There are. In Jefferson City a population of 42,535 there are approximately 60-70 homeless people, most are in shelters and might have kids as well. But there are at least at least a dozen individuals or so that are not going to shelters. They sleep in makeshift camps along the river, under bridges, in creek tunnels, abandoned buildings, etc. You can go downtown during the day and see them hanging around the Library or different other places walking around with backpacks, blankets, other carriers, etc. Most don't want any help and to be left alone. But a few may try to panhandle some, but a majority do not. And that is another thing around JC. Panhandling... Lots of people do it all around JC and most are not really in need of anything. They have cell phones, cars, etc. I wish the city would prevent that but they do nothing.
  2. I have been watching this YouTube channel of this younger guy that really knows his stuff when it comes to Lithium batteries as well as solar charging systems. He thoroughly tests all the latest and greatest products by using in his own systems and solar arrays, taking them apart to look and test each part to see if they work as described, etc. He also does a lot of time trials where he uses the systems hard for good lengths of time just to see how they hold up. He is very informative and have enjoyed learning from him. I know I do not have any skin the the game for lithium batteries except for a few flashlight batteries but I still try to keep on top of things. At some point I will be able to find my retirement boat and will be needing good batteries for trolling motor, electronics, etc. Anyway this might interest some on here of a review he had just done on a $369 Li Time 12V LiFePO4 Battery. His review is pretty thorough. You might also check out some of his other stuff. He test lots of different batteries at different price points. And is also really good at off-grid or connected to grid solar systems. $369 Li Time 12V LiFePO4 Battery! 300-500A Surge?! Low Temp Protection?!
  3. Been doing good. I sit back and enjoy your all's antics daily here on the forum. And every once in a while I put in my 2 cents.
  4. You for got to add... "then amend to soil and boosting the lawn, add ash to compost pile, use for cleaning, make soap, keep harmful bugs away, add traction to slippery walkways, soak up driveway spills, and fire control" Because @BilletHead is that kind of guy. 😁
  5. Yes, ammoseek.com is good place to search. You can save searches and set alerts based on price you would pay. It will notify you when it gets to that price or below. But sometimes it will alert you, but the business that is selling the ammo may have an inaccurate price listed on their website. I set a lot of my alert prices to pre-covid pricing or below. So I just wait for the alerts to come in. Have had a few get to those prices once in a while. Currently though, it was mainly for loose ammo that is out of the boxes. But prices are slowly going down. How far down? Who knows. So with the alerts it basically does the search for your daily and notifies (email or text) you when your price is met.
  6. I like Bird Dog whiskey. I drink their Peach and Blackberry.
  7. Thanks. looking forward to see it added.
  8. Give Fireball and Pineapple Juice as try. It sounds weird, but is surprisingly good. Try it, then upgrade it a little by adding a shot of amaretto to it as well. Flavored Moonshines on ice are my favorite, with peach being #1. But at the local bars it is Jim Beam Red Stag (Black Cherry Bourbon) and sprite or Jim Beam Peach and sprite. After 30+ years of bourbon/water, these flavored bourbon and moonshines have changed my palate. But I do not mind drinking sweet drinks.
  9. Awesome, thanks. Can there be a future request for the same to be done for Truman and LOZ tailwaters?
  10. The cameraman was in the boat the week prior. "In an effort to maintain order on the Lake Erie Walleye Trail the tournament director even put a cameraman in the alleged cheater's boat in the event prior to last week's events." I wonder how they did because it does not say how they did that week with the cameraman on board compared to other events.
  11. Hooked a barn swallow by the big stone bridge at Bennett Springs while fly fishing. I hit it mid-air with my cast and it crashed into the water. I pulled it in, unhooked the fly from it's wing, and off it went.
  12. Had to look one of those up. That is one awesome small boat. Alumicarft Competitor 175 Walkthrough (Tiller Model)
  13. I don't no much about lithium batteries. But I have read a lot of forums that talk about lithium batteries because of a jon boat I am trying to build up. Anyway this company keeps popping up in discussions. They even have Bluetooth monitoring on them. From what I hear they are very knowledgeable and can answer any questions. 14. The time has come to update my equipment for fishing Truman Tailrace. For Crappie I currently use a 11'6" Browning "Dick Swan" Noodle Rod with spinning reel loaded with 6 lb test. And for Hybrids I use a Cabela's 11' Predator 1-3/4 Test Curve Rod and bast cast reel loaded with I believe 10 lb test. These are older rods that I have used for 10+ years and have served me well. The crappie rod could cast a little better but overall it is pretty decent. Before the current crappie rod I used a standard 12' B'N'M rod it was good but not at good as my current noodle rod in casting. I like the longer rods because of the distance I can cast and also allow me to keep the fish out of the rocks/riprap along the tailrace. So now I am starting to look at any of the newer rods that I could use to replace these two. But I want them to be a minimum of 10' - max 14', with the ability for long distance casting. The crappie rod will need to be a spinning rod 4-8lb test line and be able to cast 1/16 - 1/2 oz baits. The Hybrid rod can be a casting or spinning 6 - 10 lb line 1/4 - 2 oz baits. Just looking for a smooth long casting rods. Also another issue with such long rods like the crappie rod there tends to be a balance issue sometime to where it can do a number on your wrist. They sometimes can be a little top heavy but that could be compensated by a longer handle or the ability to adjust the reel position with slip ring reel seat. I have not been down since last spring and at that time I did not pay much attention to what other people were using nor ask them brand/model rod they used. But I might have to this spring to get a better consensus of what popular and well liked. Is anyone up to date on the latest and greatest rods these days like the ones I have described or similar to my current ones? Any suggestions of rods to my specifications would be appreciated before I go down the long rabbit hole of finding the right rods.

