  1. Looks like he had a great time. Did he ever not smile? I can count that kids teeth!
  2. I'd love to know the statistical numerical value of "many." Anecdotal evidence from some guy around the bend just doesn't cut it. Medicine isn't perfect, but I'll take my chances.
  3. Tell us, when was the last time you voted on an income tax issue? Do you even understand how government works? The only tax issues we vote on are local property and sales tax issues. Federal taxes and state taxes that actually fund "government", which are what you're implying, are voted on by the people we elect. Federal and state workers are barely a drop in the bucket of the electorate. This is beyond nonsense and directly in conflict with the constitution which you are using to make your argument that there shouldn't be gun regulations--when the second amendment ACTUALLY STATES that guns should be WELL REGULATED. I'm mean, seriously. You want to know what's wrong with America? Ignoramuses. If you can't think critically enough to come to that conclusion on your own, when holy smokes we're screwed.
  4. The rights of the militia shall not be infringed upon. That was written before we had a national standing army.
  5. "well regulated militia" apparently the 3 most misunderstood words in the English language.
  6. If you're tempted to shoot someone over a boat ramp incident, then world really is getting dumber.
  7. I live in Republic and we haven't gotten rain since Monday. I'm sure it's good.
  8. Rivertown doesn't really have a local connection. I think I'd connect to Taney or the Resort. Taneycomo Fly Co FlyCoMo. Taney Flies and Tackle Taney Tackle Co.
  9. Saw this on Craiglist. Seems a tad high. https://springfield.craigslist.org/boa/d/saint-louis-fish-cat-streamer-xl-1r/7490190232.html
  10. It casts pretty well/far for such a short rod. It's a Bass Pro White River Fly Shop Classic and I got a Maxcatch ECO Large Arbor Fly Fishing Reel from Amazon. Turns out to be a nice little combo. My Crane reports will probably consist mostly of "I spooked some fish and lost some flies in the trees/weeds/bushes/parking lot/ball field/etc."
  11. Phil's Phly Shop. -- Awful name, but I wanted to say it anyway
  12. Those are awesome. Love catching those, too.
  13. I had the day off but got a late start. I headed down to RR late morning. I got there around 11. It was overcast and threatening rain. I had a new 6'6" 4wt road I've been waiting to try out. I drove by Crain, but it was up and while I love Crain on paper, my daughter reminds me that I never catch anything. Teenagers: harsh, but true. I wanted to try the C/R section as I don't often fish that. I went to the run a couple hundred yards up from the bridge. It looks a a tree washed in from recent rains.I started with a red San Juan on an 1/80th oz jig head. l did well on it earlier this spring but no takers. Switch to an orange bead-head. Nothing. It was so overcast it seemed like dusk. I tried a beetle near the tree and had a few swipes but no hookups. Around noon I started noticing a fluttering mayflies and surfacing fishing. They were very aggressive moving several feet to take a live fly. I had a 16 BWO, but it was too big. I got a ton of looks, but no strikes. I had a fish jump over my fly twice. Exciting, but not as exciting as actually catching. I looked for something smaller. (In retrospect, I should have had an emerger of some kind. Shipment coming tomorrow from BigY). All I had was a Griffith's Gnat, so I tried it and finally hooked up. He actually missed and came back for it, which was fun. Then very loud thunder and a lightening flash told me it was time to leave. All in all, a fun trip. I forget how "real" the C/R section feels compared to the rest of the park.
  14. Looks like magazine quality flies and photos. I'd like a glass of whatever than cork goes to as well. On the rocks, please.
  15. Cooking up severe weather since the 60s!!
  16. Are you talking about armadillos?
  17. 18 elementary school kids and a teacher were shot at school. Again, the Not In My Back Yard attitude is something I don't understand. It could be any school in America.
  18. Do you think they'll slow down releases/turbines enough for wading at the dam?
  19. On the left, it looks like your arm is straight, elbow locked. On the right it looks like the elbow is slightly bent. Just my .02. Regardless, great fish. I'm jealous.
  20. Your arms are at different angles. The one on the right it closer to the camera and that makes it look bigger.
  21. You should work for the tourism bureau. You make me want to make a trip this summer if it ever stops raining.
  22. That's a huge fish! Well done.
