  1. Agree with Bry. These big fish are the small fish that made it throu the kill. They are now getting to 7-8lb size. Some out there that are bigger are ones that did not get effected by the kill. Couple years ago, 6lbers were the bigs, last year it was 7. Now its becoming 8s. That year of fish are just getting bigger. After the kill they were the top dogs almost lake wide, and their growth shows it.
  2. Thanks, Rock was sweet to us for once. Nothing different than the last tourney, just that night they were there. Got me why, Ive about to learn not to ask or try to over think the bite. Im sure she will put us in our place next time.

  4. yep, back of the creek arms. Especially if we get some water runnin in them. Cut perch worked for us, all you mentioned should work, but the goldfish are a rip off. Perch are as good and easy to catch.
  5. I would take Bills advise. Cant go wrong with those.
  6. dtrs. Im finding the same thing. They all seem to be on a different mindset. If you catch a good one, you should almost give up on that pattern and go to something else. Its weird. Thanks for the reports guys.

  8. Ok guys, whats everyones thought. We caught an 8lber this week with a bloody tail, but other than that saw no sign of spawning. Do you think they are still wanting to do their thing? Or im starting to believe that most have gave up on it this year?

  10. Easy boys, stay on target here. Winston, easy on the mention of taking your legal amount of fish.
  11. dtrs, both I guess. Went saturday night. 2 flats, 1 channel (14lb) and one huge snapping turtle. It would probably go 35lb. cut perch, could not find shad. Went around bridgeport. Back of a deep flat pocket. Will probably go again in 2 weeks.
  12. Ok guys, Im looking for the best reel and rod catfishing action in the area. Need some help. Any places and techniques on table can be suggested. Also had a buddy tell me to make the run to Stockton to catch them better. Is Stockton that much better for cats to justify the 2 hour run?
  13. I might be wrong but thing they are done already. Sure there are a few here and there but was a real bad year for the white spawn run.
  14. Lilley, you might check this link. I think they updated the maps and link has changed.
  15. Im going to bridgeport tomorrow night. Will be trying live and cut perch, and possible shad if I can get some dipped. Will make a report if I find anything worth chasing.
  16. Im with dtr. unless its cold and going painfully slow when they slowly approch it could matter. Right now, it doesnt seem to be a big deal. Char is always a good color. I normally use black just to make it kinda disappear. Color of plastic, rate of fall and location is a lot more important right now in my eyes.
  17. Caught some brownies last night, just not commenting till after the event. Partner caught one real close to 6lb, 22 inches. I was lucky to get one right at 5. Go Stacey.
  18. Ok, I want into the pool. I will take 16lb per day to make the cut (average).
  19. My turn, long story short, not many fish. I believe the water inflow was a couple degrees colder than what we had before, buddy in the james saw a 6 degree water temp drop when the water came up. This would have knocked them in the head a bit.
  20. Dennis, wonderful job.
  21. bry, dont take it wrong. Some of these guys spend days upon days on the water and if they havent run into it, then sometimes its hard to believe. Being they have seen shad do it, then it was an honest question. I thought that also when I first read it. We all hear stories from people that think they know and really they dont have a clue about the situation they are seeing. Was fishing the other day and a gentleman was telling me about fish boiling in a back of the next cove. Went over to see about catching some "easy" fish. Only thing I saw was large gizzard shad flipping on the surface once in awhile. Nothing chasing them, just their normal routine. Thought I had missed them. The gentlemen came back around and said, "Look at all those fish boiling, they are sure tearing it up." In his mind he was right, and not to argue I just left it alone. I know I run into this often, and Im sure the better guys on here run into it more than I do. Dont feel bad, keep posting.
  22. Would have been in the boat if my plumber wont have flooded that floor. Great Job.
  23. First, awesome job. wonderful guys. Saw a 26.86lb 5fish last year on the millcreek tourney. Thought that was amazing. Second, Have been watching for 3 years now the results of most of the tourneys. 3 years ago, saw a lot of 6lb fish with a few over that. Last year, saw a bunch of 7's, with a few over. Does this mean these are the same fish gaining each year? Figuring this is the first class after the fish kill, with the few that are larger being the ones that made it thou the virus? Whats everyones opinion?
  24. We done similar. Shallow fish after dark. 3 to 8 feet. Small craw plastics in black and red flake brought a 13lb limit of 5. Not the bigs we wanted. Could not get a fish deeper than 8.
