Yeah the Hogs could not skin two Tigers in a row. They have to be smarter passers and make free throws. Shouldn't hurt them much as far as seeding for the NCAA, I'm thinking a 4 seed.

They are really popular for floating rivers in the Pacific Northwest, they can handle some pretty nasty rapids. A buddy of mine had one and I'd get on the oars every once in a while and it takes surprising little effort to row them. Backtrolling with plugs was a popular way to fish for steelhead out of a drift boat, you move slowly downstream and across back and forth through a pool, the idea being to "herd" the fish into the tail out and then they'll get mad and attack that plug. Vicious strikes, it was pretty cool.

Does make you wonder - I threw a plus 1 on one of the BV lakes yesterday for a bit and I agree on the less action factor. Did get one bite on it that got off, felt like a good fish. I replaced the stock hooks with those Aaron Martens Gammies, those things are scary sharp - always a wonderment to me that a bass can grab a lure with 3 sets of sharp trebles and somehow get off.

Was looking at 110's on Ebay and they now have a +3 version but you have to order it either from Japan or Singapore. I would have to think it will hit the US market eventually. Supposedly gets down to "4 meters" which I would guess translates to 13 or 14 feet.

Great game (at least from my point of view 🙂). Physical game, ridiculous number of offensive fouls. Pretty much an inside game, not a lot of 3's attempted by either team. Getting Tilmon fouled out helped the Hogs in their inside game.

Well shoot - you can always stop by and grab a burger.

Here's the email, looks like they did some shocking above Beaver, but maybe not on the White and Kings entering TR. The numbers of Walleye that run into these rivers is incredible. We collected 251 Walleye per hour a couple of nights ago on the Upper White River out of the Highway 45 Bridge (Beaver Lake Twin Bridges Access). On the Kings River, we have collected over 350 per hour and see some trophy fish. Our sampling method (electrofishing) does not collect every fish. We only get a small sample of the Walleye that are there (if we collect 75 in 10 minutes, we are probably missing another 75). We cannot net fast enough to collect all the fish. We have seen similar numbers in the White below Beaver Lake. Also, we have observed fish that were 14 lbs. These high catch rates are corresponding with the increased popularity of the Walleye fishery in the spring. Stocking at this point is not needed in these river arms and Walleye are doing very well on their own.

Got a nicely worded reply from the AGFC District 1 biologist today to my question whether AGFC is still stocking walleye fingerlings in the White and Kings. The answer is they have not stocked any in the last few years, the population is doing very well now. Their latest electrofishing survey shows strong populations on the spawning grounds. An interesting side note is that they shocked up a couple of 14 lb. fish. That's a big walleye!

That is interesting. Don't know how you can prevent it unless they stop adding that chemical to tires or find a way to filter it out of the runoff. Coho are great fish, they are prolific, good to eat and a great fish to catch sports fishing.

More fish and fun than One guy should be allowed

That is sweet, congrats! -
Looking forward to it. Nice to have an SEC hoops tourney that is not Kentucky and everyone else.

Nice one! Good to hear they are biting jigs.

Yep still on.

Angler breaks 55-year-old brown trout record, calls it next-level big (usatoday.com)

That's a good one. Did it fight hard? Never have caught one but hear they are good fighters.

Thanks for the report Bill. Those K's are a blast, I am jealous. Looking at the water in the background it doesn't look too windy, the wind is literally roaring right now over here in Bella Vista.

I'm going to fry these fish, I like fried fish about once every month or so. Next time I get some of the white bass family I am going to make that RPS chowder.

So what do you guys think of sub-species as far as adding to your count? The reason I ask is that doing some reading on walleye today and the Black river has a genetically distinct walleye population that are native to that river. And there are 3 smallmouth types in Arkansas; Northern, Neosho, and Ouchita.

Wow, you guys whacked them! That's a great day on the Beav!

Walleye are designed for the fillet knife, here's the results from filleting a couple in the 19" range.

I'm assuming AGFC still stocks walleye fingerlings in the Kings and White rivers. As far as I know they collect brood stock from the Kings and sometimes the White. They usually net them around March 15. MDC does stocking when they have "surplus" fingerlings. I'm guessing the walleye I caught yesterday on gravel where there to spawn - but that's my gut feel. Up shallow in 10 FOW, with nothing else as far as bait fish or other fish like bass. Can't see any other reason for them to be there, well maybe getting into some warmer water. Checked out the two I kept, one was a male with sperm sacks, the other did not have either sperm sacks or eggs but had what looked like fat globules - it was a fat fish. I sent an email to AGFC to see if they are still stocking walleye in the TR tribs. Here's something from the MDC website: The Missouri Department of Conservation stocked surplus walleye in the James River Arm in 2014, 2016, and 2020. Fish sampling surveys in early spring 2019 indicated a quality number of walleye in the 21”-24” range in the James River Arm. In addition, 75% of the walleye sampled in the James River Arm in March 2019 were > 20". Good populations of walleye are also present in the Kings River Arm and upper portions of the White River Arm. Walleye catch rates in the 2019 spring electrofishing surveys in the Kings River were the highest ever recorded. Anglers reported catching numerous smaller walleye throughout the lake in 2020, indicating good recruitment from the high water in recent years.

The guys on the Roaring River? Could be, I have never fished there so don't know if the whites run up that far or not.

I'm perfectly happy with my Texas Tackle pliers, but should they ever die I will check out those Xurons.

Casting. I'm pretty confident that if someone wanted to troll a Keitech you could get some wallies.

Finally got a keeper sized walleye - as a matter of fact I caught 2 keepers today. Couple of short walleye too, one was just a hair short of 18", it was tough to let it go when at the time I had one in the livewell, but I just could not get it to that 18' mark. These walleye were all on gravel points in about 10 FOW. One on a Pointer 78 and the others on the 2.8 Keitech. Bass fishing was slow for me, caught 9 spots and only one was a keeper. Most came on the Ned rig. I found a school of them just inside a cove in the trees, they were goofy biters, missed several but caught 5 in that school which was my bass fishing highlight of the day. Caught a couple on the 78 too. WT was 43 when I launched and almost 46 when I came in. Roaring River was hopping when I drove through, had about 8 vehicles backed up at the stop sign to get onto 112. River was lined with people, fly rods in hand, near the bridge. Nice day to be out.
