  1. I've used one on a casting reel and wasn't overly impressed. I'm also not a fan of the split handle but it doesn't keep me from using them. But I did find the area right in front of the reel very uncomfortable with the way that I hold a casting rod. Nothing that some tape wouldn't cure, but it wasn't the rod that my G Loomis rods are so it sits in a closet. Yes the G's are way more expensive but it's what I like. I skimp on reels but not the rods.
  2. Well except for that one time when it totally pissed off Cricket!
  3. Ramman just let it go. Dude has been an idiot since he showed back up. Go to his profile and click where it says ignore user and you won't have to see his BS.
  4. Except that aggressor actually posted a fishing report from time to time. All we get here is googled pictures and unsolicited complaints.
  5. This is true. Google gives up on things quite easily. Your only other option is a paid service but I know that's not for everyone. I will say that V8 Miata build has my interest. Not that I would ever build one but it does sound neat.
  6. People are gouging themselves. These companies are just taking advantage of it.
  7. That's been my thoughts on them. Luckily I made that decision about 8 years ago.
  8. Yep. And mine do that. Sometimes I'm the one that suffers though. Actually mine are pretty easy. They get along, they know how to speak, they also know how to be quiet and patient. It's not rocket science, but parents have to put in a effort as well.
  9. My youngest (13) is a technology nut. (Actually all of my kids have been. They probably got it from me.) She doesn't like to fish. She doesn't like boats. So most would assume that she sits in her room all day playing games. And while she is no stranger to games, you are more than likely going to find her in the backyard listening to music, writing songs, and drawing. If a kid wants to do nothing more than sit around and do nothing then that's on the parents, not the kids. I think most parents try to get their kids involved in what they like. But when their kid determines they don't like what their parents like then they are just left with nothing. So they do what all the other unsupervised kids do. It's great if your kids like to do what you like to do. Everybody wants that. But you can't just give up on them when they don't. If more parents would get interested in doing what their kids like to do, and enjoy doing it with them, the world would be a better place.
  10. That's cool and probably quite a surprise. I think that a lot of them are resident river fish. I've seen them all over the James in flood years and in not.
  11. I think someone is more concerned about post count than anything else. Check the posts. Who does things like that and why? Oh well. Not my circus, not my monkeys. The ignore button is your friend.
  12. Harps is bringing the Heat! And thanks for thinking of me as Otis the town drunk.
  13. Just making a point. Trying to anyway.
  14. I've become very used to the peace and quiet of the river. Where I can float down in my paddle craft and not be bothered by the noise of the lake. I don't know that I want jet boats on my rivers when I'm out trying to enjoy the peace and quiet. I think we need regs banning jet boats on rivers historically used for floating. No reason I have to listen to the noise you are creating.
  15. I spent a lot of time as a kid drifting for catfish with my dad. Lots of great memories. Ironically the last time we ever got to fish together we ended the day drifting for catfish and put several in the boat. It was like he knew it was the last time. Nice job John.
  16. So what are you going to do when the sail boaters get fed up with the fisherman and demand regulations on them? I'm so tired of the perpetually offended twits in society. Get over it already.
  17. Thank you very much for that. And no I didn't keep it under the limit. No way that was going to happen. Uploaded someplace else and used the links.
  18. Maybe you just never had a good one. But an old fashioned could take its place. I love those.
  19. I'm not sure how you make them but I know how they taste. I'll ask the margarita maker man for the formula.
  20. Took a 3 day float down a river with some great friends in search of a few fish, a great gravel bar to camp on, and the perfect margarita. I do believe we scored on all three. Two of us blew out of Springburg on Friday morning. Along the way we gathered up friends from both the East and West edges of the state. We met up with the shuttle Goddess and took her, one of her hands, and all three vehicles to the put in. Luckily they didn't take all three vehicles back at that point because just as we were about to push off it was determined that somebody left their rods in their truck. So away a couple of them went to retrieve those. Gave me plenty of time to get everything like I wanted and then we hit the water. Most of this is just a photo dump with a few comments thrown in. There were some 17 to 18 inch fish caught but I wasn't one of the lucky ones. I still had a huge smile on my face most of the time though. It should also be noted that the two biggest fish came on the fly. The fishing wasn't great the whole time but there were moments that it was really on fire and it did not matter what you were throwing. We caught fish on the bottom, in the middle and up on top. From plastics to flies everything worked when they were on. Did I mention amazing gravel bars for camping? Friday night at this camp I stuck a nice fish on a Wiggle Minnow on the fly rod. It was putting a bend deep into the 8 wt. I finally managed to get it out of some current and up over a submerged log. I thought it was game on for big fish awards. I was completely amazed and embarrassed when I saw the size of that fish. It's truly amazing how much of a fight these fish have in them. How about great scenery? Saw a few more stars in the sky than what I usually do in town. A few shooting stars. Possibly a UFO. This has instantly became one of my favorite pictures. It will make it to my office wall. Not many shots get that honor. And then it was over. Lots of beauty and great adventures in our Ozarks. Get out and get you a piece of it. It's worth the memories that will last a lifetime.

    What's Cooking?

It's just taters but the setting was amazing. So was the smoked meatloaf that somebody brought along. Wish I would have taken a picture of the dutch oven peach cobbler. It was a winner.
  22. in·flu·ence /ˈinflo͝oəns/ noun 1.the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself by paying them off. "the Plasters paid Representative Ross to be a turd like them" synonyms:cheat, steal, suck,
  23. But some pics I can upload using data. Pics taken minutes apart on the same device. One will upload and one won't and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with size. When I get back to my wifi I'll try the image I tried earlier today.
