Strike King Structure Bug and a Megabait Megabug are two of my favorites. 4/0 hook and 1/2 oz head, but if I want to fish deep I go with a 3/4.

Fishing it like a crank is one technique. I do that with a Menace Grub, but I still like to maintain bottom contact. Post spawn, I do more of a slow drag and pause method. And there are days where it doesn't work so well. Especially now with the spawn, it's a challenge every day to see what they like.

I like it post-spawn with a creature bait or a craw. Cast to the back corner of a dock and drag it parallel to the stalls, you can also flip it around dock stalls like you would a jig. Fish it shallow off gravel points early in the AM, then deep later in the day. You can fish a lot of plastic on it, worms, flukes, and paddle tail swimbaits. My biggest beef with off the shelf swing heads are the hooks, usually they are not the greatest and they are molded in so you have to cut them off if you want to change out the hook. You'll also have to add a split ring or two to get the hook to ride upright. I just looked at Swing Oil's site and see that they sell heads with a split ring. So you can put your own hook on them. Nice option as you can get finessy with them, and for example fish a Finesse worm on a 1/4 oz head.

I'm sure a 26" walleye can pull like a freight train. But for fighting ability, I'd rather hook a 26" carp, and imagine a 26" smallie! But for table fare, I'll take a walleye.

I'm thinking 5 lbs., but you know how it is, they always look bigger in the water.

Caught a couple of walleye today, this one that was in the 3 -4 lb. range and a 19 incher. They came home with me. One on the Ned, and one on a jig. Just bass fishing and picked them up accidentally. Bass fishing was slow for me. My last weeks Ned fish were gone from their hangouts on the points, had to work the coves for fish. Caught 15, maybe 6 spots and the rest LM's (and one Mean). 4 keepers I think, biggest a 3 lb. LM, and a couple in the 2-2.5 range. Lost another 3 lb. fish at the boat. Even split between Ned and 3/8 jig with a twin tail trailer. While bringing in a 14-15" spot to the boat, had a BIG brown fish chase him in trying to grab the Ned. That fish dwarfed the spot. Surface temps 61-63. There are beds in the coves. Obligatory meanie pic
