Indian Point Wildlife Violators - Stringer of Short Smallmouth
motoman replied to Ben Gillispie's topic in Table Rock Lake
Keep us posted what unfolds. Make sure there's plenty of evidence before calling the law. Would hate for the authorities to show up and this be the one night they aren't keeping any shorts. - Maybe snap a pic of them checking on their haul a time or 2. - Good looking out! -
I agree, going back thru the archives and search this time of year will tell yah all you need to know. You'll see a few common themes repeat. Few people will be chatting much with a tourney on the horizon.

Thanks for the update.........that's awesome to hear it was such a straightforward repair!:-)
-
Electronic Control Unit I believe. The onboard computer storing diagnostic/trouble codes. That could prove challenging to service if you can't pull the codes. - I thought Hydro-Tec in Nixa were Yamaha gurus, also handling rebuilds and performance stuff too? I'm pretty certain they sell genuine Yamaha parts and accessories..........I'd think they'd have to have access to Yamaha software.........but I could be wrong.

Great report and no such thing as too many pix around here!:-)
-
I leave them and use the ole bobber trick; then try to get the bait before I leave the spot. (mentioned above). I don't get enough time on the water anymore to risk messing up a productive spot. :-(
-
I'd certainly make sure the trailer is level. I'm a fan of trying the easiest and simplest things first. Which my first thought went to tire/wheel not balanced or out of round or something. You could take the wheels off yourself and bring them to any tire shop to check. (Assuming the vibration just recently occurred) - After that; I'm stumped.

Beat me to it there Dave!(lol) I forgot to hit the ole 'submit reply' button. - Great minds think alike.............and us too!:-P

I find that a couple drops of the Grey/blue Loctite super glue at the jighead/keitech union helps. Plus.......another place I find them tearing is where the curve of the hook comes out of the body of the bait. After I have the bait rigged up; another drop of the same superglue where the hook shank curves out and the soft plastic meet; helps to keep the hook from tearing a slit, thru the body of the bait as much. (Kinda strengthens that area) - But, even that doesn't save them from significant damage. I don't mind though, cause they're usually damaged from fish, where the timber seems to eat them whole. I just pitch those damaged ones aside; and try to mend them back into service at night. Some are salvageable; most go to the trash.

I just throw them in a Plano, laying all on top of each other. (Straightened out though) No noticeable tail deformity after having some of them laying on top of each other for over 2 years.(forgot I had a smaller box of them too) They're so soft, once they get moving in the water, they wiggle like they were brand new. I couldn't take the clamshell storage thing either. - The 3.8's come packaged laying on top of each other in a little plastic tub; so I figured the clamshell ones would be fine that way too. So far so good.

Well done there..........great report, but you said it........you really did spoil your buddy with his first time on TR!

Hope it works for yah Donna! ........and I totally agree, this sun gear can be some pretty goofy looking stuff; but it's for the right reason. Anymore, being in the heat and sun, I just don't feel comfortable not well covered. It's also nice after being on the water, not being miserable for days with a stinging sunburn.

- I'm like you macs; I'm not a fan of breathing thru fabric. After trying several other brands with small vent holes; I settled on the gillzmask. Great quality, easy to breath thru with the mesh mouth opening and company ships fast and cheap! - https://gillz-gear.com/collections/gillzmask

Oh yeah; I forgot to mention; I use Cabelas Guidewear UV sun sleeves with thumbhole too(thumbhole keeps them from sliding up over the day AND protects the back of your hand from sun too!). They are CRAZY cool, won't slide up on your arm and actually have little rubber grippers in the palm to help hold onto your rods or steering wheel and shifter in the boat; awesome with wet hands. Very well thought out product. - Looking at Cabelas website; I'm not sure if they've changed the design or not. Everything reads the same from when I got them; except no mention of the rubber grippers in the palm; and I don't see them in the pix. (That's a great feature, I hope they still have them!) http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Guidewear174-Cooling-UV-Sun-Sleeve/1746825.uts

