  1. Are you still messing with that voice text? LOL
  2. I went with Horton for Accudraw. Have joined crossbownation.com, information over load, learning quickly. Planning on my next arrows from Southshore Archery, considering BEEs ? but will study more. Thanks for the intell g
  3. Thanks Duane, there is a Horton RDX sitting here on the table now. Although too much money at $500 off I felt it was a good value. Took it next door to the store and they set it up for me. Under Billethead's guidance I have ordered some Swacker broadheads. I bought the tenpoint carbon arrows. I am sure I will destroy some fletching. Trying to decide which fletching jig, I am accustom to left wing helical feathers, do not think that will cut it. old dog having to learn new tricks.
  4. My Goodness, beautiful.
  5. Thanks for the helps, I am started sure that I have many lessons to learn.
  6. That is true.
  7. My first step will be Turkey season...I too worry about cwd. I do have the opportunity to get a Horton listed above from a smaller outfit for $750 or the 10 pt. for 1200 with the accudraw. Hope the reverse limbs work ok, I am usually scared of new things.
  8. As a long time longbow shooter, who has opposed crossbows for years, once again in life I am forced to eat my words. Due to recent events I will be unable to shoot my shotgun for spring turkey season, and pulling my longbow.....hopefully at some point in the future. So.... started looking at Crossbows and asking questions.... the price range is unbelievable. One guy says this is what I want: http://www.basspro.com/TenPoint-Carbon-Nitro-RDX-Crossbow-Package-with-AcuDraw/product/2299615/ I read on a forum that this has the same specs only difference is a carbon rail and a place to store the crank: http://www.basspro.com/Horton-Storm-RDX-Crossbow-Package-with-ACUdraw/product/1503121741/ both are terrible expensive, but I need some easy cocking device......but quality often costs. Both bows are made by Ten point who I understand now owns Horton.Maybe I just need to take up flea market shopping or ???? Appreciate ideas thoughts. g
  9. Well John I think that Webster will be forced to add another line to the definition of Bait Fisherman.....I know I have...LOL, It is a Pleasure to know a guy who is so well informed on such maters Thanks for your wisdom and knowledge.
  10. Well not to be picky but he did say he was starting near Durango then Gunnison, thus he will be going through Ridgeway.... will not be out of the way, he will likely need a place to stop and change his pants after his trip over Red Mountain Pass pulling his camper......a little fishing and a Bob drink might help settle his nerves. g
  11. Thanks for posting, I shared with my son who is stuck in Chicago for now he is always looking for a place to bend his rods and use his tent. He googled and said about 2 hrs from him he hopes to go down there. g

    What's Cooking?

While that looks wonderful, my wife will not let me at our crappie or walleye reserves...for soup. would a white bass, Drum, catfish or spot do?
  13. Seth, you open a new door with dock shooting. The BPS micolite has also been my rod of choice for that task until recently I acquired a B&M Sharpshooter which is a tad better for me. The microlite has served well when I have folks come without suitable equipment, they have withstood some MAJOR abuse. Per your statement my 6'6" airstream gets a tryout on the 32d. For dipping/jig poling I use the Sam Heaton super sensitive 9' just because it fits better in my boat. I am using power pro or Nano 8 with a pline cxx leader. All of these rods can be purchased for under $50 on sale, and you add the Pfluger President 6925 you have rigs for under $100 Good Suggestions
  14. Everything Brad said here is true and I agree with 100 percent. When I was rod shopping, he gave me the very same advice several years ago. The ONLY thing I would add, as I too was hung up on spending that much on a crappie rod is the advice of Jason King...."how much did you pay for a deer rifle that you only shoot once or twice a year...? How many days will you use and enjoy a good crappie rod...?" I have several of the aforementioned rods.
  15. True, I take mine down with a grinder then finish with file, just be careful.
  16. This is my guide.... https://fishwithjd.com/2010/05/19/5-tips-to-help-improve-your-outboard-jets-performance/ you have the hard part (disassembly) done or:
  17. Mine is a 2015....
  18. What he said, while the spot lock is not perfect it is a wonderful tool will be nice when more perfected. Think the Ulltrex will bring the best of both worlds. I am slow to get comfortable with the foot pedal on my Terrova Remote is handy. Do not see myself ever being without the spot lock, but stressful in tight dock situations like at LOZ or trees on twain or Truman, slight delay in reaction, more my problem than the unit.
  19. it used to be 25 yrs ago, I quit because Ozark dumps less treated sewage in the winter and Nixa is not much better, it was a neat stream until they turned it into a sewer drainage. Sad Really sad.

  22. I have 2 brand new ones on the shelf waiting for when I need motor work...... money in the bank...
  23. Fortunately you have friends who are hoarders and will keep it until you need it......
  24. Chief is correct, having been in the business 39 years some things are surprising. Read the book Railroaded by Richard White, then you will know why we use the phrase "I have been Railroaded" Ever wondered why the rail line from Willow Springs to Cape did not go through Van Buren? but did Mountain View and Ellisnore? It was a scam for a few folks to profit.
