The plastic fishing hots spot maps of Table Rock have good shoreline markings based on gravel, chunk rock, rock, mud etc. The legend shows what's what. Map itself isn't real accurate on fishing information but it does do a good job of marking gravel etc.Sort of old school but in an evening you can find spots you'd like to investigate your next time out.

If anyone has a 2016 or 2017 Tyee GL please pm me if you wouldn't mind me taking a peek at it. The closest I can find to look at right now is about 500 miles away.Any thoughts from users would be great also. Comparing Skeeter 189 Solera to Lund 189 Gl. Have to keep the family happy but mostly for me!

Take a cell picture with their numbers and call. Had to do that last week when three were doing continuous circles 20 ft from our dock. Not for minutes but half the afternoon!! They have to learn some way. Talking to them doesn't work that's for sure!

Just an FYI ...for anyone between the Dam and 86. There's a dock ramp approx 20 feet long with a gate on it floating off of Emerald Pointe. Hope this helps anyone who hasn't checked recently.

Got some Kietechs direct from Kietech slightly out of spec at 4.1....fished for hours with no love. Went back to the 3.8 and the 4.3 and it was on again.Amazing how the fish in TR can size up a bait so quickly before they hit. ?

I have both his books with a 24"x36" map that he sold with the set showing all the historic underwater points of interest.... Cemeteries, School Houses, City of Oasis etc. It's very interesting to see what we're running over 100' below us when we're out there much less the history behind it.I think you can buy the books for about $12 each on either eBay or Amazon.

Wow! What insight. Thanks for all you contribute to this site!

I mounted the same thing about 3 years ago on my deep V.It sure gives me the peace of mind to know I can get to it and hopefully get back in especially in these cold months. I also put 2 small handles on the topside of my boat above the ladder(Lowes or Menards) to help pull myself in. Nothing's as easy as it was years ago for some reason!

If you'd like wolves in your backyard contact the Wisconsin DNR they may be able to help. They are very successful at introducing predatory species. Wolves were introduced in northern Wisconsin in the late 90's by the Wi DNR and they have literally exploded in numbers and have decimated the deer population and the first minor Elk introduction herd. Hunters in the northern third of the state in recent seasons have reported seeing more wolves than deer during the 9 day season.Sometimes nature has has much better control than humans. My dock is also covered with scales and excrement from our relatively new inhabitants!!!!

The lower end has its fair share of them. If you have any trees hung it's like a magnet for them.

After dealing with Zebra mussels for close to 10 years in Wisconsin I'd rethink that statement. The effects of Zebra mussels here is only starting. The jaws like them but nothing else about them is good, and they're very detrimental to the system. Locate a Lake Winnebago forum from Wisconsin if you want a commentary from fisherman, lake property owners and the WI DNR,however it's too late once they're here.

On the lower end during jigging I've hooked a couple Hellbenders and after bringing them up both had about a 3 foot length of heavy leader attached to the back eyelet and a Crappie bait of some sort attached. They must use the Hellbender to achieve the the deep depth for the suspended Crappies in the Summer. Interesting idea and must be common!

The Winnebago situation in Wisconsin is certainly on the extreme side and probably the worst case scenario in the state. Other lakes in the area are effected but not near what Winnebago has. The fertile shallow mainly mud bottom lake is probably the reason.Due to the shallow nature and entry into the lake of septic system leeching and fertilization around the lake, an algae bloom that is like pea soup similiar to Erie develops most years and there's plenty of nutrients to filter. The buildup in inlet/ outlet mouths, with some current, I mentioned in the original post are basically expired mussel shells. The upside I didn't have time to post originally is weed growth is now common which hurts trolling cranks or harnesses where before the dark water inhibited growth but.....Smallmouth are extremely common in the lake now where before they were the exception as well as Bluegill and an amazing amount of Jumbo 11-12" Perch using the weeds for cover, hatch survival and eating the Zebras. Mother nature seems to have a way of adapting to most things we throw at it.

Living on Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin for 60 years I can assure you that Zebra Mussels definitely change lake water conditions and fishing .Winnebago is a 35,000 acre lake, extremely fertile ,20 foot maximum depth and a traditional Walleye factory. The first Zebra Mussels were found on a bouy on the south end of the lake about 10 years ago. There are now billions of Zebra Mussels being so prolific with the following changes. Water clarity used to be 1-2 feet...now 8-12 ft due to the constant water filtering of the Zebra Mussel. Inlets on the lake are not accessable to boats because of the buildup of Zebra Mussels ...in some cases 3-4 feet deep and building. Many residents have contracted with dredging companies to clear the mussels out for access. Trolling bottom ticking cranks is no longer possible due to the razor like edges on the mussels cutting lines as fast as you can tie a new one on. Most shorelines of the lake are not swimable by residents unless water shoes are worn or your next stop is the local hospital. Water plants like Oshkosh that are removing water from the lake for treatment and drinking are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on removing mussels from clogged inlet pipes almost weekly. Mercury black is now brown if you keep your boat in the water at a marina. You also need to check your water intake before you head out or you may be in for a substantial bill. Winter sturgeon spearing is now restricted by specific numbers as the season lasts 1 to maybe 2 days rather than 2 weeks years ago because the water is gin clear down to the max of 20 feet and its a massacre. Whoever things the Zebra Mussel talk is propaganda talk to someone in Wisconsin. Live wells have to be sanitized, boats hulls sanitized, live minnow restrictions etc. PLEASE CLEAN, DRY AND INSPECT when going from one lake to another. The spread is probably inevitable but the effect on a lake can be dramatic.

Getting back to the original subject of bowfishing. I finally broke the underwater camera out today to check and see what was loitering under my dock. The last time was 5-6 weeks ago. From 10 -18 feet it was loaded with carp and what appeared to be large "red" suckers. I"m not saying a few but at least 30-40 of each with an occasional channel cat mixed in. Not a Bass, Crappie, or Bluegill even out to 35 feet.Have never seen this before in my 6 years down here. Maybe we do have a problem brewing here??

Turn left out of Big Cedar and go under the 86 bridge. Theres a beach on the left side just before bass pro Marina ..even roped off etc

Beautiful fish.. both species. Looks like you may have kept the Walleyes. Living there for 60 years the 17-20's are better eating but at times its hard to catch them that small...hard to believe. The fishery has literally exploded on the Bay in the last 15 years.Next time your up, the Fox below the Depere Dam if you can time it right is amazing for 10's plus. Miss it!

Here we go on the slip owners. No matter... slip or not you need to have boat, motor and trailer registered, so it costs you either way. We always hear about the slip owners , dangers, vandalism etc but the trailer owners/ fisherman never seem to complain about the dock bite when its gets going.Owning a slip does somewhat limit where you can fish economically but its pretty nice to be on the water in 5 minutes .
