    Opening Day

The wife and I traveled to Cassville today from Holiday Island. In honor of the day we went up the long way and did not travel through Roaring River. Coming home we came through the park. At 1:00 pm, the hotels on the Cassvile side of the park still had tourists. Tim's still had two cars, and the cleaning station had people waiting for their turn to clean fish. I hope all had a good time.
  2. OK. If we are going to be serious I will contribute what I know. Sorry I only have a second hand report. The owner of the floating ice house reports fair to good luck on minnow tipped jigs between HI and Houseman. He has been fishing the upper end of "holes" using a very slow drag of the bait.
  3. There are no walleye in the White River until you go below Big M. And the license to fish for them is way too expensive. Best save your time and money and fish somewhere else.
  4. There are three or four river run locations. White River below Tanneycomo, North Fork White River above Norfolk Lake, White River below Beaver Lake, and Kings River above where it enters Table Rock. The first two are most accessible to you, but I have never fished either. From what I have read and heard, both should be on the cusp of turning on. Hopr that helps.
  5. How many specimens of each "model" have you scanned? I do not mean to denigrate your work, but everyone must realize the early warts were the product of imperfect industry and were barely "interchangeable" parts. That is the reason they varied so and that is the reason some of them (the ones NOT chucked on the bank in frustration) caught fish. That is also the reason Normark changed the production process. Almost all of their new products will run true and catch some fish. But the process lost the search for the "one."
  6. Just a thought...I have always done the best when the bait was crashing into the bottom or cover. The crazed take off from the collision seems to be the trigger. Pauses and starts as well. Under those circumstances, the difference diminishes. The erratic wander is more important trolling for walleyes.
  7. brosborough: Welcome to the board! You are in luck. A very good guy, "Fin and Feathers," shares his knowledge of Beaver in explicit detail. Your first step: search the archived posts for him and check the posts from the time frame you are considering., Your second step: PM Scott (his name) with a request he share basic information for the time frame you must choose. He will give you more than basic. Third step: put every word in the bank.
  8. One of my favorite holes - Rough Hole - is right at Ranchette.
  9. I was teaching today, too. Bill schooled us on early season fishing. I was teaching reluctant 12 to 14 year olds about research and thinking.
  10. Very well done. I know it is all in my head, but I have always believed cold water crappie and walleye taste better than summer time catches.
  11. Very good basic recipe.
  12. Never mind.
  13. For you upper end types, the three finger points between Panther and Owl Creeks, although those are more gravel than chunk. For chunk with timber, try the long J hook point at the mouth of Rock Creek.

    Skunkworks

I admire your work. Really good stuff. I am almost entirely a soft plastics type, but I thought you should know I think your products are awesome.
  15. In this case the 70 refers to feet and inches.
  16. A couple of years ago, while I was recovering from surgery, Hoglaw finished a rod for me made from a St. Croix Scii 70 inch blank with a medium power and a moderate flex. Best wart rod ever!
  17. If you were closer and if we needed you, Nancy and I would have you make an example for others.
  18. Champ: You and Donna can catch keepers on any lake. Seems to me it is time for you to school the Rogers/Springdale/Bentonville folk.
  19. Yes I do, and I am very glad you are on here. For those of you who sometimes fish the upper end, tv tom fishes the Holiday Island to Big M stretch and catches many fish. Pay attention to what he writes.
  20. Brown older Ranger?

Jack Mitchell had some decent Kansas teams. Then nothing until the round man. Then ...
  22. Congress, not the White House, determines the amount to be spent, and when all amounts must first past muster with some "cut the funds" politico, the funds are not spent. Really people, wake up. You have empowered idiots.
  23. Well done Scott!
  24. They are an excellent trolled walleye bait for the times I need to hit 25 to 30 feet deep.
  25. Our numerically small school district is a snow nightmare poster child in many respects. Large geographic area (Trigger Gap on the Kings River to Busch Mountain; Mo. border to almost 412 Highway. Winding old roads with no shoulders. For example, on my way to school I cross a one lane bridge. On my way to Rogers, I cross a different one lane bridge. Rock House road winds south of town for many miles into the Kings River watershed. Most of it stays shaded year round. And like every school superintendent, ours has this motto, "No bus wrecks on my watch." I actually think we will lose Thursday and Friday as school days as well. If we do then we have a plan in place to make up four and our last day would move to June 10th, assuming we lose no more days. Makes for a short summer.
