  1. Keitech on a c-rig, I'll have to give it a try. I have Keitechs sitting around gathering dust, may as well put them to work. Do you like the action of the Mikey as a wake bait?
  2. I was just looking at the radar and noticed that cell sitting over the TR area. Bunch of storms brewing up in Oklahoma, we may get some here in NW AR.
  3. Very Nice!
  4. Love that FB jig bite. Thanks for the heads up.
  5. Jason - Black/Blue fleck. AB - Yes, c-rigged. PD - You are welcome, hope you get some.
  6. Snowden had a security clearance, when you get a security clearance you agree, under threat of penalty, to not divulge secure information, never, ever, unless authorized to do so. He signed an agreement to that effect. He's a lawbreaker and has violated the trust the government of the US placed in him.
  7. You are right Roger, It's been a great spring/early summer. I hope it keeps up (it should). One thing I noticed is that for post-spawn fish, they are fat suckers. Healthy well fed fish, which bodes well for the future. I haven't seen any of the skinny post-spawn fish you see in other lakes around here. Nice pics, congrats!
  8. Bass fishing was OK, again caught a few more than 20, maybe half a dozen keepers. Ol' Monster early, then some Fin fish on top for a while, picked up a few on the c-rigged Zoom UV Speed craw. Wished I had brought the Drop shot stuff, I could see them out on the deep end of the gravel points later in the morning. Now for the walleye story. Yesterday there was a fellow basser fishing close to where I was, we stopped and chatted, introduced ourselves and talked over the fishing for the morning. Well today I'm fishing the same point, Joe, the fellow I talked to yesterday pulls up again, we talk, and he mentions he has a couple of nice walleye in the livewell that he had picked up earlier while tossing a crankbait. So we talk about how a guy will catch a walleye every once in a while while bass fishing, but usually it's just one in a day's fishing, so Joe has done good to get a couple in the live well. I'm dragging the c-rig around as we're talking about walleye, get a bite, set the hook, feel a heavy fish that's doing a minimal amount of moving around, and sure enough it's a walleye, a no doubt keeper, I didn't measure it but it was probably 22-24". I ask Joe if he wants it seeing how he's already going to be cleaning fish and he's happy to take it. He moves his boat over close to mine, opens up his livewell, and I toss it in (banking it off the lid). So we chuckle about it, what a coincidence..HAHA. So I go back to dragging the rig, 5 minutes later feel a bite, it's got that heavy, slow moving feel to it, it can't be I think, but there it is, another freakin' walleye. This one I had to measure as it wasn't an obvious keeper, but it was 19" and Joe got another fish to clean (tossed that one right into his livewell - nothing but net!). Double coincidence - good for a second laugh, and that was it for the walleye catching. For you crawler draggers - both wallies were at about 15 FOW off a gravel point.
  9. I threw a Jika for a bit later this morning, saw bream back in the buck brush, so decided to try a Jika with a Beaver (in this case a Missile Baits Da Bomb). Hooked 3 bass on it, didn't get a one in the boat, but they are there in the brush. And they're out deep - take your pick.
  10. Thanks for the report, after what I saw on the graph today, I agree that the drop shot is in order.
  11. I did fish some deep water today with the c-rig, 20 feet or so way out on a point. Picked a couple of spots out in the depths. Wished I had my drop shot with me as I could see fish out there on the finder not far off the bottom.
  12. Thanks guys, I'll loosen up that drag a bit. It's a relatively light spinning rod I was using for the fin, one of my old 8'6" steelhead spinning rods that was gathering dust.
  13. Don't tell Powerdive where you got 'em. The guy is like a walleye vacuum cleaner. Nothing left but spotted bass and carp by the time he's done.
  14. Cool, glad to hear you got into some bass and did some other fun stuff.
  15. I'm sure I'll find something I "need".
  16. Out on the water at the crack of dawn, headed to my favorite point and started tossing the c-rigged Ol' Monster. They bit the Monster really well for a about 20 minutes up on the point shallow and then it was over. Did some top water fishing with a Fin that I have that works sort of OK, caught a few on it, lost about half a dozen, including one that was around 3 lbs. First time I've used braid with the fin, I don't know if that was a factor but losing a bunch of fish halfway to the boat is annoying. Once the top bite stopped, started c-rigging the Ultra Vibe speed craw, caught spots here and there with it, mainly 13-15" spots in 10-15 FOW. Ended up with somewhere north of 20 bass. The boat parade started about 1100, the fish stopped biting, so I was on the trailer at 1215. Water temp 78.
  17. Those Johnson hooks are huge, and underneath the thumbnail! Yikes!
  18. Jim Callis of Baseball America reports that the Cardinals have agreed to terms on a contract with their first round pick from last week’s first-year player draft, Gonzaga left-hander Marco Gonzales. Gonzales got $1.85 million, which is slightly under the recommended signing bonus for the 19th overall pick (which is where he was selected on Thursday night). Considered by many to be the most polished pitcher in this year’s draft class, Gonzales could move very quickly through the Cardinals’ farm system. He has a low-90s fastball and a well-developed changeup, which is a nice arsenal for a lefty. The 21-year-old native of Fort Collins, Colorado posted a 2.80 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 96/25 K/BB ratio in 106 innings this season as a junior. He also hit .311 with a .375 on-base percentage in 167 at-bats.
  19. Some nice chunks!
  20. Thanks for the info Ab, the brand name spoons are a little overpriced IMO. I've tried flutter spoons on the Rock in the summer when they are biting jigging spoons, never have worked as well as the little Cabelas jigging spoons. Had some really good days on them on Beaver and the Bella Vista lakes during the winter, if you can find a winter bite on schooling shad those things are deadly. I like to put a feathered treble on them.
  21. Wow, I've looked at Crystal but never fished it. It's so small I thought it would get fished out by too much pressure, but sounds like it has a good bass population.
  22. Well I can put off making a decision on buying that $25 Mikey until next year...
  23. Yep I'm with F&F, please keep us updated!
  24. Cool, thanks, debating on whether or not to throw a deep crank.
