  1. Way to go Aaron and Macey.
  2. If you are casting with your right then switching hands you would fit right in with the back reelers.
  3. All you have to do is drop your finger, same as when you are feathering a cast.
  4. Totally true. I was the one that shot it.
  5. BilletHead at least with you singing it we don't have to listen to Mitch signing. It was a wonderful trip but the start was less than ideal. Hog Wally's electric went off at his home. Our tow vehicle, my truck, had a tire going flat when I got to where we were meeting. We lost trailer lights before we went 100 miles. We were able to overcome those things and had a great time. The fish were huge and often we caught them in heavy current. My medium rod with 12lb line was over matched in that current with those fish. Great time with great companions. Need sleep badly. Need my hands to heal up. Gotta love a PiverPro!!!
  6. Don't know where you live but if you are in the St. Louis area Bullseye Bait and Tackle does reel repair. I have used them but it was really just maintenance not any kind of real repair work.
  7. I was on the river today and saw some beds. Normally about all the river smallies are done by now. Maybe all the high water delayed some of them. The fish I caught showed no signs of recently spawning.
  8. Over the weekend I was fishing a small lake near Jeff. City. In the morning I was all the way back in one cove throwing a top water and a barred owl came down after it. I thought it was cool at first but then realized if he got caught I was going to have my hands full. I could not reel faster than he could fly but at the last minute he flared off and sat in a tree. He would watch the lure when I cast then look at me. This went on for several minutes until I paddled away. That evening I was fishing a different cove once again all the way in the back and caught a small bass. This lake has been sampled by MDC and they stated that several hundred small bass should be taken out each year. The owl showed up while I was battling the fish and instead of releasing the fish I threw it up on the bank. Well the owl watched the fish and me for some time but when the fish made it to the edge of the water, he had had enough. Down he came grabbed the fish and flew off with it. I thought it was all pretty cool.
  9. Norm So glad you were able to enjoy a beautiful day. Hang in there my friend you will be good as new in no time. Tim
  10. I appreciate everyone's replies. My wife is planning for us to go to the Keys to celebrate our anniversary next year, 2018. It will be our 40th. We can stay in Marathon at a reduced rate. I would hope to do some flats or near shore/inshore fishing. Trolling is not something I would look forward to, but may give it a try. We have a while to plan and are not locked into a set date. Once again, thanks for all the replies.
  11. Scott, if they are close to right we can fish in the parking lot at DD and Yak to Joe Clarks for refreshments. They will be serving out the second floor windows.
  12. I need to simplify my life. I have two aluminum canoes 16ft. One is an Appleby and in a little ruff shape $100 the other is an Alumacraft and in very good condition $200. Last time I used them neither leaked. I have three other canoes and need rid of these. All offers considered. Tim I live in Barnhart, just south of St. Louis.
  13. Can anyone tell me what fishing would be available around Marathon Key in the February March time period. If you know a good guide in that area please advise. Not really interested in off shore stuff, more flats or back waters. I have no experience with salt water so any advise would be appreciated.
  14. Thank you Scott. We do try. Oh, it was a good day!!!!!
  15. Great stuff Norm. Now that you are retired head south for some Missouri smallmouth.
  16. Was that after we talked? Obviously you did not loose them.
  17. I realize that I'm late to this party. I just have not been keeping up. Norm and JD my prayers and thoughts are with both of you. There are fish to catch and water to see.
  18. Seth, nice meeting you, way too many people to remember.
  19. Well guys I think Saturday was a roaring success. MSA had about 10 guys, we cleaned up three river accesses and got about a pickup truck full of trash. Went to the Craw Shack and visited with many, many people. I am not going to try to name everyone as I'm sure I will forget some but many of the people I know from OA were there as well as other MSA members, and alot of people I did not know. Burgers, Hot dogs and a smoked brisket that Mitch out did himself on. Good food, good people, great time. Wishing Tackle HD all the success in the world. Thanks Mitch, Aaron, Scott and Paul.
  20. I have caught them on this,http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megabass_Magslowl_Swimbait/descpage-MMSB.html 5 inch one.
  21. Looks like great fun. I fish the creek near my house, that flows into the Mississippi a mile or so downstream, often. I can be in the water in minutes as opposed to driving several miles to other streams. The potential for large fish may not be the same but that does not make it less fun.
  22. NFC just announced all blanks half price until April 7. Must buy thru their web site. Just thought some one might be interested.
  23. Can anyone give me much information on the Gasconade between Wilbur Allen access and the Forest Service access below Falcon. Looking for a new stretch of water for a multi day float.
  24. Beautiful fish and great picture!!!
  25. Can one of you experienced Ned users explain to me why I don't want to "feel" whats going on?
