  1. In preparation for the new TM and sonar install, I removed rods, tackle, and other items from the boat. This afternoon, I went through all the plano boxes, reorganized, removed items I had not used since the last reorganization three years ago, and repaired the baits I had put off repairing. I have also upgraded a few rods and reels. Present count on rods/reels is eight. A spinning Ned rig rod for guests, a casting Ned rig rod for me, a heavy jig rod that I also use for the one large swim bait I carry and the large size whopper plopper, a topwater rod, a crankbait rod, a finesse jig and worm rod, a medium heavy rod for normal worming and spinner baits, and a trolling rod. All are hand made. I have a backup trolling rod and a lead core rod in the garage if needed. I now have 15 Plano boxes of baits for the boat. I will add one more. Highlights: 4 boxes of topwater baits - walkers, wakers, poppers, and large walkers and ploppers. 4 boxes of trolling baits sorted by depth and style. 3 boxes of warts and crawlers, a box of vertical spoons, a box of grubs, a box of craws/creatures, a box of lead and hooks to fish these. I will add a new box for the finesse worms. The Ned stuff is in a canvas folder bag. I also have a modest spinner bait box that makes 17. To reach the point above, I culled about a box and a half worth. How does this compare to your setup?
  2. I have not publicly discussed Owl Creek, Roaring River, Stubblefield Branch, Jolmes, Devils Dive, the power lines, Haddock Creek, the Holiday Island cove, or the graveyard. Those are not really community holes, and anyone who discovers their secrets should keep them to himself.
  3. Unlike you, I don't know much of the lake. Only Emerald beach and up river. I have publicly shared three spots, now. The bone, the flooded timber across from HI, and the flat at Eagle Rock. All three are community holes.
  4. The Backbone has many hot weather patterns for both walleye and bass. First, it is a very large J. From the point that it starts, head to the sycamores just left of the boat houses on the far shore. Then it begins to turn left and it extends well left until almost kissing the far left bluff before it falls into the channel. Check the fall off into the channel. Check the side of the bone to the lake side, not far from where it starts. Check the tree tops on the Rock Creek side on the out side bend. Check the hump of the turn on the tree edge. The bass and walleye tend to do one of two things this time of year. They suspend in tree tops on the edges or hover near the bottom just shallow of those edges. The Emerald Beach flats and points just down stream of there are worth a look, Quillback fishes Panther and Owl Creek near there, PM him for that info. Good luck.

    What's Cooking?

Friday night is pizza night! Ham, tomato, and cheese.
  6. Hey wrench, my joshing poked the bear?
  7. I hate them, and I have become convinced that "Me first, and only me first" people buy them. Fortunately, my new lake has several coves and corners where you can get away from them.
  8. You are such a happy, go lucky bundle of sunshine wrench 😁
  9. After waiting for Lowrance to finally distribute their long shaft Ghost, I gave up. I read the threads about the Garmin, and have ordered the long shaft Force with a Echomap 93sv UHD on the bow and console. I will not have 360 like Babler and Bobby B, but I am on a budget. Installation should start Monday. I am looking forward to a serious Lake Skiatook discovery.
  10. My 16 foot Rebel XS (2015) is the same - no back deck. I have the passenger seat out so a guest can stand in the well.

    What's Cooking?

I never eat chicken that color. That is tenderloin at 139 degrees and then seared. Now you can speculate as to tenderloin of what.

    What's Cooking?

    I love summer tomatoes.
  19. True that. On the other hand, all my hook in the hands/fingers/arms/ life vest incidents have been bass or white bass inspired,
  20. Beautiful! Hook in the finger? Tell me about it. Boga grips, lockable hemostats, pliers are mandatory. The lipping BS of the videos is, in fact, BS.
  21. If I were in the market? Aluminum? Buy a Vexus. Glass? Find a used Bass Cat. I suggest Evinrude for either.
