  1. Never met him, but certainly enjoyed watching him fish, he was, in his way, different than the other pros. Sorry to hear of his passing.
  2. Cold morning today, with some thick fog thrown in. Hung around Big M for a while working the bank while waiting for the fog to clear. The bank was not good to me. After wasting two hours, and the fog clearing a bit, I was able to motor over to the deep spot where they have been. It was a bit slow and some biters weren't that dedicated by got a few working the drop shot in 25-40 FOW. I'm making a cast, letting it sink to the bottom and slowly dragging it back. Fish Doctor and Slim Senko both work, but I give a nod to the Senko today being a bit better. Missed probably more bites than I caught fish. Later left and went to another deep spot and found a few more on the drop shot. I'm mainly fishing deep gravel flats near the channel. Ended the day with 13 spots and one smallie. 4 of the spots were keepers. Spoke with someone that caught a 5-15 largemouth today, and whose best 5 were estimated at 16. or so. Can't say where or else they may send Guido to have a little "talk" with me. Since there were complaints to management about the lack of pictures in my last report, here ya go:
  3. That's assuming they all show, one of the qualifying tourneys was out west, I have to wonder how many of them will pull their boat out here for this.
  4. Championship is Nov. 19-21. 350 teams. Winning team walks away with $1 million plus a Tundra and a boat. Saw something about it being live on NBC, but don't know exactly what that means. Buddy of mine ran into someone on the lake yesterday that was from Kentucky and was here to practice.
  5. I start Medicare later this year (I can't believe I am saying that, I got old fast!), and they'll cover at least some of it, so I'll wait until then at least. I have noticed tying on lures is a little more difficult, but I can still see them when I cast them.
  6. Cataracts are starting on me too. Just a matter of time before I get the replacement eyes.
  7. A "Snackle" box - gotta love that!
  8. So is that what we have: Friday fish fry - Need to know from Brett if he has enough fish. Also someone needs to bring frying taters and onions. Saturday - Erik's BBQ and rat-tooie. Someone want to volunteer to bring buns? Do we need more stuff for Friday? Thursday - Probably won't be a full crew, maybe a dogs and burger night? I have a little charcoal grill that will do about 6 burgers at a time. Another option for Thursday is to head over to KT's BBQ - I have eaten there a couple of times and it is pretty darn good. They close at 7 PM however. (7) KT's Smokehouse BBQ and Catering | Facebook
  9. You know it will all disappear. Can't wait to try that smoked kingfish dip. Are you bringing chips or should we seek someone to volunteer? Doritos type chips for the ceviche, what type for the smoked kingfish?
  10. One ounce gold coin, a "Gold Cas" 1,000 Bitcoin, is now worth, according to the article, $48 million. Owner paid a little of $4 K for it back in 2011. Kept In A Drawer for 2 years, $4,905 Gold Bitcoin Physical Coin Now $48 Million, According to GreatCollections (prnewswire.com)
  11. A little under 65. Look like we've got some relatively cold weather ahead for the next few days, I would think we'd lose at least a couple more degrees on the WT.
  12. I thought you'd be more upset that I left out - "It was better than a day at work".
  13. Yeah, it was COLD out there today.
  14. Didn't throw one, but it should be happening soon.
  15. Wooo Doggies! Winter is here. I don't think it hit 50 all day, it was 45 when I left the lot at 1230. A bit windy with some cold rain thrown in. They are biting out deep if you can find them, deep being between 25-35 feet. My best technique was casting a drop shot rig and dragging it back on the bottom. Fish Doctor and a fluke worked best, they were hitting a finesse worm but I had trouble sticking them on the worm. The Doctor and Fluke did a good job of hooking them. I caught 4 keepers and 2 of them were largemouth, other 2 were spots as were most of the 13 or so others I caught. Caught a one inch short of a fillet walleye on a jerkbait, had another one chase it back to the boat, but doubt he would have kept. No bass on the jerker. Someone close by caught a couple of dozen deep, with, I think, 5 of them being keepers. WT was a shade under 65.
  16. Have a pic from a past OA event, a good fisherman and a good man.
  17. Very sorry to hear that. I have spoken to him several times at the OA tournament and always enjoyed my conversations with him.
  18. "Day in and out, it's hard to beat the regular little old heads. " I agree. it is so hard to find commercial Ned heads that have a hook smaller than 1/0 AND come with an acceptable weed guard. I once had some custom shroom heads made from a guy that will do custom orders at a reasonable price, but he could not use a hook smaller than 1/0, he said he could not make his mold work with a smaller hook. He also had a wire weed guard, but it was really flimsy and that combined with the 1/0 hook led to me to getting snagged a lot more than with the regular little old heads. They did get bites, but the snagging was making me crazy.
  19. Well if I am ever out fishing the White from the bank and see a hundo laying on the edge of the river, I'll know Les must be around somewhere.
  20. Quillback

    Not Today

You are catching some nice fish, congrats!
  21. Sounds like a Dogwood Canyon part 2.
  22. Looks like Brett will be coming with his fryer and flathead. I will bring the oil. I propose Friday to be fish fry night. If Brett needs more fish, I might bring some locally caught bass fillets, and maybe some Beaver lake spotted bass fillets. Seems like Brett always fries some taters and onions too, I don't remember if he brings that or it someone else does. I also plan to bring paper plates, cups, and utensils. I will bring ketchup also. Coffee - I am going to stay in the A-frame and there will be coffee there in the early morning. For those that are staying in the other lodges, you are welcome to come over to the A-frame, or you can bring some coffee and make it at your place. Breakfast - I plan on bringing some granola bars and possibly some Hostess doughnuts, ya'll might want to think about bringing your own favorites. Lunch - Usually no one is around for lunch, but someone should bring bread and lunchmeat for those that want to pack a lunch. So we'll need ideas/food for Thursday night and Saturday night. Beverages - Bring your own, but certainly would be good if someone brings some bottled water and some assorted sodas. Also need a bunch of trash bags. Does anyone know if there is a functioning dishwasher in the River Villa?
  23. As I understand it (and there are exceptions) once Bull drops down to power pool level, where it is now, SWPA controls the release of water through the turbines to generate electricity. Unless things have changed, and you never know, what you are seeing is not a COE draw down.
  24. So you and pops are in?
