Ok I went bank fishing for Channel Cats fished 3 hours and only caught two smallish ones.
Must be a Catfish thing. I have been there when they were biting and catch Channels and Blues fast as Lines hit the water.

Ok I have to admit seems like every space along the river that can have an Outfitter has one. When Hidden Valley open shop I couldn't help but feel negative.
I was Reborn in the Niangua and plan on it to be my final Resting Place. My family has worked with Outfitters over many years. We have bought Rafts for Outfitters and they pay us a percentage. Have seen changes not only with the river but the whole area. Dealing with a whole different type of people.
I still Love the river not for the Trout. One species of fish but the many other species.

Ok I was fishing down stream below the riffle at Barclay, the hole just below the Root Wad. Caught two Trout then they quit. Started seeing several Trot go belly up, four Otters were in the hole, they was going back and forth in the hole. If they wasn't killing Trout for fun why was these Trout dying?

Ok I would say not stocking the numbers they say they are plus dang Otters. They are Dening all the way down the River. Have set on the Sycamores just below 64 HWY Bridge have Otters all over me. Same at Barclay.

There is no way they would go through that trouble. Now people catching maybe double limit in one day is very possible but not that many doing it. Most I seen was Guys catch limit at the Park then do the same in the river below the bridge.
I would much rather go on down river catch more variety of warm water fish, or Goggle Eye above the Park.

He has no say what fish go in the spring.
Actually I was upset with many things I thought Jim Rogers had control over only to find he didn't have control over these things.

Went over to Pomme de Terre about Noon, fishing from the Bank using Dip Bait. Caught 5 Channel Cats right off the bat, then nothing. If I would have had Spinners I could have caught bunch of Bass, they was feeding on Shad.
My catch

Ok I was having trouble figuring where it is. Seems it is well away from our Cabin and was isolated even at the Resort.
Like I told my wife winds come across these waters and there is no stopping them.
Saying Prayers for them.

I like Pomme de Terre and mostly fish from the bank. Have seen several places by the Dam and over on the East side. Ideal spot is between Pomme de Terre and Truman Lakes, had a place like this Loved it.
Now have a place by Bennett Spring and by Truman Lake. Both places are nice.
Haven't looked into Land Prices or just cost but I really like Forsyth, between Taneycomo and Bull Shoals.
Oh seen you was wanting a place in the Ozarks. To me Pomme de Terre is not really the Ozarks, to me not the Hills.

Now days my Kids take the Old Man on Float Trips.
One has Rafts one Outfitter is using, outfitter pays him but we can use them any time, outfitter shuttles us.

Done figured out if you see people going to a certain spot on the river the Trout are biting. This morning I went early down on the Niangua, being Saturday I figured there would be someone there. Nobody ????
Went where I usually do, caught 3 keeper Rainbows. Try as I could couldn't get another bite. Went to several other places.
Thinking of going on down to warmer water and catching a more variety.

Always get a laugh about some saying Rattlers in Missouri are rare. Had a place in Belair,MO, loaded with Rattlers and place in Lead Mine much worse.

This is very true but as many polluted Streams and Lakes I've ate so many Carp out of and Dangerous Chemicals I've worked with through my life, yes I have many Health Problems but figure they could be much worse.
Lead getting in Lead Mine waters isn't what is bad it's what they used to get the Lead out of the rock that is so dangerous going into the Niangua.
