  1. Nothing wrong with getting into a bunch of K's. They ought to start chasing top waters soon.
  2. Good to hear they are moving out.
  3. Cool, thanks for the info - you fellas had a great trip!
  4. A bit of a skirmish broke out last night. Royals are getting feisty. Had a bit of a bean ball war with the A's and something resembling a real fight broke out for a bit last night. Yordano Ventura seems to always be a prominent figure in these deals. I bet ESPN will replay that fight about a 100 times today.
  5. Sounds like an awesome lake. I think they did an MFL show on Tenkiller and they were getting quite a few Largemouth, but I may have that wrong. Anyway, It would be tough to fish for the LM's with the smallies biting like they were for you. Did you throw the Ned at them?
  6. And they have some weather tomorrow, windy, T-storms. Saturday looks to be windy also.
  7. Based on the reports I read today, you guys whipped my butt. I started the morning a little late, had to wait for the rain to move out of Bella Vista, but it followed me to the Rock and I also spent about a half hour in a dock stall waiting for it to move on. I spent most of the morning fishing back in coves, dragging a Nutech jig and the Ned. I picked up a few on the jig, keeper sized large mouth, but it was just a bite here and there. Fishing spawning fish is just doesn't work for me, can't seem to make them see reason. In the afternoon, finally ran across a group of fish off the main channel sitting in 20 FOW, caught a few dragging the Menace Grub on a wobble head, several were solid keeper spots that just hammered the grub. After they stopped biting the grub, went back over them and picked up a couple more on the Ned. Found a few more off a rocky point that liked the Ned, and then it was time to go home, on the trailer at 4 PM. Caught about 20 fish total, half Ned fish, the other half on the Menace Grub and Nutech 3/8 oz jig. Surface temps were 60-61. Those fish in the backs of coves are getting hammered, seems every cove had a boat or two in it, and you see lots of boats going in and out of coves heading right to the back. I tip my hat to those of you that can catch those cove fish because they are seeing a lot of stuff, seven days a week. Spotted bass seem to be about half spawned out, caught some with flat bellies, but others were as fat as they can be.
  8. Yep, should've filleted that cat on the spot and put the fillets in to marinade with the steaks. Great fishing, thanks for the report!
  9. Thanks for the report.
  10. That's some great fishing, good to hear they are biting the lizard!
  11. October 12th??!!! What the heck. BASS gets it out a couple of weeks after the tourney. Money is the same for the FLW anglers as far as I can tell, but the rest of the operation is 2nd class compared to BASS.
  12. MLF has three in a boat.
  13. Somebody will probably fish up near the dam for smallies, not saying they will win, but it seems the past couple of years there's always a couple that use that as their strategy. Anyone know when it will air on TV?
  14. Awesome report, thanks for posting!
  15. I know that guy, and he is a good fisherman!
  16. Strike King Structure Bug and a Megabait Megabug are two of my favorites. 4/0 hook and 1/2 oz head, but if I want to fish deep I go with a 3/4.
  17. Fishing it like a crank is one technique. I do that with a Menace Grub, but I still like to maintain bottom contact. Post spawn, I do more of a slow drag and pause method. And there are days where it doesn't work so well. Especially now with the spawn, it's a challenge every day to see what they like.
  18. Saw his on BBC today, looks to be about 10 lbs. http://www.bbcboards.net/bbc-lounge/598222-oldest-son-caught-ole-string-stretcher.html
  19. I like it post-spawn with a creature bait or a craw. Cast to the back corner of a dock and drag it parallel to the stalls, you can also flip it around dock stalls like you would a jig. Fish it shallow off gravel points early in the AM, then deep later in the day. You can fish a lot of plastic on it, worms, flukes, and paddle tail swimbaits. My biggest beef with off the shelf swing heads are the hooks, usually they are not the greatest and they are molded in so you have to cut them off if you want to change out the hook. You'll also have to add a split ring or two to get the hook to ride upright. I just looked at Swing Oil's site and see that they sell heads with a split ring. So you can put your own hook on them. Nice option as you can get finessy with them, and for example fish a Finesse worm on a 1/4 oz head.
  20. Good deal, thanks for the report.
  21. Smallie, Mean, LM,and Spot - I think I see a Babler slam!
  22. Worm snake? http://herpsofarkansas.com/Snake/CarphophisVermis
  23. That is great, good to see your daughter caught some fish, and they are nice ones!
  24. I'm sure a 26" walleye can pull like a freight train. But for fighting ability, I'd rather hook a 26" carp, and imagine a 26" smallie! But for table fare, I'll take a walleye.
  25. "Got on kind of a strange swimbait bite. Will keep details close until I can prove it was not a fluke."
