  1. 185 tracker with a sport jet. Trying to talk Phil into coming out too. If you see me come up and say hey.
  2. I'm headed back over to Flat Creek tomorrow. Will let you know if I find some whites.
  3. Been catching a few small males everyday last week. It's going to be soon.
  4. I did catch a few of those. Released them.
  5. Good stuff Scott. I have found myself doing the same thing on the Rock in search of Crappie.
  6. I don't know what that is Dutch.
  7. Come on down Chief. Sorry I didn't hang out on Friday night….Told you I was on a mission.
  8. I would troll along, trying to keep the boat in 13 feet of water slow enough to tick the bottom till I caught a fish, then stop and fan cast the area for a while.
  9. I will have to try and get down there just to see you Randy!
  10. Or at least one bucket full anyway. I've been fishing Flat Creek for a couple of weeks now and been doing pretty good. Today was one of the better days for me. Started out early and was the first boat out there. Found a school of them and had 8 keepers in the boat by 10 with several shorts, 6 or 7 whites and 3 bass released. The cloud cover came in and everything shut off for about 4 hours. Around 3 this afternoon the bite picked back up and I put 6 more keepers in the live well and released several more crappie and another 5 short bass. I also caught several nice sized gills today. Some of the crappie were real pigs pushing the 15 inch range. All of the fish were caught on Bobby Garland jigs that were all black or had some kind of black in them with 1/16th oz. jig heads. All of the fish were caught in exactly 13 feet of water. The only bites I got today came out of 13 feet of water and that is it. Yesterday it was 16 feet of water and last week it was 7-10. If you find a couple at a certain depth, keep concentrating on that same depth, even in different locations.
  11. Nice meeting you wounded one and good to see KC again. Wish I would have had a little more time to spend on the water with you guys.
  12. Great report!
  13. I'm thinking this one will be packed!
  14. I was kinda all over the place this weekend so my report does not really fit into any one fishing report thread. Started off with the great idea on Friday of getting some creek chubs for fishing on upper Bull Shoals with my brother Dave on Saturday. I ended up hitting the jackpot with the creek chubs on Friday and was so excited about catching walleye that I could not sleep that night. Got up at 3:30 in the morning and it was 43 degrees at my house on Table Rock. Great! I thought. By the time we got over to River Run, it was 23 degrees and cold! Put in at River Run just before daylight and boated up to the Pot Hole. Spent about an hour working the seams up there with out a bite. Started drifting the creek chubs across the flats all the way down to Barkers Hole still with out a bite. Finally got one bite on a drop off of a flat just below Barker Hole around 11 in the morning. Only had the fish on for a couple of seconds and it did not feel too big. Started getting bored and headed over to Flat Creek on the James River Arm of Table Rock to look for some crappie. There were quite a few boats out there but I did not see any fish being caught. I ended up with 2 keeper crappie, one short and a nice kentucky on Bobby Garland Monkey Milk with 1/16th oz. jig heads. Fished till just before dark and called it quits. Sunday morning we headed to the Landing area on Lake Taneycomo for more crappie and trout. It was a fish catching day. We caught 12-15 crappie and a bunch of trout on white trout magnets about 5 feet under a weighted bobber. Had a lot of fun spending time with my brother Dave this weekend and looking forward to the next time he can come down to fish again.
  15. Great report! Sounds like 3 generations put the smack down on Taney. Thanks for sharing.
  16. a new member was inducted into the Lake Taneycomo Strippers Club. With the wind yesterday, I had absolutely no intentions on trying to fish during the day. I thought the wind might die down in the evening so I had a thought or two about doing some night fishing. Right at dark, I went out on the front porch to check the wind and decided it was still too windy to fish. I settled in for the evening watching the Olympics. Right around 8 p.m. I got a text from one of our forum members, flatbottom boy, stating that he was down at Taney and going to give the night fishing thing a try. As I was trying to text him a few tips on where to fish, how to fish, and what to fish with, I was over come with and succumbed to the urge to go. I ended up sending the last text saying, "I'll be there shortly." Got to the water about 8:45, wadered up and headed to the chute above Trophy Run. The wind had died down considerably, there was no moon, and it was dark! Started with a white mink sculpin and worked my way from the top of the chute down to Trophy Run. Had one bite about midway down on the white. It was a lot slower than I was hoping for. Changed to an olive pine squirrel for a while and nothing. Changed back to white, picked up one fish and decided to head back up to Eric to see how he was doing. He had caught two fish on the white mink. We crossed over and headed up to and across from the boat ramp. The fishing was pretty good up there. We were getting bites on just about every drift with a lot of short strikes and picked up a couple of nice fish up there. I caught one that was pushing 18 inches. Right around 10:30, the wind started howling again making it tough to feel the bite. I cried "uncle", believe it or not, and decided to call it a night. It ended up being a pretty good night of fishing after a slow start.
  17. Nice Marty!
  18. I've been wanting to give that at try. You just upped the ante!
  19. As far as Alaskan non resident license are concerned, water fowl hunting is the cheapest license of all. $25 for the small game and another $5 for the state water fowl stamp. I would like to get over to New ZEALAND and Australia for some of that action too. The 4 exotic teal of Argentina would be awesome too.
  20. It"s not the size of the net that matters. It's how you use it. However, I have found that once you realize your net is too small, It's usually too late…..
  21. Got done working kind of early today so I decided to see if I could find the crappie down at the Landing again. Started fishing at 3:30 and fished for 2 hours. No water was running and no breeze was blowing. Started a little further out from shore a couple hundred yards above the Fish House straight lining brown and orange 3/32 oz. marabou jigs. Picked up a couple trout, 3 small crappie and 2 blue gills. Changed over to a white bodied trout magnet on a 1/32 oz gold head 6 feet under and indicator and found a small pocket of crappie. Caught 7 or 8 of them with one going 12 inches. The rest were under 8 inches. Also caught another 5-6 blue gills and 7-8 more trout with two of them being pretty good chunkers in the 15-16 inch range. I would cast the trout magnet out and let it sink under the indicator for about 8 seconds then give it a little twitch every 2-3 seconds. Kept busy reeling in fish, but not enough of them were the nice sized crappie I was looking for.
  22. The end of this week and next week is looking pretty good so far in the forecasts. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
  23. That's the cool thing about night fishing....no one can tell if it was a bad cast or not....he he he!
  24. Won't take much twisting. I'm not very tolerant to pain like that. I'd be happy to officially induct you into the Lake Taneycomo Friday Night Strippers Club.....LOL!