    Say What

No problem. Thought I would share. I just wish MDC did a lot more Field to Fork events in Central Missouri. They have only had about 2 or 3 that I know of here and I was only able attend the first one. But I would love to go to more. James Worley kind of kicked off this whole Field to Fork thing in the KC area. Kind of his baby. They had many events. Not sure if it is still happening but they would go through the whole deal, butchering to cooking. Always wanted to attend one of theirs but it was usually during the week and that is a 2+ hour drive for me one way.
  16. You can also look at Mike Bakers videos on YouTube. He has a several videos on Livescope. He has some guests that he fishes with and at the beginning of the video he has the guest explain how they setup and use their Livescope. So you get several different variations to adjusting the settings, etc. You just have to go to his videos and look through them to find the Livescope info. Usually any video where it shows him fishing with someone. I have never used or been fishing with anyone that has one. So I know nothing from experience. But it seems like I learned a lot from his videos so that I know that I could operate. And learned a few tips from each of his guests that showed how they use setup and use them. Mike Baker - YouTube

Coon is great if done right. I attended a MDC Field to Fork event in Jeff City they did after I kept asking for them to do on in JC and suggested Chef Ryan Davis of Argyle Catering to do the cook. I chose him because of a couple of articles I saw in a local JC magazine about him and him doing wild game. His raccoon sliders in the article seem interesting to try. Chef Ryan Davis - Rooted in Good Food Chef Ryan Davis - Wild Game Anyway MDC did the event with Chef Ryan Davis and it was fantastic. He did the Raccoon Sliders w/ slaw, Paddlefish Jambalaya, Persimmon and Missouri Walnut Stuffed Deer Loin, and Paw Paw Muffins. Everything locally sourced from Missouri. Everything was perfect. I never tried raccoon before and was always kind of skeptical if it is really any good. But I was sold after attending this event and the work of Chef Ryan Davis. Here is his recipe he gave out after preparing all the dishes, if anyone is interested. It looks like a long process but I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
  18. True. One of the things that was listed in my post above and something I did not think about until I read it. Cold Hard Facts About Using Dry Ice in Coolers - GrizzlyCoolers.com
  19. You all got me searching about dry ice and coolers now. Ran across this little bit of info. Cold Hard Facts About Using Dry Ice in Coolers - GrizzlyCoolers.com I guess the main thing I got from this is dry ice for coolers if you are needing to keep things frozen. Not really useful for just a cooler full of sandwiches, drinks, etc. that only need to stay cooled. This YouTube channel was also very interesting. Lot of Tests on various coolers, variations, etc. https://www.youtube.com/c/CoolersOnSale/videos
  20. Haven't used a flyrod for them, but may give it a try sometime. Will have to get another fly rod in probably 6 or 7 weight in 8 or 9 foot length. Then I can use heavier flies and cast a lot further. The rods I have now are a lot lighter weight and shorter length I use down at Bennett Springs. Not much need to cast very far down there.
  21. Yep. I usually used a white hog stick. I still have a couple along with yellow one.
  22. It was my own darn fault for being in a hurry to be able to cast back out before the frenzy stopped.
  23. Had one almost 20 years ago about that size fishing same spot I mention earlier on Truman Spillway. But this one took the topwater spook and buried one of the treble hooks in my thumb when I grabbed him. So I am standing there deep hooked fish and deep hooked thumb at the same time and rod in other hand. I was having a hard time holding on to him because of his shaking so much. Was trying decide how I am going to unhook the fish and then my thumb with only one free hand. Went to grab some forceps to get it out of fish and that is when he solved it himself. By shaking so hard that I lost grip and he ripped it back out my thumb. I was bleeding everywhere. So then I release him. Luckily I had some first aid stuff in my tackle bag. Just wiped it good with alcohol swab and taped it up tight. Then I grabbed my rod because a new feeding frenzy was hitting again in front of me. It is so much fun when they all hit the surface after shad and you are almost guaranteed a instant hit hoping for the a big one. Really gets the adrenaline pumping. After that I immediately bought the smaller boca grip for landing the big ones.
  24. Based on your pics it looks like it paid off for you.
  25. Looks as if there were many that had decent season in Middle Zone. I am sure they put in the time to find and work them. Not so much for me as I did not really put in the time this year. I will do better next season.
