  1. they have won some stuff on table rock as well, like the AIA shootout. They may be just dang good fisherman if the passed the polygraph and are winning other tourneys that do livewell checks, polygraphs, etc
  2. Kwall, you know the rogers chamber tournament is tomorrow right?? I believe they have close to 600 folks signed up to fish. I doubt there will be a parking spot at any ramp and man will it be crowded out there.
  3. you dont have to buy a lift for your stall. you can simply pay the stall rental, tie your boat up and leave it. most people do that but the water and algea take thier toll on your boat hull. If you like your stuff to stay nice, i highly recommend getting a lift. You might even find someone at Prarie Creek who will rent you thier lift. The office would have all the info on people who have lifts for rent/sale I dont know why people buy expensive boats and then just tie them up at the marina and let them sit in the water. A guy next to me has a really nice Nitro bass boat and he let it sit in the water over the summer and that thing is covered in algea on the boat hull and motor and looks awful. Mine sits on my lift and always has the cover on it and it looks good as new. I have never had issues with my lift (knock on wood) and there is not much on them to go wrong. I had maintenece done on mine a little while back for $30 and the guy who did it told me all the parts are cheap and the repairs are quick if something does go wrong.
  4. i have a stall at prarie creek. I believe the smallest they have is 20' and its aroudn 1,200 per year and if you buy a lift for it (which i highly suggest) it will run about $3,000-$5,000 for the lift. They do not do monthly rentals but will pro rate the stall till next march when all the leases renew. they do not rent lifts but they do sell used and new lifts. I bought a used lift for my bassboat and its worked out great and they also have security too so you dont have to worry about your boat or belongings.
  5. Man isnt that the truth. Arrowhead had a "boat show" at prarie creek dock a few weeks ago. Since I keep my bassboat there and fish most weekends I couldnt help but go take a peak and enjoy one of thier free beverages. The cheapest pontoon they had was $35k and they had a tritoon pontoon with a 300hp mercury verado on it for a cool 95k. Now ski boats were just a whole other ballpark, they ranged from 75k -135k. Yes, those figures are correct... And i thought a new Ranger bass boat was expensive, it looks dang cheap next to a $135,000 wake boar boat. And how do people justify having them if they can only use them from May-Mid September and it sits in storage most of the year??
  6. thanks for all the replies guys. I do appreciate it. I have had the boat out 5 times or so and its much easier now than when I first gave it a try, but still not easy or a thing of beauty.
  7. I recently bought a Topwater river boat w/ a 20hp yamaha. I have had a bass boat for a long time but this is the first time i have had a jon boat. I was wondering whats/are they any tricks you use for loading when they are generating, I put it at cotter most of the time. The first time I had it on the river I tried to load it by coming straight in, figured out that didnt work so i got it the 2nd time by coming from downstream and cutting it into the trailer, I have done that ever since and it seems to work ok. I have a bass boat but loading that little trout boat is alot different than driving my bass boat onto the trailer. any tips would be appreciated. We had some guys load up after us and they took forever, guy couldnt seem to figure out how get it on the trailer with the current pushing him, the finally got a rope and he had his buddy pull him onto the trailer with the rope... made me feel better about only taking 2 tries to get it on the tralier the first time i put the boat in the water. Also, are there any ramps that you guys avoid due to swift current, hard to load/unload, etc etc? Thanks for the help
  8. if i put in at blue springs and run up the white river, how far do i have to go before i get into water that I could hop out and wade for white bass? I have run up the river a little bit past blue springs but probably not more than 2 miles or so? Are there shoals farther up the river that congregate the whites? and can you get over those shoals in your boat?
  9. are there quite a few whites below spider creek?? seems like that shoal below spider creek always has a few in it. How far up do they normall go, surely they dont make it all the way to the dam?

    Ranchette

is it possible on low water to put a boat in at ranchette and motor down to buffalo shoals without much trouble. I like to wade fish the shoal but coming from fayetteville it would be quicker to put in at ranchette as opposed to driving to buffalo city. I dont actually want to take my boat into the shoal, thats a good way to beat the crap out of it. I just want to park it above the shoal, hop out and wade the shoals. I just didnt know if there were any real shallow places between ranchette and the top end of buffalo shoals that need to be avoided. My boat is still new so i dont want to beat it up too much. Thanks
  11. they will fish the full tournament friday-monday. cut to the top 50 sunday, top 12 fish monday. looks rough over there right now, i say they made the right call to cancel today and start tomorrow
  12. i saw those new spro colors at hook line sunday, they look great. Aaron and Nick are super guys to deal with. Aaron told me they are in the process of becoming a skeeter dealer and they had 2 boats out front on sunday (i believe they are nick and aarons demo boats but dont quote me on that). Cabelas gets none of my money, it all goes to hook line
  13. you can safely get just a few miles up from blue springs in a bass boat, maybe 2 miles or so.. anything other than that is too big a risk. Only in the highest water we have had can you actually get to twin bridges. No way you could get near twin bridges in a bass boat right now
  14. Just curious what kind of John boat did you order? I bought a topwater to trout fish in back in November and it's a blast. Thought about taking it out for white bass when it warms up a little
  15. That's a great day bill. How long was the pause on the stick bait? I have a hard time letting it sit past a 10 count. I spoke to mike mclelland a while back and he said he pops it pretty quick on beaver even in that real cold water.
