  1. Drive north towards Leadville a bit. You can fish in the town of Granite as well as Hayden Meadows.
  2. Heck, there were guys catching catfish on chatter baits and jighead minnows last week at REDCREST....
  3. they would have fished like Ott did.
  4. So don't watch it....simple as that.
  5. Anything for you and Mrs. Billethead!
  6. I guided in the park for about 10 years.
  7. RMNP is awesome. Looks like you had a great trip. Are you sure you made it all the way to Sky Pond? Sky Pond is the second lake after you climb the waterfall. Your photo looks like the Lake of Glass, commonly mistaken for Sky Pond. It's one of my favorite places in the park. Here is Sky Pond:
  8. That is just a genetic variation between Rainbow trout.
  9. Mark Gray is in the center. Tim Young is on the left. Not sure who the other gentleman is
  10. The pattern in the photos is a Clouser Crayfish Nice job!
  11. Runoff sediment from the fire has devastated the river for most of it's length. There are still fish to be caught, but the numbers took a huge hit. It will be a while before that river comes back into its own. You're better off driving down to the Big Thompson.
  12. I am honored to be included in the book. Thank you Sandy! I wish Rick and I could have fished together one last time.
  13. This is one of the few dry fly eats I captured on camera on my most recent trip to River Haven Lodge in New Zealand. My guide Doug was essential for me in spotting this fish.
  14. This is a staple in my fly box year-round, especially when fishing freestone streams. It was designed by my good friend and Fly Fishing Team USA Teammate, Mike Sexton. Give this fly a try. Materials: Hook: Umpqua C450 or Hanak 450BL Bead: Copper Slotted Tungsten Tail: Coq De Leon Rib: Glo Brite Floss #5 Abdomen: Natural Hare's Ear Dubbing Thorax: Black Peacock Ice Dub
  15. I learned to tie this fly from my good friend Antonio Rodrigues. Antonio is a very talented, former competitive angler from Portugal. This CDC dry fly is very simple to tie. You can change the color of the quill and the size of the hook to represent just about any mayfly or midge! The Orange Fluoro Fibre adds a bright spot to make the fly easy to see on the water.
  16. Besides midges, BWO's are usually one of the first hatches of the spring. This is a really simple CDC BWO that I have used for years and is very productive for me. If you don't have hends body quills, any olive 8/0 thread will work as a substitute! Enjoy.
  17. This is one of my favorite flies for fishing lakes!
  18. This is one of my most successful flies anywhere there are Green Drakes. Give this fly a try!
  19. They are a bucket list fish for me too.....Even though I landed this one.......I've got 2 more chances this year....March and April. Hopefully I'll have a few more photos for you.
  20. I told you that in the shop when you came in to suprise me! 🤣
  21. You're off to a great start, guys! It was such a pleasure to help you along the way.
  22. My name is fairly straightforward. When this forum started up, I was in college and fishing down at taney a bunch. I would mostly night fish after classes, but also spent a ton of time fishing during the day. Many times while fishing at night, while waiting for the water to drop, or otherwise, I would take a nap on the picnic tables at the pavilion. I guess you could say that's when my trout bum days started. Mo-Trout-bum--a Missouri Trout Bum. I no longer live in Missouri, but I'll always be a motroutbum.
  23. Correct, those are creek chubs.
  24. I do still guide out here! September is a great time to be in the Rockies. Rocky Mountain National Park is a great place to spend time as well as fishing the Big Thompson in the canyon below Lake Estes.
  25. The entire stretch of the Arkansas River from Leadville to Pueblo (102 miles) is Gold Medal water now. No Bait.
