  1. Your buddy Tom has caught several good walleye over the years, he's too modest to come on here and list them 😀 but next time I talk to him I'll have to ask him about them. His buddy Denis has caught a few too.
  2. Bowfisherman Shoots Paddlefish That Swam Nearly 1,000 Miles from South Dakota to Kentucky
  3. Dang it! I should've gone this morning. Congrats!
  4. Cow anxiety
  5. Buddy of mine used some brand of garlic spray on his bass plastics. Didn't seem to result in more bass catches, but it definitely caught some cats.
  6. Yeah, gonna try this myself.
  7. Last summer, the James above Flat creek was loaded with gar. I've never seen them that thick. Dunno if it holds true this year, but that would be a great place to throw a fly for them. With the high water it may be tough to get in the lake up there though.
  8. You need the Ronco Pocket DNA test kit. 19.95. And you get a free Ronco Pocket Fisherman if you order within 30 days. 😀
  9. I didn't know that either until I saw it on AGFC's webpage. Catfish Po-Boy: Fried Catfish Po-Boy With Cajun Slaw 2 pounds catfish fillets (flathead catfish belly meat is even better for this recipe) 6 cups yellow cornmeal 2 cups Louisiana fish fry — red box Salt, pepper, garlic and Cajun seasoning to taste Oil to fry Cajun Slaw: 1 bag of pre-cut slaw mix ½ cup ketchup ½ cup mayo ½ cup horseradish mustard ¼ cup olive oil 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon lemon juice In a large bowl, mix the cornmeal, fish fry and seasoning. Cut the fish into ½-inch-wide strips about 5 inches long. Toss the meat in the bowl, let sit while you heat the oil to 350 degrees. Once oil is heated, carefully add your fish, making sure not to crowd the fryer. Fry about 5 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels, repeat until all fish is cooked. Mix mayo, ketchup, mustard, oil, lemon juice and seasonings in a bowl. Mix in cabbage. Can be refrigerated for up to two days. Assemble the sandwich by toasting a hoagie, add a layer of fish, topped with slaw. Enjoy with fries and hushpuppies.
  10. It will be interesting to see how that works out on Grand.
  11. Studfish - Yet another species I did not know existed. When you catch one, you can honestly say: "This fish is a STUD!"
  12. Been a while since I have caught a walleye.
  13. Met up bright and early with Dutch. There was an early bite, it wasn't great but we did catch some smallmouth, I believe we caught 15 or so with a couple of chunky keepers. 3/8 oz jig was our best bait, with a couple on c-rigged craws, and one spot on a top water. We got our fish working steep rocky banks. We caught our last fish about 0830, we fished from then until 0945 without a bite and decided it was time to go. WT 83

  15. Cool looking fish. More fish species I had no idea existed. 😀
  16. Gilt darter - I have never heard of it until this post from AGFC: This spring, the Rivers and Streams program conducted a series of surveys on the Spring River in Northeast Arkansas. These surveys help us better understand fish communities and document species distribution. The Spring River is home to a very diverse fish community and houses some of the most beautiful fish species in the state. One of those spectacular species is the Gilt Darter (Percina evides). The Gilt Darter inhabits the White, Buffalo, Strawberry, Spring, Current, and Black Rivers. They like clean water, permanent flow, and rocky riffle habitat. Males in beautiful breeding colors were observed during our spring surveys. We captured them in shallow, rocky riffles, and they were presumed to be actively spawning. These stunning fish were safely released. Historically, stream degradation has reduced the range of the Gilt Darter. That's why stream monitoring is so crucial: it allows us to detect changes in water quality and habitat, identify threats to aquatic species like the Gilt Darter, and ultimately work to protect and restore these vital ecosystems so that incredible fish like these can continue to thrive.
  17. Those are awesome pics, the time you put into it paid off.
  18. Storm clouds over the prairie are always cool pics.
  19. That hawk was just trying to help it cross the road. Two times this spring I have seen a people park their car, get out, grab a box turtle and get it across the road. I clipped a dillo on my way to the lake a few days ago, 2 of them sprinted from the left side of the road right into me, no time to react, thought I might get by them before they got under the truck, but got one of them with the back wheel. Don't mind having one less dillo in the world, but didn't want one bouncing off the truck or the boat.
  20. I may have seen that same plane flying over Bella Vista this afternoon. Couldn't get a good look at it to tell what it was.
  21. And it only weighed 16 pounds! Ancient Lake Trout Caught in Lake Michigan After Being Stocked 39 Years Ago
  22. You could check the classifieds at the Texas Fishing Forum and Bass Boat Central. Every once in a while, I'll see some BFS stuff for sale there.
  23. Out early again today. Lots of fog, but it was a warm fog. 😀 I looked for stripers early, little to no top water activity from them. Fished a couple of spots with no blow-ups so switched to bass fishing. There was a jig bite in places, fish were close to the bank. Had a 100 foot stretch of bank where they were busting minnows on top and caught a couple on the dog walker. Picked up a few on the c-rig later in the AM. Caught 10 bass, a few were chunky. WT 79-80 A jet flew over in the fog, fairly low, I could not see it in the fog, but it had that jet engine sort of whine noise. It set off a pack of coyotes. Howling and yipping for about 5 minutes.
