  1. I have fished there a lot for sure.
  2. Wrist lanyard is not a bad idea, but I've been clipping onto my life vest for so long that it would be hard to break an old habit. Salzman won, young guy, and I think this is his first year on the tour.
  3. Gave it a shot today, little to no wind in the forecast which gave me hope for a top water striper bite. There's a few around, some blowups here and there, but no schooling frenzy stuff going on. Caught one 3 lb. striper and 10 smallmouth. Mostly on topwater with a couple of smallies on an underspin with a Keitech. It was an early bite, things really got slow about 0830 and I was on my way home at 1030. Surface WT 74. Lots of shad in the area.
  4. Just watched Salzman take the lead - striper (didn't count of course), smallmouth, then a largemouth. But they then cut to commercial, grrrr....
  5. I don't know. You'd think they'd want them hooked up. Wheeler in the lead, but it is tight.
  6. Nice looking brown, those browns have character.
  7. I was living in Washington when they banned hound hunting for cougars. If I remember right it was a ballot initiative. Prior to the ban there were no issues with them at all, the numbers were kept under control. Now you've got these periodic attacks. You can still hunt them, but not with dogs. A few usually get shot during elk and deer seasons, but it's not enough.
  8. Neat looking golden, looks like it has been in the river for a while.
  9. If I had Johnny Morris money I would definitely have a 1,000 acres of SD land for pheasant hunting. I'd have a nice lodge and a boat stored there too for fishing.
  10. Those are some quality fish. I'm surprised the walleye fishermen from Minnesota aren't all over it. 10 years ago, when I went pheasant hunting in SD, I remember seeing those recently flooded lakes by the highway, flooded barns out in the lake, barb wire fences in the water, and so on. Didn't see many people fishing them either. If a person could handle the nasty winters and the wind blowing all the time, SD would not be a bad place to live for an outdoorsman.
  11. Took another look at that smallies, looks like a semi-circular bite mark on it. Big flathead maybe?
  12. That's pretty neat, congrats on doing well!
  13. That flat by the dock is always worth a few casts. A buddy of mine was out there Saturday with his son, they caught a 10 lb. striper and a few smaller ones, they seem to be finally showing up in that area.
  14. That's some fun fishing, getting them on top!
  15. Ozark Trout Tackle (assuming you are specializing in trout stuff). Or Tany Trout Tackle (can be abbreviated to Triple T, or TTT).
  16. It is going to happen soon.
  17. Hopefully you can make it down here and we'll get out and chase them.
  18. He is still swimming around, I have enough fish in the freezer. Gotta leave some room in there for some gill fillets too. 😉
  19. Finally found some top water stripers in one of the coves. Didn't have much of a window to catch them as I didn't find them right away and once the sun came up they were done, but put one in the 10 lb. neighborhood in the boat. Biggest bass of the day was a 17 inch spot, threw to some surfacing stripers and that spot beat them to my lure. Bass fishing was slow, caught some small ones on top water and Keitech. No walleye today. WT 73.
  20. They are a neat little fish. If they grew to 10 lbs., I would be afraid to get in the water with them. Ferocious they are!
  21. First time out in almost 2 weeks, and I could not find much of a bite. Relatively cold north wind blowing, maybe that upset them. Caught a 1/2 dozen smallmouth, biggest was 16". All on the Keitech, except one top water fish. No sign of striper activity. Caught a big drum and a 20" walleye on the Keitech. The drum pulled pretty hard. WT 72
  22. Pulled pork and brisket for $7.99? I have to stay away from places like that, I'd eat way too much.
  23. That is pretty neat, hope it provides you with some great fishing in the future.
  24. Been a while since anyone has posted any lion stories. Here is one. Warning: Link is ad heavy. Mountain lion wanders into classroom at California high school, officials say (nbcnews.com)
  25. Welcome! The elusive musky, I have yet to catch one.
