  1. Fished from 7:15 to about noon today out of Cape Fair. fished down lake to outside of Piney. Caught 9 with 4 keepers, nothing big. Was in the mouth of the cove just north of Wooly and fish started busting all around us. I caught 5 pretty quick with 2 keepers. Was using a Berkeley Popper topwater. Caught a couple on a pee wee football jig with a zoom speed craw. Caught the chunkie one on a 3/8 spinner bait. Wind picked up a bit late morning and caught it off the main lake steep bank across from Piney Creek. Otherwise, was not real great today, but had fun on the topwater action while it lasted.
  2. Hope you had a great birthday, Quillback! Good luck on the water!
  3. Brennan, it's actually Nichols Lure Co.-I assume that is the craw you are talking about. Go to Venom Lure Company to get them.
  4. A few months ago I ordered the Nicholas Craws from Venom Lure Company. I looked at the Nicholas web site and they didn't have the craws available so I called them and they said Venom Lures took over this product line from Nicholas. Sounds like there was some connection with Venom and Nicholas previously. They are the same craws that Nicholas had and I like them on a 5/8- 3/4 oz. football jig. They call them "Dream Craws". They are 4.25 inches. I like the green pumpkin copper glitter. Hope this helps.
  5. Nicely done! Congrats on a solid day!
  6. Thank you so much for sharing that summary of your time with Sprague and Tak. That had to be an awesome time, although I know you guys work your tail off! Tak seems like he would be a blast to spend a day with.
  7. This is very sad news and will keep Bo's family in my prayers. Never met Bo, buy always enjoyed the shared knowledge about fishing table rock. Gone too soon and pray he's dropping a line in heaven!
  8. Well keep Bo and his family in my prayers.
  9. The Breakfast Club. Good one! I have to admit, I had to google that line! It's not that I'm too young, I just never watched that movie.
  10. Haha! I didn't want to start no ruckus on here! 😂
  11. I'm actually not Phillip-I understand that's confusing. I'm from another Stone clan! I wish I could fish Like Phil though!
  12. Had a decent day with about 25 total between 3 of us; 4 keepers. My son had a nice 3 lb 10 oz. largemouth for the big of the day. All fish caught on swimbait, mostly Keitech 2.8 and 3.3. I tried peewee football jig; senko on shakey head with no takers. All fish caught on or near points and inside pockets. Most in about 10-15 feet. Put in about 10:30 AM and off the water about 4:00. The bigger fish were full of eggs and all fish were released. I had a nice goggle eye on that came off at the boat-looked like a 13 incher! Went all the way back in Cow Creek and my son caught the 3 lber off a steep back in about 15 feet. Fished the secondary points and inside the pockets up and down Cow. Weather was awesome; nice cloud cover most of day and a nice breeze off and on. Water was still pretty clear for the most part. Did run into the moss different places, mostly up shallow.
  13. Merry Christmas and safe and Happy New year to everyone! Good fishin for all!
  14. Happy Thanksgiving to all and appreciate all the information given on this forum. I am greatful for many things despite all the challenges we have had this year.
  15. I talked to the guy at K Dock Marina this morning and he said it's a mess down there-flooding and water is "muddy, chocolate', debris and current pretty bad. We were going to take our Dad out in their fishing pontoon tomorrow at k dock, but decided to postpone due to the lake condition. He said lake has come up 4 feet in 2 days and they have had 7.5 inches of rain in last few days.
  16. Joe Bald is free-I put in there a few weeks ago. Not the best ramp as it's pretty flat and you have to get in the water quite a ways- you will get wet, unless you are able to crawl out of your truck to the back and in the boat without touching the ground! The good think it certainly isn't crowded.
  17. Has anyone launched at K-dock or know anyone who has in last few days? Thinking about putting in there tomorrow, or go to Tucker Hollow. Would rather put in at K dock, which is closer for me. thanks for any info.
  18. Thanks for the great report! Good luck to you in your new job and congrats on the marriage!
  19. Bobby and others, thanks for the updates. I ordered the Garmin 106SV ultra units for bow and console; panoptics livescope and the Force trolling motor. All are in except for the Force. My guy who ordered and doing the installation called me today and said Garmin informed him there will be a delay in shipment to the end of July. They have discovered an issue with the "key" or fitting connected to the compass in the head of the unit. If the motor has impact with something, it could cause the key to pop out of place and affect the anchor lock ability to control the motor. They said it is a very small percentage of cases they know about and don't plan on a recall, but will offer full refunds, etc. if you have this occur. They are putting in a more robust bracket for the key apparently. This has happened only when the TM is in Anchor lock. Just wanted to share that with you all. Bummer that my set-up is delayed now, but glad they discovered the issue.
  20. Bill, thanks for the information on your Garmin set-up. Sounds awesome! I went ahead and ordered the Garmin gear from the guy doing my installation: Force TM; (2) of the Echomap Ultra 106SV's for bow and console; and the livescope transducer/box. I also decided to get a custom shaft to mount the Livescope transducer to. I ordered one from an outfit near St. Louis-All aboard Marine. They make custom shafts for Force; Minnkota and Lowrance TM's also. The shaft attaches to the Force TM and doesn't move when the TM is moving and comes with a handle to adjust the position. Also, didn't need to get the Perspective mount, as their hardware allows movement of the Transducer to the perspective mode as well as forward view and down view. He charges $385, which includes shipping. A guy I work with got this set-up a couple of months ago and he said it works well. He has the Minnkota TM. I plan to retire end of next year, which will allow more time on the water and makes this investment easier!
  21. Bill, I was also interested in how you mounted the Livescope transducer-on the trolling motor shaft, or separate custom shaft that could attach to the TM. I'm looking into investing in Garmin units and the Force TM. Thanks for all the information you always generously share!
  22. Thanks for the information, Bobby/Hughesy!
  23. I'm considering Garmin including Force TM and Livescope and was curious if those who have one have the transducer mounted on the trolling motor or on separate bracket/pole. I would think if you are running the livescope and have the trolling motor on spot lock, the constant movement would mess up the livescope picture? Appreciate any input. Thanks.
  24. Thanks, Bill. He popped it hard once, then came back and nailed it again and I had him hooked good. I was disappointed we didn't do better on the topwater. thought it was an ideal day for it. Was thankful to catch the others on the swimmer though. Take care and be safe this weekend. Weather could be a bit rough at times.
  25. Tried to add this picture of a nice 18 inch smallmouth my friend caught on swimbait in Cow Creek.
