up.
  16. ...and 13 more grass carp.
  17. Caught some more shortnose gar, one longnose gar (no picture), while flyfishing yesterday.
  18. Sister-in-law walked her dog to the dog park daily. It had played several times with a particular pit bull with no issues. But one day that pit bull tore her dog up. Her dog survived a year or so after an expensive vet visit. Gone now. A couple months ago, my friend's wife was visiting her parents. Sitting outside, they heard horrific dog sounds, and went to investigate. A large dog was calmly holding a small beagle in its jaws. She managed to wrestle the small dog away from the big dog, but suffered some deep bites to her forearm for her efforts. The smaller dog had lost a lot of blood. She called the dog owners repeatedly over the next month, trying to find out what happened. The owners ignored her calls for the longest time. She finally heard the small dog had died. No word on any consequences for the large dog, and no offers to help pay any medical bills incurred by my friend's wife.
  19. Good luck on the rest of your trip!
