  1. I was able to get out around 9:00 this morning. I did not expect much because today was a post front day with an East wind. The surface at Holiday Island was 78-79. I fished above Beaver town where the water had dropped to 77. I caught three on a night crawler on a harness in water 14 to 19 feet deep. Two keepers, 19 and 21 inches. By 1:00 PM the ski boats were clear above Beaver so I came in.
  2. Live bait rules in Canada can sometimes get in the way. These slugs will work well on the four slow death rigs I sent.
  3. Vertical Technique: Gentle snap lift (no double snap like with a spoon as that shakes the live bait off) the track the bait back down in free fall. Horizontal Technique: Basically the same but let the jig fall on a tight line, then reel in slack.
  4. I received a package in the mail today from Danger Close. Four of his wild hair jigs and 9 or 10 of his bluegill slugs. The plastic is very soft and alive and is going into an attractant to permeate. The jigs are perfect for the slug or other finesse trailer. Thanks DC!
  5. I see that the DO is higher below the thermocline. That makes it very tough as there is no artificial floor to how deep they may be.

Bill has a way with words, doesn't he? Duck, good on you. I could not buy a bite on my last outing.
  8. Thank you kjackson! I love learning new things.
  9. Thanks QB.

Allow me to educate you. I wrote this for Phil to post for people who were not familiar with the ways of walleye fishermen. http://www.ozarkanglers.com/white-river-walleye-on-worm-harness/ Tanderson -> Way to go!
  11. DC: Do you pour that slug with regular plastic or the Zman style ElaZtech? If regular, do you salt it? Do you pour with a soft or firm plastic? My reason for asking? That length and style slug would be perfect for two different types of walleye fishing if it is soft and capable of being soaked in a scent. A gentleman named Zane from Berryville, Arkansas (tiller steer Xpress with 50HP Merc) fishes a very soft handpour that length on a Lindy rig (that is a light C rig for you bass types). He catches walleye and many bass. The other use would be to thread it on a slow death hook or a harness rigged with a slow death. The notion that one pour can be used for three different and effective methods on two species pleases me.

Thanks Champ. Don't know what it was, but I'm thinking an early bed time might help.

I did not feel 100% this morning so I stuck closer to the marina than my original plan. I jigged deep trees and one set of docks, all above Devils Dive (Fletchers old place). I had one very good fish on but it pulled off. That was it. Next trip, if I feel better, I am headed to deeper waters.

I read about those. I would imagine they will work. I just do not own the rod to throw them. Or an A-rig. Or a 10 inch long three piece swim bait. Some things are for young men.

The old original Silver Buddy with the back hook removed and a change out of the front hook. I also added a snap. We used to vertically jig these for white bass and stripers in Lake Texoma and Keystone. They also make a decent rip bait.
  16. After a tough trip out on Thursday, I did some forum reading. Today, an errand required me to go to the "big city/metroplex." Since I was there anyway, I stopped at Cabelas and at Hook, Line, and Sinker. (Try to name two other stops in one geographical area that surpass that duo!) See if you can guess what I am doing early tomorrow morning: Yes, I know I just bought them and immediately modified them. It's how I roll.
  17. I have owned both. Presently I have a 2010 MK Terrova that I later upgraded to I-Pilot. It performs exactly how it should. I do wish the recovery design were a bit easier.
  18. Thank you Bill, and thank Beck. The information you posted will help.
  19. As I posted about yesterday. I obviously have no clue.
  20. 42 feet, huh? No wonder I stunk up the place yesterday. I was fishing too shallow at 30 to 32 feet. Of course the channel isn't even 42 feet until nearly Eagle Rock, 6 river miles from me.
  21. If you are buying new and can afford them, Lund makes great boats that hold resale value. Holiday Island Fire and Rescue has a War Eagle boat. It appears to be built like a tank. I have owned Lowe, Xpress, and presently own an Alumacraft. Of those three boats, the Alumacraft is the best made.
  22. I want to add in here. I just do not know how to say it better than those before me.
  23. OMG, thank you for this post. And yes, big c, I left the dark side to teach children

    Wings Anyone?

I know exactly what you are saying. I love skirt steak and tri tip. Once upon a time they were cheaper than hamburger. Not any more.