I hate slimey, stinky sunscreen and sunburn equally as much.......so I tried several UV buffs. Buff brand (terrible! No holes to breath thru felt suffocating!), Columbia, and a few others. I finally settled on the Gillz Mask. It's the only one I've found that's gotta large mesh opening to breath through; which makes it even MORE comfortable. (Others felt a bit restrictive breathing, even with small holes) The material the Gillz brand are made of is comfy enough after you have them on for a minute; I forget I have them on. The material is very breathable; wicks sweat away and when you buy them in a color lighter than your skin; it's actually more comfortable in the hot sun than bare, exposed skin. (It's not opinion, thats science:-) - Gillz-Mask ships fast and charges actually shipping of just a couple bucks.:-) - https://gillz-gear.com/collections/gillzmask - Don't let the 'tough' guys comments about how they look bother yah either. My father and I were very close and I had to help take care of him and watch cancer eat him alive for 5 years; until it finally got him. Cancer is pretty horrific stuff. So I take sun protection very seriously. Good to see you taking it seriously too!

Bass Blaster. Story about thieves stealing lower units on LOZ
motoman replied to Sore Thumbs's topic in Table Rock Lake
That's interesting and aggravating........but, is there no shift rod in the mid-section or at the powerhead on a Merc, that needs to be disconnected to drop the lower unit? (Or you think they just cut that or try and rip it out?) - Our outboard of a different brand, has the shift-rod disconnect bolt, buried deep in the tangle of wires/hoses/flux capacitors next to the powerhead. Which is a pain to access.:-( -
Hot dang there Pepe! That's great to hear it was worth the effort.........she's is tough..........not sure if I'd be too eager to get out to fish in this weather myself.
-
-Ma's (breakfast anytime!) -Danna's (BBQ) -Parmesan's (Italian) All great places right there in KC (or a minute from KC) no need to go to Branson

Great read Mike..........sorry it didn't work out for yah, but glad to hear that fire is burning hot in yah to get at it again! - (also refreshing to hear of someone else throwing a light wire jighead on swimbaits.:-)

Leading the BASS Open heading into the final day!!!
motoman replied to Mike jones's topic in Table Rock Lake
Agreed; it would be interesting to hear some details later...........and good luck!:-) -
I'm a bit perplexed by this myself. I don't consider myself very tech or computer savvy; but it's just a message board/forum. Pretty straightforward stuff; but as others mentioned, less pop-ups and ads compared to other message boards; so it's better than most. - There are a few other message boards on completely unrelated topics I'm interested in; but they are so cluttered with ads, I can't stand trying to navigate around them. - Just give it a little time here and wander around a bit; it'll become intuitive and second nature. Sorry you're having troubles.........but like anything in life, don't give up.:-)

Sorry to hear about the headache rps:-( - But, I'll have to disagree here a bit on 'not' using the loc-r-bar or any other deterrent. Thieves are lazy; and anything to make their job tougher will make a difference. - An interesting article came across my apple news feed on my iPhone a few weeks ago. (Can't seem to find it now though) It was talking about some Universtity study that interviewed burglars in relation to home security. And an overwhelming majority of the criminals said that if they met any sort of deterrent to get what they wanted; they knew they could just move onto the next house or car and find one unlocked and get what they want much easier. - I think this especially holds true on a community dock. The time a thief would spend prying away on a loc-r-bar to destroy a gunnel; to get to the unknown, they could twist open hatches on several more boats and NOT make a sound. - I know there has been the Internet rumor floating around for years about the loc-r-bar being thwarted by a trailer winch strap.(if a boats on a trailer) Loc-r-bar has had a reward out for anyone able to prove that rumor; but it's never been paid. - I have no vested interest in the loc-r-bar; I had one on a previous boat and it was a just an impressive product. (I sold it as I rarely used it) I'm just a fan of simple deterrents. - Best of luck finding your gear rps; and the dirt bags involved!

Google image search - fishing screw-lock - I have a similar variety; that I can't think of the exact name of; but similar principle.

It's funny you mention that Quill. Back home up here in St.Peters, I've seen the same thing the past few week. Not always heading north necessarily; but old war planes flying over very low; more than usual. Maybe it's the time of year? - Their engines always have that distinct low rumble of the radial engine; you can hear from pretty far away. It definitely perks my ear much more quickly than a smaller, more common aircraft like a Cessna.

I e-mailed and am sending printed letters snail mail. It's worth a couple bucks in stamps to send a deluge of letters, if it helps preserve a great resource for our kids!
