  1. BTW, according to their web site, Riley's does not accept plastic. So bring cash or check.
  2. Dang I just got back from the store - maybe somebody else will get the buns, if not I can go back to the store this evening. I have 4 lbs. of Walmart Slaw and a couple of pounds of Walmart potato salad - probably enough for both nights.
  3. BTW you don't have to meet me at the cabin, I can drive to wherever you folks are at.
  4. My cell is. I'd love to take you up on your offer Hoglaw, but I just won't be able to get there early.
  5. And a QB that can throw downfield. But I have to admit, that the last few games the Chiefs appeared to have opened things up a bit and Smith is starting to throw downfield more and get the ball to Bowe.
  6. That's a tough one, trying to get shad from the bank this time of year. Bfishn's advice is better than what I can think of. If you go to the Big M public use area on Table Rock, there might be some shad up by the shore in the afternoon on a sunny bank by the cove mouth, but it's low percentage.
  7. Thanks for that temp report, It's warmer than I expected, it was around 53 before this cold front hit.
  8. You may have to give us one, I haven't been out since this freeze. Good luck and let us know how you do!
  9. I've always been worried about cougars and bigfoot, now I also have to worry about running into a "Turtle man"?
  10. I'll sign up for bringing the ketchup and tartar sauce - I can't eat fried fish without ketchup. I don't want anyone to wait around for me to show up at the cabins Friday afternoon, if someone is there with a boat that's great, but I'm just as happy taking some time to explore the area and take the dog for a long walk. There's a chance of some light freezing rain around here Friday morning, so I might not get going as early as I'd like.
  11. Are you looking for dead shad or live shad? Last time I was at Cabelas they had some frozen shad. None of the bait shops around here carry live shad as far as I know.
  12. Was looking at some of the preliminary Vegas prognostications, they have an over/under of 60 and Okie State favored by 3 points. Fairly even match according to the odds makers.
  13. You'd think the hatchery people would know if they stocked a 10 lb. trout.
  14. Oklahomans seem to be catching all the big rainbows lately. Dec. 11, 2013 A service of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation New state record rainbow trout breaks 47-year-old record A new state record rainbow trout was caught recently from Lake Watonga at Roman Nose State Park, reminding Oklahomans that this non-native, cold-water fish is in season and providing plenty of angling action across the state. On Nov. 17, Mark Reed of Blanchard caught the 10-lb., 10.56-oz. rainbow, breaking the nearly half-century-old state record of Billy Payne, who caught his 10-lb., 4-oz. trout from the Illinois River in July of 1966. Reed's fish was 27 3/4 inches in length and 17 1/2 inches in girth. He caught the fish from the west side of the lake using a copper-colored Super Duper 502 with a red head. "Mr. Reed asked his sons to accompany him to Roman Nose State Park," said Keith Thomas, central region fisheries biologist for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation who certified the record. "They turned him down - too cold and wanted to sleep in. They're kicking themselves now." At Thomas' encouragement, Reed is having the fish mounted. Native to cold-water streams, trout can survive all year long in Oklahoma's two year-round trout areas (the Lower Mountain Fork River and Lower Illinois River), but generally cannot survive year-round in Oklahoma's warm waters. However, they can be stocked for fishing during the winter, providing a unique opportunity to anglers. There are six seasonal trout fisheries in Oklahoma that are stocked throughout most of the fall and winter, usually beginning Nov. 1 and continuing into March. According to fisheries biologists, however, it's possible Reed's record fish wasn't stocked this year. The fish's excellent body condition and the documentation of over-summering trout because of cold water from springs that flow into Lake Watonga could mean the fish had been in the lake for some time. Thomas said the big fish was colorful, had healthy fins and showed no bodily abrasions that are typical of trout that have recently come from a hatchery, where the fish are more pale in color and raised in concrete raceways. Once the trout acclimate to their new environment and start eating natural foods, their bright color comes out and their body conditions improve. "Due to cold water from springs that flow into Lake Watonga, it is possible that this fish survived and grew to become our new state record rainbow trout." Though it cannot be confirmed whether the fish was stocked this year or in a previous year, it remains that Reed's fish is one for the record books. Along with Lake Watonga, Oklahoma's seasonal state-designated trout areas include the Blue River, Robber's Cave, Medicine Creek and Lakes Pawhuska and Carl Etling. For trout season regulations and full details on each area, consult page 38 of the current "Oklahoma Fishing Guide," available free online at wildlifedepartment.com or in print anywhere fishing licenses are sold. Urban anglers also can catch trout during the winter at Dolese Youth Park Pond in Oklahoma City (NW 50th and Meridian) and Veterans Park Pond in Jenks (101st and South Elm). Anglers who believe they may have hooked a record fish must weigh the fish on an Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture certified scale, and a Wildlife Department employee must verify the weight. For a complete list of record fish and the procedures for certifying a state record, consult the current "Oklahoma Fishing Guide" or log on to wildlifedepartment.com.
  15. Just finished reading a book I picked up at the library "Monsters - the 1985 Chicago Bears - and the wild heart of football" by Rich Cohen. The title is deceiving, it does cover the 85 Bears but also begins with several chapters on the earliest days of the NFL, George Halas, and the founding of the Bears. A good read for the most part, if you're interested in this kind of stuff.
  16. Thanks LittleRed, I'll send you my cell # also.
  17. Welcome!
  18. You fish those worms in the winter Plug? Just curious if you have much luck on them in the winter. I like to fish worms, but haven't had much luck on them once the water drops below 50 degrees.
  19. Yeah I hear you on that, I need to spend more time side scanning especially this time of year. I'm going to force myself to do it.
  20. I should get there around noon and am hoping someone has room for me in their boat.
  21. Here's the rule on ejection. The guy was way out of bounds when he gave the last push, and yes I have played sports too, and I was aware when I was out of bounds. If the guy had made an effort to not administer that last hit, I'd have sympathy for his case. But he gave that cute little push that sent the player into the cart, it was deliberate no doubt about it. I'm not saying he intended to push him into the cart, but it was a deliberate cheap shot that placed that player in danger. "By rule a flagrant personal foul is a rule infraction so extreme or deliberate that it places an opponent in danger of catastrophic injury that it results in an ejection."
  22. Looking at that video it looks like the defender was going to try and haul down the guy (after they were out of bounds), then, instead gave him a shove. I think they should have ejected the guy, if anything as a lesson to other players that once you cross that out of bounds line the play is over.
  23. Here's the link to the sticky - you can scroll down to "Bass images". http://www.bbcboards.net/humminbird-image-interpretation/172541-humminbird-images-depth-sctructure-technology-type.html
  24. Phil are you fishing a Zig Jig or roundhead jigs?
