The pbj wart, I assume yours, worked for me today. The bill on the Rockcrawler I was using broke. They don't like it when you grind them.Warts don't mind, but they run 1 to 2 feet shallower.

2 to 3 feet, except where the wind crashed waves.

By 9:00 AM the temperature was over 50, so I went out and fished four hours before the wind and threatening clouds ran me off the lake. I pulled two rods from the box, my crank rod and my Ned rod. On the crank rod I fished a pbj wart. On the Ned rod I fished a pbj as well. I caught 8 fish of which 4 would have been keepers. 5 came on the crank and the Ned accounted for the rest, including the largest fish - near 3 pounds. The 5th fish picture was short, but it had such beautiful markings I took the picture anyway, In the cove just down stream from Fletcher's I saw two odd things. First I watched two red squirrels play tag on the bank. Second I came across a bass of about 4 pounds suspended about a foot below the surface. It was acting odd so I approached it. The fish eyes and places on the back appeared to be covered with brown fungus.

The emoticons do not fit this situation. Thank you Ness.

As an explanation for online behavior the last few days, Nancy lost her mother on Monday. She flew out for the memorial in New Hampshire today. I will join her on Wednesday and we will be back Friday. Her mother was 95. I wish Nancy and I go more gently than she did - no years of being lost and confused. Sorry, that's too much for a food thread. Thank you for caring.

You know, I know, others know, but sometimes what you must do requires you to make compromises. In the case I needed to take the beautiful wife to the airport an hour away. Keeping her happy is worth all sorts of accommodations.

Because of obligations I kept a strip steak at 130 for five hours in a sous vide. When i seared it I wound up with a medium rare close to medium, but juicy. The potato also went in the bath and then was finished in the high heat oven.

I ran an Etec 75 for six years, and the current 90 is three years old. Great hole shot, low gas consumption, and the service every 300 hours is a great deal that obliterates the cost of oil consumption and the service cost of every season with a four stroke. Ask fishinwrench what he thinks.

Need Fishing Seat Upgrade. Millenium?
rps replied to JCreek's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I have seen boats on the White River below Bull Shoals with a brace for standing safely while flailing with their fly rods. You might want to find one or fabricate one. When it is time to replace the trolling motor, I heartily endorse the fob control models. -
I haven't posted much this last week. It has been a Blue Apron week, and I will not take credit for their dishes. I fixed burgers last night and will take the wife to the airport this afternoon. That means I am less likely to do anything fancy. Wednesday I fly to join her, and we will return late Friday. All of you (uawll) keep posting. I enjoy the reading.

Rockcrawler in PBJ

I fished for about three hours early on Saturday, 3/17. Water temp was 48 - 49 degrees. Air temp was almost the same with a NW wind. Caught three cranking. One was a near keep, another a squeaker keeper, and the last about 2.5 pounds. I had underdressed and finally came in when I grew tired of the cold. Quite a few boats were out, but all were fishermen rather than pleasure boaters.

Red enchilada casserole with guac. Not nearly as appealing as the Guinness stew, but still appealing.

As I reported last week, I checked to make sure the motor and batteries would be up to my first fishing trip this Spring, the OA Big Bass Challenge. What I failed to check was the battery in my trolling motor remote. At my first spot, I couldn't deploy the motor. I went back to my slip, drove to the Holiday Island hardware store and bought two so I would have a spare next time. As a result, I really wasn't "on the water" until nearly 8:30. I tried a crankbait and a slow rolled twin spin. No joy. I finally found a bite in 9 to 15 feet of water using a pbj Ned. I landed 15 bass, a mix of spots and largemouth. Not a single one was a legal keeper. No trophy again this year. Others competing found a crankbait bite. The top four fished weighed 4/15, 3/6, 3/3, and 2/15. Jeff and Robert (Quillback and Muddywater) had the site set up and much good food was shared. Thanks guys! QB took pictures and will post a formal report with names and pictures.

I have buried both parents - cancer and dementia. I have buried a sister. I have buried my law partner - stroke and stroke. I helped my wife bury her father and her mother is in a hospice. Please believe I know what you are going through. I wish upon your wife ease. I wish upon you peace and resolution. I wish upon the rest of your family comfort and understanding.

You can microwave bacon and use it for sandwiches and breakfast. There are more than a few ways to do eggs in a microwave. A quick search of microwave cooking turned up a number of good posts. Have fun.

I cheated on this one. The meatballs were store bought, but very good. My recipe would have bread, milk, garlic, crushed red pepper, herbs, and a beef/pork blend.

I am so looking forward to this event. What I bring will not feed 30, but not everyone will want slaw - especially spicy, not sweet slaw. That is part of what I like about pot lucks. You taste everything and then go back to what you like. I was out in the boat yesterday (no fishing, just making sure the motor would start and all) I found temps from 52 to 59 in the Upper End. That tells me we will have many different potential "bites." Jig, Ned, jerk bait, spinner bait, crank, and even some form of plastic (grub?) are all possible. I am so out of mu comfort zone and league.
