  1. These millennials and their fake news/reports. Photoshopped pics of fish and stealing big bro's fishing spots. SAD!
  2. Exactly. Bill's last post, to be honest, almost has TOO much information divulged. If you can't read that report and put something together to catch some fish, maybe take up golf instead. Know what I mean, Vern(on)?
  3. Well said. The amount of fun that has been had and memories that have been created on our dock since the early 80's, you can't put a price tag on. Spanning four generations within our family now. I understand what Bo is saying and there certainly should be some sort of restriction on allowing new docks to be put into TR. As popular as Branson and the TR area has become in the last decade+ it only makes sense to do so before it gets out of hand. But all dock owners shouldn't be painted with the same brush and the same is true for boat owners. Always a few maniacs on either side that ruin it for the rest, like anything else in life.
  4. Ned is a fictional character. Nobody know's if he actually exists nor how the origins of "Ned Rigging" began. It's like Keyser Soze or Satoshi Nakamoto. But he was clearly a finesse fishing genius and said to be from Kansas with an affinity to run over gophers with Ford Excursions.
  5. Who says Ozark Hillbillies aren't sophisticated? Sounds de-lish.
  6. Wrong again. Missouri Law prohibits anyone from fishing within 1500 yards of my dock. I have the howitzer that's mounted on our patio dialed in on anything from 1-1,499.99 yards. Can drop that shell in your shirt pocket before you make that skip into my stall and you wouldn't even know what hit you.
  7. I know of one specific dock with a green roof for sure. Where you been lately??? Good to see you back on the boards.
  8. Last reminder to get your rosters set before tomorrows event kicks off on the Upper Mississippi. Good luck guys (Donna appears to have checked out on this deal).
  9. I have some 20lb Yo Zuri TopKnot fluoro. Only have it on my stoutest rod which is the 7'5" XH BuCoo Super Duty. Use this rod for ploppers, A-Rigs, Swimbaits or where I need to wench fish out of something quick. So that being said I like the line for the price but as you mention it is STIFF and has memory. But if you give it a stretch before a trip and put some line conditioner on there it's not that bad. It's lower stretch compared to other fluoros I've used. Never a bad idea to give any line that's been sitting a little while a good stretch and squirt of spray. If you intend on throwing lighter baits on it might not be a good suitor for you. But with the heavier baits I'm chucking on it, it doesn't make to much of a difference.
  10. The inaccuracies of this article are hilarious, as others have already pointed out. Not sure where he and his family were posted up to view this barrage of negligent and disruptive bass boat foray but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for him to spend a day, heck 15 minutes, at LOZ on a summer Saturday. His brain would make for some good chum when it exploded. As someone who has a single, two stall private dock in the direct line of fire in Beardsley during prime water skiing season.....the degree of difference between a bass boat cruising by versus the Ocean Cruisers and Wake Boats with thousands of extra pounds of water in their ballast tanks is out of sight. I would gladly invite this buffoon to spend an afternoon with me on our dock and DOCKument each passing boat in both category class (bass vs non-bass boats) and rate each wave in frequency, size and potential to damage property, such as the dock. Wouldn't take but 1 hour for this guy to pull a 180 on his convictions. Scary that this guy is allowed to publish anything and that people may read it and take it as fact. Interesting times we live in.
  11. My 2 cents: I like Yo Zuri Hybrid for my spinning gear. I am also a line diameter vs test rating fact checker. All that info can be found on Tackle Warehouse. which makes it easy to compare/contrast different brands or even lines within the same brand. On the topwater front, I have been using 17lb Trilene XL for 20 years and see no reason to stop. I also use Big Game for other various mono applications like hard swimbaits and ploppers. PLine CXX is some of the strongest line I've ever used and it has it's place. Stuff will break your rod before the line snaps. But it is quite a bit stiffer than mono and even other Co-Polys.
  12. Only commercial worse than this one is the "Andy....we got it!" Lucas Marine oil ads. Production cost on both commercials combined is less than you'd pay for pack of Zinkers. If they paid anymore than that to shoot those.....they got ripped off. That said, there is certainly some comedic value to Tak with his broken English delivering the punch line.
  13. I sure hope that goggle wasn't relocated. More exotic relocation infractions are triple the fine, according to misinterpreted MDC laws, if I'm not mistaken. Nice fish. Bout time someone gave some love to bronzebacks. Usually the largies or big boned K's always steal the photo ops. Good deal.
  14. Ya, bit of a bummer to have essentially been cheated out of fishing two evenings and one morning. Limited to the big motor the other morning was NOT ideal. But that's boats, that's fishing and that's life. The earlier the better on the topwater deal, of course. Was good for us until around 8ish but still picked up some here and there til 10ish. Two mornings was a small sample size but they hit consistently enough til 10 to keep us entertained. Either way 10am is the cutoff regardless if they are blowing up on our offerings as the lake lice are taking the lake over at that point anyways. Stay safe. Stay cool.
  15. What's a Ned Rig?
  16. Unfortunately wasn't able to fish much at all. Main reason for going down was to do dock repairs but had planned fishing early AM and evenings. Had quite a few rotten boards on the walkway and swim deck that needed immediate attention, especially when all the young kids are down. But also had battery/wiring/troller issues. Getting power to the front switch that powers the graph and troller but for whatever reason it isn't making it to either the troller nor graph. Not sure what the heck is going on. Ran power direct to troller and worked fine. Gonna have to get someone more electrician oriented than me to figure it out. Was able to get out on Friday morning for a couple of hours (pre troller problem) and found a decent topwater bite. On the water at 630am, it fizzled out around 10am and that's when we quit to start on the dock repairs. Tried to get back out on Friday night around sundown and after motoring over to the first spot of the evening.....drop troller......dead in the water. No lures got wet, just a few curse words cast. Back to the dock slip we went. Saturday morning used the big motor to get out on main lake points with sharp drop offs that dump into the channel. Had no troller so just bobbed around and chucked topwater in all directions for a couple hours. Lots of fish chasing. Caught them on spooks, ploppers and wakers. Spook and wakers that made less noise/disturbance seemed to fare a lot better. Fish were anywhere from 20-80 FOW just pushing shad up and down. Also found schools of whites in the same areas down below the surfacing blacks. Dropped a 1/2oz White War Eagle spoon and they were all over it. Was just impossible to stay over them with no troller and only console graph working. Best fish were a 3lb LM and around a 4lb white. Water temps around 82-83. Clarity around the dam had a green tinge with around 10 feet of visibility. Ocean liners counted from dock in Beardsley, 17. Idiotic boat maneuver count, 34. Lower units/skiers lower limbs in jeopardy of hitting underwater trees at any moment....too many to count.
  17. Great to see you back on the water Dave. Hope all is well. Net Monkey is quickly turning into Net Gorilla. Only a few more years before you're the one in the back scrambling for the net. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Bo likes to take our precious clear water Brown fish from around the dam and transplant them up river around the White and James arms. He's a real homewrecker. Probably the reason why Quill is the King of the Meanmouths here on the boards.
  19. I'll be out there Friday night and through the weekend. More than likely will be fishing around the dam on both Friday and Saturday nights. Usually hang around a mile or two in either direction from Pt. 2. I'll keep an eye out for ya. If you hear jigs hitting tin dock roofs in the dark with regularity......that's us.
  20. Was just asking as a lot of jig manufacturers have the recessed line tie nowadays. Just wanted your two cents if there was any merit in their claim of protecting the knot. I don't own any (90% of my jigs are Nutech's) but just wondered. Thanks for the response.
