  1. - I think I actually read someone posted the soaking the baits trick. If I woulda spotted you tinkering with baits in the sink; I woulda certainly kept my mouth shut. That's a sure sign you were conjuring a little magic. And at times like that, I learned from watching Gilligans Island......."mums the word!";-)
  2. - Congrats on the beautiful boat hunter! Great color choices too. - Please do post more pix in this thread. I'd love to see all the storage. It's always cool seeing the layout of new boats, from an owners perspective.:-)
  3. - I'd give my left eye to be on The Rock in an hour!..........people who don't understand an hour each way, need their heads checked.........it's about 4 for me........but I'm sure others have it worse.
  4. - I think Dave posted a brief video when last asked that question. - http://youtu.be/fJEV3dGyp3U - (Sorry, I couldn't resist.........not sure why this cracks me up. Guess it's a Friday thing!)
  5. Nice report bo and great fish for Linda! - Take that zero and stretch it a few times until the salt starts flying out of it(caution, there's a lot in there and it can make a mess); and the color lightens a pinch and it will REALLY soften up! Careful stretching it; go easy on it or they can start to tear or break a bit. Especially if they're a bit older of a pack. I prefer the zeros and Zinkerz over any other Zman baits. Higher salt content makes them even softer; I seem to catch more with them for that reason.........at least I think that's why!:-) - Then soak it overnight weighted down in some water to get the rest of the salt out. It should be super buoyant then. If not; at least it'll be crazy soft! - Then take them out in the morning and just press them hard in a paper towel to quickly dry them and you're ready for action!
  6. - You and I both! - (Great report and pix bill..........takes me away from my cubicle for a couple minutes:-)
  7. Looks like you were burning the midnight oil to post that up Dave; great stuff as always!. Another simple blueprint for success; all yah gotta do is follow it to the letter.:-)
  8. Oh man; that's great bill! Shame on those folks for not doin their research.
  9. Good stuff Dave; thanks for the pix. It'll be interesting to see how it performs in comparison to the wart.
  10. - I fished them last season and wasn't overly impressed. The tail didn't kick nearly as much as the GYCB. I had to reel a pinch faster to get some good action from them; on identical jigheads I was throwing GYCB grubs on. - The bags of élan tech grubs I had seemed like the tails were a bit too rigid. After not getting bit on them, I switched back to the GYCB and peaked some interest of fish again. - Maybe I just had a couple crappy bags; so hopefully dtrs has better luck with them.
  11. On my old boat; I had a hummingbird 767. Yup just one.........BUT..........I had a hummingbird quick release bracket on the bow and console. Second transducer on the trolling motor. Just push the button on either bracket when going from console/bow or vice versa; and had the graph with me, then snapped it in.......easy-easy..........It was no big deal at all and a lot cheaper than 2 seperate units. - Just a thought.:-)
  12. - Our local bps has the canada craw zinkerz in stock. Grabbed some this morning. Hadn't even read this thread yet, but know the virtues of the ole new money color and saw canada craw and pounced........I actually saw the TRD in Canada craw first; then did the math with bait count in the TRD bag vs the zinkerz. Like you said, better buy in the zinkerz since we snip them in half. Glad they had them in the zinkerz; the higher salt content is much preferred over similar baits with less salt in the zman line. - I saw you mention bloodworm (I agree, looks promising); is it available in the zinkerz? (I'm not seeing it online)
  13. - Now this sounds like the kind of club I'd be interested in. Too bad I live about a gozillion miles away!:-(
  14. I thought I read mclelland was involved in the design of these rock crawlers to directly compete with the wart; but dive deeper? - But somebody with more knowledge can certainly correct me on that.
  15. - As mentioned; loctite brand grey and blue bottle. Walmart carries it. For whatever reason; other super glues tend to destroy the zman stuff. - And too; like said above; don't try feeling for a bite or tick. Lose contact with the bait; the bait is so small and soft; typically if they pick it up; they want to keep it. - It's a great bait to throw in while your grabbing some more beef jerky or getting a drink and have your rod between your knees after a cast; with the bait in the water. I've lost count how many times I've gotten back to actually paying attention to my rod and I've got a fish on the Ned rig.
  16. Definitely a cold one at there today. Good on yah for heading out! - And that super glue trick was the best solution I found to split fingers too.(I meant to post that in the thread with your finger pix) that Second Skin or Nu-Skin stuff isn't worth the hassle. - I used to work on/under cars/trucks in the winter with road salt/melting snow dripping from them, coupled with cold temps; my fingers would split something terrible. Super glue was my only savior!
  17. Great pix and info. Can't wait to see the video!
  18. Nice report and good looking fish there Champ..........but daggum Donna! Give those poor hands of yours a rest.........makes my paws hurt just looking at those pix. Ole man winter has indeed been rough on your hands.:-(
  19. - The experts will be along shortly with more info; but I believe the pre-rapalas all have 'wiggle wart' under the lip. - And there are probably other distinguishing factors too..........I just can't think of them at the moment.
  20. Re: those crazy eBay prices; I wonder if those are legit? Meaning I wonder if the seller has 2 other accounts or friends of his start some wacky bidding war.(just thinkin out loud here........cause those prices make no darn sense) - I read the description about the bait being super rare and all......and I understand true collectors will spend obscene amounts of money for something they want..........but good night........that's crazy!
  21. - I might be showing my wart ignorance here; but I didn't realize they actually made silent warts?......... Is it possible they weren't designed silent; and the balls had rusted to one side?
  22. - Don't listen to Quill there Champ(hahaha)..........keep us posted on those Spros. I really look forward to getting my hands on them.:-)
  23. - Thanks for the heads up Quill! I'll probably need to grab a few of those myself.:-)
  24. - Awesome still shot there Champ. I didn't see that when I posted earlier, great job. :-)
  25. This feller knows a thing or 2 about lure painting; (:-P).......he's in Reed Springs. - http://www.hughescustombaits.com
