  1. There are walleye in the lake for sure and the guys that target them seem to do well. I trailer my boat, but if I was going to get a slip and target walleye and striper, I'd try and get one at Lost Bridge Marina. There's walleye year round on the north end of the lake, and stripers are there year round also, but there are peaks and valleys as far as numbers. If you live in Rogers or Bella Vista it's going to be a 30-45 minute drive to LB Marina. I'm partial to that end of the lake, not as crowded, and certainly not as developed. It does get busy in the summer. If you live in Rogers, Prairie Creek marina is close by - it's a big marina and very busy during the summer, but it's centrally located and gives you access to the river arms or north towards Clifty and that area. Stripers get caught right out in front of the marina in the winter. Probably should also check to see what marinas sell gas in the winter if you plan of fishing during the winter.
  2. Way to go Thumbs!
  3. Well if we're going to go beads and sliders, might as well screw one of these down on the front deck.
  4. Wow Seth you did do some grocery shopping, congrats! Was out for a walk yesterday, saw a 6 point about 50 feet away, usually bucks around here will spook pretty quickly, but he just kind of slowly walked away then stopped. Then sure enough saw a doe back in the brush, they both moved a little further back in the brush where I could not see them, but then heard some 'wheezing' going on. It is that time of year for them.
  5. That is a nice fish - for some reason the pic didn't show the first time I saw Dan's post above.
  6. Cool - kinda makes me wish I had gone out today. Were they on top?
  7. Hope your recovery goes well!
  8. HAHA, yeah usually I don't catch enough to make it a problem to remember the score. Of course I am getting older and short term memory starts to degrade, but then if I got one I'd probably forget where it is.
  9. That's a bit of a pet peeve of mine with AGFC - They write up those reports but don't let anyone know how to access them or better yet, provide links to them on their website. You have to know who to contact and what report you are looking for to get a copy. It's in their best interest to make this stuff easily available to the public so that we know that they are doing good work out there, one example is AGFC stocking walleye in Table Rock, but for the most part it appears that many anglers that fish Table Rock were unaware that is was happening. I have exchanged emails with the AGFC public info person about this but nothing has happened.
  10. Good luck Dan! I am probably won't be out chasing them again until after the forecasted nasty weather blows out which looks not to be until next week. I just hope it doesn't end the top water bite.
  11. Is this 2014 report the most recent available?
  12. Congrats on the Woodie, beautiful bird.
  13. Launched at dawn, brisk wind out of the north was blowing. Caught a keeper largemouth on a jerkbait on about cast # 10, got a little smallie a couple of casts later and then spent the next 2 hours not getting a bite. Fished down a steep chunk rock bank, caught a keeper smallie on a wobblehead and then caught 2 14" spotted bass on the next 2 casts. 3 casts, 3 fish after 2 hours of no bites, all on the wobblehead with a Menace Grub. About 5 casts later and a little further down the bank I caught a 14" largemouth. Then it got tough again. I did hook onto a pretty good fish that I never saw that got off. It was a weird bite, one of those deals where I felt just a little tick, felt like the wobblehead ticked off a rock, but just a little funny feel to it, so I gave it a kind of weak hookset and found my self with a hard puller on. Pulled hard for a couple of seconds and was off. Hate losing a good one on a tough day, it is still bugging me now. WT 60
  14. Put the boat in the water at Indian creek about 7 AM, I could see top water striper activity right out in front of the ramp. My plan today was to fish for black bass, but seeing those stripers made me change my plans. My one regret is not getting there 45 minutes earlier before it got light. Anyway got after them, throwing, targeting the ones I would see breaking water. Did a lot of chasing, they are spooky, the water is clear, and the shad they are chasing are small. A lot of times they would not go after my topwater (Evergreen Shower Blow 135), but once in a while one would blow up on it. And I mean explode, that's most of the fun, just seeing those big pops. I boated one that was in the 10-12 lb. range, a couple of 3 lbers and a couple of spotted bass. Missed several, had one knock the lure about 3 feet in the air, came after it again once it hit the water, missed it, then after I walked the bait about 10 feet it blew up on it again and missed. Had another one pop it twice and miss both times. Had a couple of brief hook ups also. It kept me pretty entertained for about 2 hours then it shut down. There was another guy out there who looked to be doing the same thing I was doing and I saw him boat 2 stripers. Went back into Indian once the top water bite died to try for some bass - had two bites on a swing head with a Menace Grub and that was it. I quit about 11 AM. WT right at 60 degrees.

  16. Sure is a great time of the year to fish, glad to see you had some time to get out!
  17. Launched about 7 AM today, cloudy, cold and windy which it would remain all day. Air temp was 47 when I launched, and 49 when I pulled out at 1:30 PM. My expectation was that there might be a good crank bait bite with the wind and clouds - I caught a few early on a Rapala DT 6, mostly small fish, but one LM that was around the keeper mark. Had a decent fish that grabbed the DT right at the boat, got a glance at it's back, looked to be a smallie that might have gone 3 lbs, had it on for about 3 seconds and it pulled off. Not much you can do to keep them on when they whack it right at the boat. DT bite just flat stopped, so I switched to a Menace Grub on a 3/8 oz swing head. Boated a couple of keeper sized smallies on the grub, had a couple others that I never saw but pulled like decent fish. Had one largemouth that was around that keeper mark on the grub too. The smallies were on shallow gravel that had the wind blowing parallel to the bank, and it was no gentle breeze, that wind was blowing hard where they were. Not a great day as far as numbers, boated 9 bass, 3 keepers, but it was enough to make it a fun day to be out. WT 60-61.
  18. I believe they have a couple of streams up in the northeast corner that support steelhead runs. However, I bet when the fish are in it is a zoo.
  19. Thanks for the tutorial BH! I am a cold weather hunter, I like it when temps are down around freezing and the leaves are down. Shouldn't be too much longer.
  20. Nice to see some fall victim to the JB.
  21. Wow, that is nice!

    Bluegill?

The lakes here in Bella Vista have some good gill fishing with some bonus big redear. There's quite a few dedicated bluegill fishermen here and even a guide that will take people on gill trips. They get a lot of pressure, but that's good as they are prolific and it helps to thin them out. I'll fish for them once or twice a year. I have always thought that if I get tired of bass fishing, I'll switch to gills or try and figure out redear. Table Rock has some good redear in it, I've accidently caught a couple of good ones bass fishing, can't be hardly anyone that chases them on that lake.
  23. I drag it on the bottom, usually I'll pull it towards me with my rod, move the rod back and reel in the slack, then repeat. Did get a couple of bites swimming it too, so it might be worth putting one on a ball head and swimming it.
  24. They've been stocking them for a while, AGFC used to publish the numbers every year, but when they went to a newly designed website they stopped showing those numbers. It was something in the neighborhood of 50,000 walleye fingerlings per year. OA member Mojo rig works for AGFC, pm him and I'm sure he can find numbers and location for the walleye stocking. @mojo rig
