Had 12 family and their friends to the house tonight. We opted for a "Make Your Own Pizza Night."

    What's Cooking?

If you have orzo or cous cous mix some of your pesto into it and serve as the base for boiled or broiled shrimp or as a side for baked smallmouth. 😉
  5. Trust me. This is the real deal.

    What's Cooking?

Last night the wife and I decided that it had been far too long since we made pizza. We used lots of basil from the deck garden, some prosciutto we picked up at Sams last week, seasoned tomatoes, and four cheeses.
  7. The recipe is on my food blog, Living Well in the Ozarks.

    What's Cooking?

    Last night, the 24th:
  10. Holiday Island is the same. Look, the way I see it, the myriad of aging problems can be put in perspective. I may hurt more than I used to hurt, I may be slower, my balance may not be what it was, and peeing is of major concern, but I am still vertical, I still love my job, I still fish, and no one purees my food.
  11. Yes, but not tonight. I vacuum sealed the fillets and put them in the freezer with a bit of other walleye. Both daughters, a sister, a niece and their s.o. arrive Friday for the Holiday weekend. I plan to combine the walleye with ahi tuna and shrimp and make fish burgers with a spicy fruit salsa.
  12. I have written two articles for this forum about fishing Ozark lakes for walleye. Although I targeted Table Rock, these apply to Stockton as well. I hope these help him. http://www.ozarkanglers.com/table-rock/trolling-for-walleye/ http://www.ozarkanglers.com/white-river-walleye-on-worm-harness/
  13. I took crawlers out with me but did not use them. They went back into my worm storage box.
  14. I went out at 5:30 this morning hoping for a top water bite. In the first 90 minutes I caught two and neither were keepers. I switched to Ned fishing and promptly caught this: I put the flathead back. I went on to catch four bass with one a near keeper. Then I began trolling for walleye. Based on information I was given, I started trolling a wiggle wart 25 feet down. In an hour I caught one small bass. However I had noticed many suspended bait balls 10 to 15 feet deep. I also saw fish suspended just below the bait if there was timber present. I put on a Storm Smash Shad 6 in pearl and went looking for timber that topped out 10 to 15 feet down. I wound up at a community hole near Holiday Island. I let out 170 feet of PowerPro 10/2 braid to put the bait 15 feet down and trolled over the trees at 2 mph. I landed several bass and this 23 inch walleye. I call that a fun morning. This post has been promoted to an article

    What's Cooking?

The grocery semi spoiled a Greek fest at our house. Someone had come in and purchased all the pita bread. We made do with hamburger buns for our lamb burgers. I put together a tzatziki and a very Greek salad to go with the lamb.
  19. When I read the original post, I momentarily thought to myself that those were not the right words to use. Later I realized he must be tweeking you. Everyone on here knows you fish frequently, you have fished tournaments successfully, and that your posts of your trips are filled with information. I suggest he was just trying to pick out the funniest example he could?

    What's Cooking?

Felt the need to go Tex Mex. Refried black beans and beef soft tacos (baby burritos) and guacamole.
  21. Use a black magic marker and mark your line at the reel when the bait is at the tip. Let line out until the mark is at the tip and mark again at the reel. And so on and so on until you have 10 marks. Then as you let the bait down to the fish, count the marks. Assuming you know the length of your rod and can multiply small numbers in your head (which I am sure you can) you have a system to know how deep your rig is even when your sonar won't tell you.
  22. Use a coffee filter to filter your oil. Store it in a refrigerator or as cool a dark place as you can create. Smell it before you use it, If it has gone rancid your nose will tell you so.
  23. All of you are reacting just as I did. I was pleased to see a sweet boat still in service. I cringed at what had been done to it. And I wondered - why did it have a transom mount trolling motor laying on the front deck with the chips and lots of rope?
  24. Saw this tied up at the marina today.