  16. there is technically no trophy area on beaver anymore. they have changed it to an "artificial bait zone" where you have to use single hook artificials but you are allowed to keep 2 trout. the new rule in all of beaver tailwaters is if you bait fish YOU MUST use barbless hooks, yes thats right you have to use barbless hooks for bait fishing. I dont really see how the game and fish thought this would help because when a fish swallows a hook with powerbait, it doesnt matter if its barbless or not if someone tries to pull it out that fish wont live.... but I dont make the rules so it is what it is
  17. the guy at ACTLURES.COM pours 1/4 ounce round ball jigheads for me at least once a year and I order in bulk. I like to swim grubs around deep trees and just need a basic head with a quality hook and no weedguard. His prices are very reasonable and he uses really quality hooks. He does real quality work and is a stand up guy. Send him a mesage and tell him what you want and he will get right back with you, guarantee he will be cheaper than bass pro or cabelas. You can also find him on the BBC Boards as well.
  18. I would like to know if that ramp at beavertown is open myself. I was thinking of taking my jon boat up there and trout fishing. I checked Houseman access ramp and its not useable, the ramp ends about 3 feet before the water starts and there is a large drop off out in the water. Little off topic since we are talking about beaver lake but if anyone knows if that beavertown ramp is useable for sure I would appreciate it.
  19. thats a great fish. I know right where that spot is, fished that spot in the rain on sunday for a few hours. There are some nice fish in there and some really solid bows right along side the browns. Important thing to remember is fish for them and catch them all you want but please be careful and put them back so they can do thier thing and make babies (I am in no way saying you didnt take care of that nice brown or anything along those lines). I feel somewhat bad for those fish in beaver, there is so much pressure on that tailwater and when spawning time comes they have no place to get away from anglers in the skinny water. Its not like bull shoals where there is alot of water away from access points. Almost the entire length of beaver is one big access point. But have a blast with them then put them back. I saw a guy in that exact spot a few weeks back with about a 3 pound brown on his stringer, its his right to keep it and he was within the law but it broke my heart because we need those fish and they are rare in that tailwater.
  20. there were definatly people working on it back in April and May. I was on the lake and drove by it on saturday and it looks the same as it did back in spring... and there are no fish in those pockets in the spring.. that is one area of the lake that is void of any fish life, nothing to see in there
  21. there is not a "catch and release" section on beaver. It has changed to the "artificial bait zone" and i believe you can keep 2 fish out of it now per person. The "catch and release" zone was removed a few years ago due to too many fish and no growth to the fish, hoping people would keep some of the smaller ones and the larger ones would be in the slot and would be let go and able to grow larger
  22. i fished the brushcana last year and actually will be back there this coming monday on my 2 week fishing trip to AK. It was my favorite stream i fished last year and its got an insane amount of grayling in it. From what i gather from my guide buddies up there, the creek does not have trout in it... just grayling but a heck of a fun place to fish
  23. i night fish it now and then, mainly in the fall and winter. One thing to remember is the average size fish is smaller than Taneycomo.. you cant really even compare the fishing in the 2 places because Taney is a much better fishery. However Beaver has its fair share of nice fish. Go into the artificial bait zone (was known as catch and release zone until a few years back) and fish the first shoal and the deeper holes below that with a wooly bugger.. i wouldnt go any larger than maybe a size 6. also the smaller sculpzilla (you can get them at mclellans in fayetteville) is a good one to try as well. If you swing a wooly bugger, you should catch some fish
  24. if your water temp guage said 60, it might be broken. yesterday it was 65-67 all over that lake.
  25. was at prarie creek yesterday afternoon/evening. color was normal and the lake really hadnt come up much then. Its come up around 2-2 1/2 feet total so far.. Probably will come up another foot or 2. i doubt the mud makes it all the way down to prarie creek but I have been wrong before. If they dont have to open the flood gates, that will help keep that mud up the lake too. Those flood gates pull alot of current and with those shut that mudline moves much slower.
