  1. Looks like a walleye lure - don't have them in my stash.
  2. I was expecting a Johnny Cash song. Good to see your fishing is on.
  3. Well except for the property requirement, I could agree.
  4. I think there's some Drop Shot going on now, seen a couple of guys out working the deep ends of the gravel. I'm trying to hold off on it for now and fish other stuff while it still works.
  5. I hear you on that, I'm going to get out as much as I can for the next week or two, and then start dialing it back a bit.
  6. Launched at dawn and fished until noon. Air temp was 54 when I launched and close to 84 when I left. Had a very brief early top water bite, caught several short spots on a 90 Plopper before it quit. Started throwing a Carolina rig around with a black Trick Worm, and got some scattered fish on it off gravel points and in a pocket near a point. The c-rig fish were shallow, anywhere from 5 - 10 feet deep. Later in the morning I switched to a green pumpkin worm and got a few on it. About 10 AM there started to be a little breeze, so I worked a square bill in and around flooded buck brush, picked a few more up doing that, and lost a nice large mouth that jumped and tossed the SB. Every once in a while I would work a black/blue 3/8 oz jig with a black twin tail trailer, and had a few grab that also. Caught several smallies on the jig. Caught a little north of 20 bass, 3 or 4 being keeper sized. Also caught a coupe of 17" walleye. I brought ice with me with the intent of keeping any keeper sized wallies, but I think the keepers sensed that I had ice in the boat and stayed away. Water is still a stained green, but may have cleared just a bit in the last couple of days. Temps were 78-80.
  7. Well things sure have slowed down. Water is a heavily stained green color from Roaring river down to past point 23. At least that's as far as I roamed today. I don't know if it is some kind of algae bloom, plankton bloom, runoff, or all of the above. Anyway, caught about 20 black bass, but mostly short fish, only 2 keepers. Top water was slow, caught most of them on c-rigged Zoom UV Speed Craws and a few on jigs. Fished mostly gravel points and a few rocky banks. I might try beating the bushes with squarebills and jigs if this water stays stained and the level remains at 917. Water temp - 77.
  8. Sorry to hear that, hopefully your recovery is still in progress and things will improve. I am going to have to get one myself, sure not looking forward to it.
  9. They are originals I am sure, may not fish any better, but you can get some $$$ for them depending on the color and condition.
  10. That is some great fishing!
  11. Dang, I watched a G3 Sportsman show about a year ago where they were rabbit hunting on a SW MO conservation area. I guess that would have been illegal.
  12. Man, as that 4 minute power play was just about over I was thinking to myself that the Sharks were done, then they scored. Sharks face another 'Must Win' in game 4.
  13. Heck yeah, I worry more about some of the humans out there than I do about the critters.
  14. Yeah I'm off the water by 3 PM, but I'm up at 3 AM. The 2 hour drive back from Springfield would be brutal.
  15. My neighbor has caught some stripers in the Point 1 area last week. He goes early, looks for top water activity, and when he sees it, he gets on them. Hit or miss, some days he gets them real good, and other days not. He hasn't been in a week, so hard to know if it is still going on.
  16. Zoom Horny Toad is another alternative.

    Friday Morn

    That's some great Nedding!
  18. That's a cute dog. I have one myself. I don't hate all dogs, just the ones that bark all night, or get in the trash. And it's not the dogs fault, it's the humans.
  19. Finished watching the game last night (I had recorded it). IMO the Pens are just better than the Sharks.
  20. I would like to go, if it fits into my fishing schedule.
  21. People across the street have 3 very annoying small dogs. There are coyotes around here, I hear them howling and every once in a while see one. I would not shed a tear if they ate all three of those dogs. But so far, it hasn't happened.
  22. Fished with board member Huntest (Dave) today. We launched at 0530 and fished until 1230 or so. The fishing was decent, not hot like a couple of weeks ago, but we had some action. Caught around 35 black bass, mostly spots and smallies, 3 walleye, 2 of which were just at the 18" mark (released), and a white bass or two. There was a top water bite early, not a hot bite, but we did get a handful on top water. After that, we threw several baits that caught fish, c-rigging a Zoom UV Speed craw, slow rolling Keitechs, dragging jigs and wobble heads, and a few Ned fish. Size wise, nothing big made it into the boat, but we had some keeper spots, and one mean that might have gone 2 and a half. But Dave did have a big fish opportunity, he had good fish on, it stayed down until it got close to the boat, we knew it was good, but never saw it until it came straight up out of the water, probably got 3 feet of air and threw the hook. We both got a good look at it, and it was a largemouth that we think could have been pushing 6 lbs. It just wasn't meant to be, nothing Dave could've done. I hate to pick on him (well maybe not), but he also had another LM that looked to be 3 lbs. throw the bait at the boat, and had a walleye that was a few inches past keeper size, roll off just as I was abut to net it. So if you know Dave and have his address, please send him a sympathy card. Water was a bit murky around the point 23 area, must have had some good rains in that area. Water was kind of a thick pea green color. Temp was 77.
  23. Looks like they have a non-rattling version of the Plopper now. They are in stock at Tackle Warehouse. Must...resist...urge...to ....purchase. They have to get burned out on these things at some point.
  24. Sounds like a shad spawn. You would think the bass would pin those shad on the bank and chow down on them. Darn bass just don't read the books.
  25. A tank of a KY. I love catching those things. Did you see much top water activity?
